I very much have to disagree with this. Socialism IN THEORY treats greed as a sin, but it is nothing but pure greed that inspires EVERY socialist leader to reward themselves and their friends far in excess of what every other citizen will ever see. That is why absolute socialism as demonstrated by such visionary leaders as Chairman Mao, the Kim dynasty, Maduro, Castro and let's be honest the USSR's great communist revolutions resulted in nothing but mass deprevation and death for the citizens while the leadership went on to live extremely comfortable lives. The only way socialism succeeds for its citizens is to operate under the much more transparent social democracies that can check dishonesty and greed. AND, you will note: every successful social democracy lives ONLY within a capitalist economy tempered by social POLICY, not ownership of ALL of the means of production. Similarly it is not capitalism that worships and rewards greed, it is Casino Capitalism that uses capital for speculative gain and CREATES NO WEALTH - which is also the Achilles heal of full bore socialism. Capitalism rewards productivity, not greed. Unfortunately, we have not learned to recognize the difference between endeavor that creates wealth vs. systems that do nothing but re-distribute wealth. The latter is easily identified by the common charactaristic that wealth is redistributed according to privilege granted to those who can exploit it from greed - be it within a so-called capitalist economy or a socialist/communist one.4 points

Patience is vital. Life will be longer if you have patience. You won't actually live 100 years, it will just seem that long.2 points

Fascism is Roman in origin, ultimately. Roman Lictors carried the fasces as a symbol of Rome's authority. One stick was weak...many sticks were unbreakable. Benny & Dolf gave it a rather modern spin... It isn't a tribute to the individual...but rather the collective. Socialism/Communism/Nazism/Islam all agree that the state controls every aspect of life. The individual is subservient to the state...not the other way around. All are fascist by nature.2 points

The above information, while a valiant attempt at maintaining control of your information privacy, becomes absolutely moot when you are running Windows 10 by Microsoft. Win 10, is, a spyware operating system. Government sanctioned, no less. Under Windows 10 all your files, commands, text that you type and even your voice input can be monitored remotely without your awareness. Likewise with computer hardware. New motherboards are built with certain chips that give direct access to the data pipeline, irregardless of OS. Or like my Pappy used to say, The calls... are coming from inside the house... from inside the house!2 points

Many western nations reacted the same way....there are more Covid deaths in the EU than in the USA. Over 15,000,000 Chinese nationals died partially due to government incompetence when invaded by the Imperial Japanese Army. The evil American capitalists and other allies helped China out with that problem.2 points

because its coming... and its going to be fun! first up, two weeks to go and Trumps legal team quit! Trump’s top impeachment lawyer has left his team all reports are that Trump just wants to go over the rigged election claims again. will we see Giuliani and Powell take the stand to claim that election machines were rigged? while they are being sued for $1.5 billion dollars from those machine makers? hahahaha! will they even agree to be witnesses? i could see the first question out of a Ds mouth for them... "did the election machine makers rig the election results?" Giuliani's response "um...".1 point

I would like to start a thread on the above-named subject(s). I propose to exclude the military aspects of 'classic' guerilla wars from discussion, i.e "countryside surrounds the city" wars, like Cuba and China, although I would include measures taken by the guerilla forces to win popular support. But this proposed exclusion is just a preference and nothing anyone posts is likely be barred. I would like to see reference to the 1789 and 1830 in France, 1848 in European countries where uprisings took place, the Paris Commune, Russia 1905 and 19-17-1921, Germany 1918-1923. These are are suggestive examples, not an exclusive list. Since none of us, I suspect, are possessed of much detailed knowledge in this area, I would expect, initially, most posts to be references to books and academic papers. Better too much than too little. Technical/military details of Urban Counter-insurgency stuff is not really what I'm looking for but it might turn out to be of interest. So don't be inhibited in posting references. My main interest is not the technical/military aspects of insurrection -- how to take building, for example -- but the psychological aspects. My interest was sparked by the so-called 'insurrection' in Washington on 6 January of this year. As I read about it and watched videos, I kept thinking ... 'Boy, do you guys ever have no idea about what an insurrection is'. And then I realized I didn't know all that much myself. I'll start things off with the following four classics, all available for freedown load: https://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/1930/hrr/index.htm Trotsky's History of the Russian Revolution. How to do it. https://libcom.org/library/armed-insurrection-neuberg-1928 The collective work of various Comintern worthies. How not to do it. https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1850/class-struggles-france/index.htm Marx's take. https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1871/civil-war-france/ch05.htm There must be many historical monographs and other academic papers on this subject. I have access to JSTORE and will eventually do a search there, but if anyone has suggestions now, please post them.1 point

