I have to laugh at this post. Many years ago, we had just bought a new and quite expensive piece of equipment for our business, and my wife had been asking to think about a larger car for her as our 2 kids she hauled all over the place were becoming teens and were quite tall. We thought that we would look at a minivan because, what the heck, everyone else has one. Went to local Chrysler store and asked to see a loaded up AWD Grand Caravan - and they had one in off of lease with low miles. They gave it to us for weekend, and we left them telling that we would need to finance for a couple months as I had just spent all of our available cash. We ran our business on zero credit simply because we don't like debt. Brought the van back Monday telling them 16 mpg just didn't fit into our 60mpg normal experience. Finance guy said that this was fine since there is no way to extend any credit to us. Turns out we didn't have a good credit rating and we didn't have a bad one - we had NO credit rating at all so their lending protocols simply didn't fit. About a dozen or so year later, our youngest graduated and wanted to buy her first new car. She wanted a Jeep (for business use) so here we were back at the same Chrysler store. She had just bought a house and was to start work in a few days, so I slipped her a wad of cash for the downstroke and we took a test drive. When we came back, the finance guy was standing there with the other set of keys in hand and asked us to come in and sign off. About half way through, he looks at me and says: "I know you from somewhere" and after a bit...:"YOU'RE the no credit rating guy!". We both had a great laugh that someone who could most days stroke a cheque for any car on his lot he couldn't finance for a cheap used car but the kids we raised and put through 20 odd years of University could get a shiny new one AND a new house without even having a job!!!!!! You are so right: it is all about the credit rating - but that has nothing to do with "capitalist economics" it is about how the credit business has grown and evolved. In my much younger years as a banker, we were expected to know our customers and made lending decisions up to a branch limit right at the counter. Today, lending is so huge and involves so many poorly or untrained front offices (and this now includes banks) their book is controlled by procedures that take 99% of the discretionary authority away from the contact level operative. It has been replaced by protocols that simply refer to the very arbitrary and narrowly defined set of rules that establish a credit rating. This is nothing to do with capitalism, it is simply about consumerism. If it was about capitalism, a capitalist pig such as myself would be welcomed with open arms.

If you get covid "information" on TV then you must have a channel that I don't have. I just have CBC, CTV, Global and Chek where I live. It's a mix of fear mongering, bullshit, hysteria, hyperbole, disinformation along with some Trudeau protectionism/propaganda. I had to get my covid information from statistics on the web, stats which weren't shared by our Canadian broadcasters.

Fox is biased, CNN is a thoroughly discredited disinformation network. That's the difference. All the BS on CNN about Russian collusion, women have to be believed unless they're accusing leftists, Suleimani was a beloved father figure, Trump has no apparent strategy in the ME, Trump slipped on a ramp so he must be senile, Trump is senile but Biden is fine, Trump asked for a favour and then talked about Burisma, Trump called veterans losers, Trump invented kid cages, women were forced to drink from toilets, M Brown was a gentle giant, Brionna was a sleeping beauty, Rayshard was shot for running away, cops are committing genocide against blacks, asking voters for ID is racist, mail-in ballots are impervious to fraud and signature-verification is an attempt to disenfranchise Demmies, walls are racist and they don't work, all whites are guilty of systemic racism, Biden did nothing wrong in Ukraine, Trump referred to immigrants as animals, riots were peaceful, etc is unrivalled on Fox News. Fox has no equivalent level of bullshit stories to match up with that. Not even close. Plus CNN got busted for cheating on the debate between Trump & Hillary and they were successfully sued for defamation of character by a high school kid.

They can't see it because passively garnering network ratings for advertising revenue (old model) has been completely overwhelmed by social media affirmations and opiates for the masses (new model). Subscribers, followers, likes, re-tweets, etc. have become dopamine for the insatiable appetite of social media users, demanding more and more injections to satisfy their cravings. CNN and other networks are plugged into social media frameworks for additional "content", political alignments, and desired relevance with coveted demographic groups. Advertisers have to walk a minefield of social and political traps that is proving harder to navigate. Some are beginning to walk away from the network and social media drug as they recognize the personal and professional consequences of continuing to play this game. Others can't get enough of it.

In regards to not being able to find a family doctor, i had the same experience, after getting out of the army i was put on a list 3 years later, and having to wait up to 8 hours to get prescriptions filled. A friend of mine told me to write to the premier, i drafted up a letter, explained my circumstances that i had been on the waiting list for 3 years, Within 2 weeks i had gotten a call for the minister of health, and she had given me a date and time to have an interview with a doctor.... and if that did not work out to call her and she would find another for me... my tax dollars at work for me...

Global Affairs has always been a bastion of far left liberal ideology. This is the group which cheered Trudeau's arrival like groupies at a rock concert, so ecstatic were they to have someone 'like us'. There are few if any conservative types at that department. They wouldn't be hired, and if they were, accidentally, they wouldn't be promoted and would be frozen out.

Yup. The 'adult in the WH' is like their main theme. Whenever Joe mumbles something they never have to notice that he tripped over his words again, they don't have to weigh the merits of his statement or discuss the long and short term ramifications of it, they just have to throw out a platitude because leftists never tire of them. They also like: 'he's what we needed at this moment' (they use that on his appointees as well, but it sounds a lot like - 'we know he sucks but he'll do for now'), and his speech was like a big hug (*barf*).

The problem that the Conservatives face is that the MSM is a bunch of radicalized socialists who will obliterate the Conservatives for forgetting to dot an i or cross a t, while the PM can wear blackface and call the Japanese ambassador Chinese all day long. The PCs have to play the game the way the media lets them play it or they are finished. I was really hoping that Dr Lewis would win the leadership of the Conservatives because she's the only person in the party right now who can say intelligent, meaningful things without being branded as a racist Nazi slaveowner by the CBC and CTV.
