The Trump Tariffs, to be announced today after stock markets close will be the undeniable display of Trump’s sheer incompetence and dishonesty as well as the inability of any of the few sane adults in the room to point out that the Mad King has no clothes. By Trump’s own (totally made up) numbers, the tariffs will impose a $6 trillion sales tax on the American people, the largest tax increase in American history by far. The half-hearted and explanations Trump apologists have barely even attempted to offer range from forehead-slapping stupidity (“tariffs actually a tax cut”) to outright shameless (tariffs are paid by the export country, Canadian fentanyl, misrepresentation of various alleged trade grievances etc). Their attempts at explanation have been weak because they know they don’t have to explain themselves to their mindless unquestioning supporters and they couldn’t come up with anything remotely plausible if they tried. American prices will increase. American jobs will be lost. The Stock market will continue to tank. All because of the stunning stupidity of one man and the shameless sycophancy of his administration officials. Remember Trump said everything would get better on DAY ONE of his administration not that he was going to destroy the economy then build back better from the ruins. For the American Trump supporters out there, as you watch your country spiral into a completely self-inflicted economic crisis caused by ONE MAN ALONE, just remember: elections have consequences.3 points

This will be a confusing time for the Republican base, who don't seem to know anything of politics aside from the price of eggs and gas. They don't know or care about the unprecedented attacks on civil liberties, private business, the environment, education, human rights etc., but they are all consumers. We are 3.5 months into this unmitigated disaster, but most of them aren't aware. They will notice this though.3 points

Name one other democracy who deports law abiding residents in the country legally for free speech “contrary to the nation’s values”. In fact name one other US President who has done that. And who gets to decree what the country’s values are anyways? This just YET ANOTHER example that all the Republican talk about free speech and ending cancel culture is just total BS. Republicans are some of the worst cancellers out there.3 points

The profits could have been much more had all those oil and gas energy projects not been cancelled because of Liberal hostility to that sector. Energy East, Northern Gateway and on and on.2 points

These are the same people for whom George Soros was the boogeyman for decades because he supported liberal organizations financially. Too much influence! And now we have Musk nakedly offering cash for signatures, support and realistically for votes. Everyone knows that this is not how democracy is supposed to work, but his ideological allies are willing to overlook it because they believe in the MAGA dogma far more than they believe in democratic values. We're just a quick jump away from auctioning off political positions to the highest bidder. Extreme income inequality bleeding into electoral inequality.2 points

Yes. Such an important "federal" issue. Were you aware that out of 500,000 total college student athletes, fewer than 10 are transgender. 500,000...... So, of course donald made this important "federal" issue one of the first things he corrected. So important, in fact, that he addressed it before addressing high prices accross the board. As a matter of fact, donalds actions have only caused prices to surge. The exact opposite of what he promised to handle on "day one". Now, I do not agree that trans women should be allowed to compete against cis women in many instances. But, what you and all your dimwitted maga buddies are failing to recognize, is this culture war circus of the right wing is designed to keep you looking at the "shining" object over here ( trans), while donald and his billionaire cronies are attempting to slide their tiny, flaccid members into the back door of the heartland of America.2 points

Didn't you hear Trumpy Boy whining yesterday? If he does run again it will really be for a fourth term as the 2020 election was stolen from him. He's still spouting the same bullshit, and they're still gobbling it up like it's candy. It's not just postings this morning, these people are April Fools their entire adult lives.2 points

really hate to tell YOU so but carney isn't really getting rid of the tax, just the consumer part, and he didn't do it correcty he just did it as a political stunt. So of course it's not going to have the impact we wanted to see. You can ALWAYS trust the liberals to even screw up something like NOT taxing the bejeezuz out of people2 points