Hitler allied himself with leaders of German conservative and nationalist movements, and in January 1933 German President Paul von Hindenburg appointed him chancellor. Hitler’s Third Reich had been born, and it was entirely fascist in character. Within two months Hitler achieved full dictatorial power through the Enabling Act. In April 1933 communists, socialists, democrats, and Jews were purged from the German civil service, and trade unions were outlawed the following month. Well they definitely weren't leftists, I can guarantee that much.1 point

No. They were peacefully chanting "Pigs in a blanket. Fry em like bacon". That's an important distinction. They wouldn't be considered Nobel-worthy if they were rudely advocating for the cruel murders of police officers. What were you thinking?1 point

Up until, say...your 10,000th argument...then you get a bit bored and look for things to amuse. This is a good old website...deserves a thoughtful citizenry. That said, it's always amusing to me when folks blather that Nazis were "Right Wing". These people tend not to... 1. Understand what Nazis were...and I say it as a thing of the past. Oh...but they were Nationalists....they'll smugly counter. If that's the case, Nationalists that wanted to control the entire planet. 2. Understand what "Right Wing" is and where the term...and "Left Wing"...came from. It is neither Nazism nor Communism. Both terms are from the French Republic...that is: Democracy.1 point

Weren't these groups at these protests (who we're told we're not allowed to think of as BLM) chanting the old BLM chant "Pigs in a blanket. Fry em like bacon?"1 point

Is there a mathematical symbol for 'allegedly?' Because isn't it more like the organization...idea, whatever you want to call it of Antifa as it manifests itself on the street is more like ANTIFA=FASCISM1 point

BLM is a ANTIFASCIST Group. Anti, anti, anti...is AGAINST something! The term "antifa" is short for anti-fascist. In general, people who identify as antifa are known not for what they support, but what they oppose: Fascism, nationalism, far-right ideologies, white supremacy, authoritarianism, racism, homophobia and xenophobia. Mostly, people aligned with antifa are on the left of the political spectrum. Antifa is not, however, affiliated with Joe Biden, the Democratic Party or its leaders. Biden has condemned antifa and called violence "unacceptable." And yes! You will always have the Elements that screws it up for everybody. Meaning you do have the very few BLM/ANTIFA idiots who does not understand the CAUSE, instead they loot and vandalize properties. You sir and I assume you're white, thus speaking from your white privilege convictions; meaning when a black person complain he/she is a criminal, lazy ....When I white person complains, it his/her Right!1 point

I guess I just made this part up then: Her whole speech was a mix of fear & hate mongering, appeals to pathos, convoluting covid fear with racial discrimination, and it peaks with a message to go join the rioters. For anyone who doesn't know what not-so-subtle dog-whistling looks like, this was it. 1) It wasn't BLM. Anyone who said that was mistaken, but iirc some people were chanting BLM slogans. 2) It would be a huge compliment to BLM to say that their supporters would show up to show support for a white girl who suffered at the hands of police. The subject of police sometimes crossng a line when dealing with white people is verboten to BLMers. 3) You are the useful idiot who blindly supports the party that is actively doing harm to the black community in the US. Telling black people that they don't have hope to get a good job, or that they might get killed by police is telling them to drop out of school and sell drugs. No one on earth would pay a business or life coach to tell them that they have no hope or opportunity. The Tony Robbins's of the world give the exact opposite message of what the Dems give their followers.1 point

An academic manages to escape before being jailed. How nerdy of him to pack books and a laptop in his backpack ahead of a trek through mountains and 1.5 m snow! Back in the Eighties, a friend of mine made the trip the other way, from Iraq to Iran with Kurdish smugglers, and said it was far more frightening than the war he left or the POW camp he was soon in.1 point