Let's count all the ways donalds been f___ing with Canada together, shall we? 1. Donald has waged an unprovoked trade war on Canada. 2. Donalds gone on incessantly about Canada annexation, making it the 51st state. Completely disrespecting Canada's sovereignty. 3. Donalds cronies have floated the possibility of restructuring the Canadian/American border. An act that would take Canadian land. I know a lot of yall here are true trumpie cultists. So I'd like to know, how do yall like having Donald attack you like this? Are you starting to see donald for the felonious piece of shit he is? Or, are you still a brown-nosed suck-up to "king" donald?1 point

Borrowing from the playbook of yet another successful dictator, Trump is attempting to purge history, art and science of ideas he doesn't like. We've seen it at NIH, we've seen it at the Kennedy center, and now it's coming for the Smithsonian. Politico (and everywhere else) Vice President JD Vance has a new job: erasing what the White House considers “improper ideology” from the Smithsonian, a task that allows him to cast aside the progressive ideas he has decried since long before he was elected to public office. The vice president, who sits on the museum network’s board, has been tasked with slashing funding for exhibits or programs that promote “ideologies inconsistent with Federal law and policy,” including those that recognize trans people, “degrade shared American values,” or “divide Americans based on race,” according to an executive order President Donald Trump signed behind closed doors on Thursday. I have no doubt that this aggressive, ham-handed attempt to use political office to dictate culture will be celebrated by so-called conservatives (who clearly aren't), but it should be recognized for the sinister, cynical scheme that it is.1 point

Many of us have been saying this all along, but usually ignored by the Liberals and left. Canada is in a crisis with the average person unable to afford a home or the high rents, tent cities and homeless people in every town and city, failing health care system, increasing numbers of people relying on food banks, and a soft-on-crime justice system that almost all the time catches and releases dangerous offenders who then go out to stab someone. "For nine years, Canada has been on the wrong track. We’ve pushed away investment through excessive regulation, long approval timelines, and an unpredictable policy environment. We’ve discouraged risk-takers and entrepreneurs. We’ve punished the industries that built our economy — energy, mining, agriculture, and manufacturing — under the banner of climate virtue and political optics." KLEIN: We’ve got bigger problems than Donald Trump So why are some former conservative campaign advisers talking about changing the focus of the campaign to Trump? What is there to say about Trump? Most politicians know what we have to do. Counter tariffs where sensible and build our economy back. The disastrous past nine years is still the main problem in Canada. It appears Liberals and media are using Trump for talking points. That's all it is. Carney just said resource projects can only proceed if they have free and informed consent of FNs. There is the same old problem. No federal leadership. Rather bending over to a small handful of radical FNs, environmentalists, and leftists who oppose the progress and prosperity of Canada. This proves nothing would change under Carney.1 point

Whenever you feel retarded for being a Trump supporter, it's always a good idea to bring up the fake story about Hunter Biden's laptop. It might not distract anyone else, but at least it makes you feel a little better about yourself.1 point

Ya, going door to door is the same as giving 20 million to a campaign and million dollars cheques to individuals. 🤣 Squirm. Squirm.1 point

That is not buying an election, it is no different than asking why someone spent their time going door to door or standing on the street corner or having a rally... all of those things are time and money spent to support candidates and causes. That is speech.1 point

So why did Musk spend over 20 million on the election including giving million dollar cheques to two supporters? Because he is just a nice guy? This is fun. You make every excuse in the world for it but just can't say you support it. Keep on squirming.1 point

Hilariously but predictably you are not able to utter a single intelligent sentence on the topic and like I mentioned in my original post you’re not capable of making even an attempt to defend this ridiculous disaster of a policy. So you do your normal thing: insult, troll, try to change the subject to something completely unrelated. You’re suggesting Republicans won’t notice this either? 🤣 Got nothing to say on this topic?1 point

Our country's real advantage is that we still have the resources and time to develop a sustainable longer-term slower-growth economy based on conservation. The last thing we need is a flash-in-the-pan economic boom based on unleashing everything. Stripping, cutting, pumping and digging everything up to simply ship it out for others to prosper from is just plain nuts.1 point

Agreed. I've pointed that out myself a number of times here. I call it the 'why are we even talking about this" defense. LIke whenever there's a topic MIke Hardner doesn't like or can't refute he immediately posts "why are we even talking about this?" and then whines about it for a bit. And we see it quite a bit from the left. "WE MUST BAN OFFENSIVE DR SEUSS BOOKS!!!!" Ok, so you're supporting book bans now. Why do you want to ban those books? "EER.... WHY ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT THIS, ARE DR SEUSS BOOKS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN YOUR LIFE?!?!"1 point

I did read your post. I responded to exactly what you said. You brought up why this is a federal issue, seemingly ignorant. I gave you the answer. You tried the usual dishonest argument folks like you make about how its not a big deal because there are so few transgenders... well, if it isn't a big deal, then it isn't a big deal to protect girls and women from unfair competition against those few men pretending to be women either. That is always one of the top dishonest arguments these leftist play. Try to act like its not a big deal... while they make it a big deal to push it and defend it.1 point

And the clown show rolls on. More news today that Mike Waltz and his staff have been using their personal gmail accounts to conduct government business. What you call "Biden's Illegal Alien Voter Scheme" A. Began under Trump in 2017 B. Has nothing to do with voting C. Is only for immigrants with legal documentation to work in the US D. Allows immigrants to support Americans by paying into a SS system from which they cannot collect benefits In summary another, example of ignorant dilettante Musk having his "mind blown" while "discovering" information that is well known publicly and lying about it's form and function. And another lie KSU swallows down without a second thought--or even a first thought.1 point

How about journalism students being told by the Dean of the Journalism at Columbia Journalism School to not post anything about the Middle East, or Gaza, or the Ukraine, on their social media accounts, because "Nobody can protect you. These are dangerous times." We know that Columbia gave in to Trump's demands to recover $400 million in funding. Free, my foot.1 point

I never even noticed the search function had been turned off. Wasn't that long ago that I used it. I have no idea why it's off now. But your inability to look is not my problem that doesn't change what I said or didn't say We are talking about what Trump said, nobody cares what you said. First off the oath keepers are not representatives of the right. Sorry. ANy more than antifa is representative of all people on the left. Second ... salon? really? Go away if that's the best you can do , an opinion piece in salon is of zero value. I've already demonstrated the democrats and the left have the same obsession. Neither has trump. Gotcha Blah blah blah as usual biden or obama or the left does a thing and you think it's JUST FINE and the right does something and you're insisting it's pure evil. I know you think hypocrisy is horrendously convincing for some reason... it isn't. And if you won't call out bad behavior when your side does it then you have zero right when anyone else does. And your little routine of "Sure biden and obama raped america too but at least they sometimes used a CONDOM so it's way better' is boring. And? there's nothing wrong with signing executive orders. They're part of the process. It probably means those presidents who signed more of them got more done. The problem is when you use executive orders inappropriately to exceed the intended powers of the office of the president. And sorry .... they did that just as much And you sat by and clapped. Can't complain now.1 point

What's the matter? Couldn't find a LEGITIMATE LINK from a site that actually vets its reporting? Everyone (else) knows that illegal immigrants all use the same SS numbers unbeknownst to the legitimate holders. Of course this story is about immigrants who are LEGALLY PRESENT in the US. IF it is even true (Muskrat has been caught LYING many times), getting an SS number DOES NOT register you to vote. Very few immigrants want to vote badly enough to jeopardize their admittance to this country. 💡1 point

If you come from a major position in the private sector you’re likely to have some potential conflicts of interest, not bizarre Trumpy ones where you’re clearly trying to rip the whole country off but as a natural consequence of your previous work. If we want such people in politics we need to give them some leeway on this. Somebody even mentioned the use of tax havens. To this I would say, if something is legal and you don’t like it, campaign to get the law changed.1 point