The monied elites learned a long time ago that the easiest way for them to coopt leftists and leftwing movements is to put a laser-like focus on identity politics issues, to 'erase' class antagonisms between rich and working classes from being up for discussion. The liberal billionaires and their millionaire servants discovered that they can get a lot of mileage and completely disarm any liberal-left critics by appointing a few token women and visible minorities in high places...CEO's of every major weapons-producer...like new Defense chief- Lloyd Austin, who received some...extremely limited consternation for needing a special waiver from the new prez to be accepted as Defense Secretary. The whole point of this cabinet position to start with, was to have the chief of what had previously been known as the War Department under civilian/not military control! Along with the power and influence of the makers of more and more expensive weapons and delivery systems coopting former generals and admirals, it's easy to see how the US Government has devolved into a permanent war state that can't allow peace to break out anywhere in the world! Not even someone like Trump was allowed to end US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan by House Democrats who overruled his late decisions to bring troops home! So, I think we can expect that the actions of a centrist Democrat president will actually be to make the world an even more dangerous place than the most bellicose Republican ever could! Military budgets will increase and strip more and more from domestic priorities, and more saber-rattling and proxy wars will be engaged in to keep troops in their bases, carriers sailing the oceans, and the missiles flying and bombs dropping around the world. What could go wrong? But none of these things....which used to be liberal priorities years ago, intrude on the thinking of present day liberals whose concerns are all grounded by identity politics. So that, as much as I see him as a great disappointment or potential fraud, Bernie is made a target because of his skin color and gender by liberal opinion shapers who as the SF Chronicle editorial displays, still have many brainwashed followers who don't have enough sense to focus and work first in their own economic interests!1 point

omg. i think most of the people storming (Fox news verbiage) the capitol were Fox news watchers. people in distress are often not capable of obeying the police. if they are not a danger to themselves or others then they need to be dealt with differently. are you so clued out about these facts? come on. and i guess, people do have a right to fight with the police when those police are breaking the law or hindering your constitutional freedoms. there are cops going to jail as we speak. the ones in the earlier instance just lost their jobs. and they could have dealt with the issue differently. the 9 year old was upset. she was not a danger to herself or others.1 point

A San Francisco teacher has been ridiculed for her 'performative wokeness' after she claimed that viral Bernie Sanders wearing mittens at President Joe Biden's inauguration was a lesson in 'white privilege and male privilege.' High school teacher Ingrid Seyer-Ochi penned the San Francisco Chronicle op-ed published on Sunday, nearly two weeks after Sanders and his mittens took the internet by storm. In it, she criticized the 79-year-old senator for wrapping up against the cold in his mittens and winter coat, while she claimed that his female colleagues, and especially women of color such as Vice President Kamala Harris, did not have the same opportunity to dress down for such a prestigious event. "Sen. Sanders is no white supremacist insurrectionist. But he manifests privilege, white privilege, male privilege and class privilege, in ways that my students could see and feel,' Seyer-Ochi, who earns six figures working for the San Francisco Unified School District, wrote. Ingrid Seyer-Ochi, a high school teacher in San Franscisco, has received criticism after publishing an op-ed calling Bernie Sanders' mittens a lesson in 'white privilege' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9212253/San-Francisco-teacher-says-Bernie-Sanders-mittens-lesson-white-male-privilege.html1 point

This is such a graphic illustration of bureaucratic, and entrenched corporate mentality though, even before strategies and solutions are made. A clearly extraordinary situation; many people in distress; as a principal service provider in the country, what do you do? Open the service, hire more people to offer both better service and opportunities? No. You cancel all regular hiring (go ahead and check); hide behind the corporate walls complete with automatic response systems (sorry, we're experiencing high call volume please call another time, goodbye!) and put out cheerful slogans, "in it together and looks pretty good!". Surely it worked always (somehow) so why not this time around?1 point

Not very precise targeting....healthy and unhealthy people around the world were also impacted. The U.S. economy only shrank by 3.5% in 2020...less than Canada's estimated 5%. China will need to come up with a better idea to kill America.1 point
