It appears that the New York outbreak came from Europe and not China. And some people think this disease was in the general population as early as January, we just couldn't recognize it. If people go really sick in January, but hadn't travelled, they may have assumed it was just the flu, but it's very possible they had COVID-19 and didn't know it. We won't know until reliable Antibody testing is available.1 point

It’s gotten so bad that they’ve started having Joe’s wife give the speeches while he stands and watches.1 point

Economy "destroyed" worldwide. The immediate response from people in recovering from this crap without money and indebted is to buy the cheapest stuff that's available. Welcome back China.1 point

You may have heard there is a major extinction event happening in the world now. Headlines like this can be found, but you must google for it specifically. World Leaders, Media Ignore Biodiversity Report Detailing Mass Extinction Event Now Underway (May 24, 2019) We don't give a crap about species extinction, it means gone forever. No more re-spawns. We don't talk about it because the solution does not appeal to us. It means less wonderful technological conveniences. So carry on raping the environment and playing video games, and bitching about your politics, all we fucking stupid apes.1 point

I agree, the future for Canada should be to protect its still-vast boreal forests and natural places. I dislike the term "resources", as though they are there only for the market. Same as I dislike using the term "Human Resources". It needs to be protected all the more so now, both land and water, because of the huge industrial demand by the tech industry, and Canada doing trade with huge countries, and Canada has no real industry of its own. In Canada, the industry is the Boreal forest. That threatens to consume all this nature, the technological society desires to turn the forest and all the richness that it has, all the life and beauty, into a cell phone.1 point

Yes, everyone is aware of the fact that China covered up the initial outbreak, the evidence for that is irrefutable. There is no evidence however that the WHO didn't tell Trump everything it knew or that the Americans in the WHO were lying or complicit or ignorant of the WHO spreading the virus further because it just didn't happen. But I get it. Trump is to you as God is to Betsy and Trudeau is Satan. Have it your way. Over and out.1 point

Zeitgeist and others display their Pavlovian response to any gun crime. The politician of the day (boy Trudeau) will announce new controls for those law abiding firearm owners, Zeitgeist and his ilk will blather-on about this subject that they know nothing about, and farmer/rancher, hunter, competitive shooter, etc. gets branded as a potential gun crime criminal. Alan Rock was one of the stupidest politicians in a very long time. Pander to the uninformed inner-city voters.1 point

One other thing, guns aren't the best option for terrorists either. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing The Oklahoma bomber used diesel fuel and fertilizer, neither of which can be regulated like guns can. He killed 168 people and injured 680 more. There were also several very "successful" terrorist attacks using trucks, and as a result, there have to be concrete blockades at Christmas markets. But let's talk about gun control every time there's a mass killing, even when it has nothingto do with current gun control laws.1 point

So being a competent president doesn't matter, as long as Canada is watching. Interesting priorities.1 point

Okay Trudeau had moved to Rideau cottage as a form of self-isolation. Canada has official residences just north of Ottawa inside Quebec. I trust the CBC over most networks because I know journalists first hand and the standards of accountability and reporting. FOX News may have journalistic integrity in much of its reporting too, but it also has a lot of sensationalism and opinion with particular political perspectives. The problem with all mainstream journalism, especially on privately funded networks, is that it is fighting for viewership in order to gain advertisers. That often plays out in sensationalism and provocative talking points. Noam Chomsky talked about this decades ago. It’s not particular to CNN, FOX or NBC, but you’ll find more of it there than on PBS or even the CBC, which is funded both by taxes and advertising.1 point

Sorry, just teasing. You are right, I could have done without that part. But then things get a little too dry around here.1 point

Your title allows these leftists to use it to dismiss everything else you say. But never mind those kind of losers, the questions you have raised are still quite valid. If not conspiracy then surely complete stupidity. I'll go with the latter for now. What you see is the efforts of incompetent micro-managers who are doing things out of their perception of our best interests. They don't really know anything about viral transmission they make up rules as they go along in accordance with misguided notions of common sense. Or to put it simply, the road to hell is paved with "good intentions". Cheers.1 point

I get it fire arms scare the crap out of you, and for some reason your done with debating the topic, You've made up your mind, and will not change it....and in your mind you want to force all Canadians to restrict more like cancel any hobbies or sporting activities they have because you have this fear and need to force your opinion on others... Liberals and others like you have not produced any real life states or facts that would justify the rest of Canada need to ban these wpns. What is next kitchen knifes, hunting knives, bayonets', axes, maybe we should ban cars as they kill more Canadians than any fire arm has...shit what about impaired driving, that claims thousands every year, and yet there is no cries to ban any of those items....neither by you or the liberals. Canada's gun laws are already restrictive enough...BTW the liberals still have not brought into law the last series of new gun laws they have promised, so why is there a rush to get this done, to make us safer....so why have they not passed these new amendments into law it's been what 5 years now.... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/canada-gun-facts-crime-accidental-shootings-suicides-1.48033781 point

No, it was largely useless, and filled with inaccuracies. Gee, maybe because some psycho might come to our door to shoot us and the cops are 10-20-30-40 minutes away? That will not happen. No politician will address the free flow of arms through the cross-border reserves, and the judges have stated very clearly they will not allow mandatory minimum sentences for the smuggling, sale, purchase or possession of illegal weapons. Nor will they issue severe sentences, regardless of the scale parliament writes into law. Parliament can state a sentence up to twenty years for something, but judges will continue to hand out a year or two, and then give them 2 or 3 for 1 off because of pre-trial custody - regardless of what parliament says. Remember, the Tories tried to put in mandatory minimums and tried to eliminate the pre-trial custody deal. The judges said no. And they're in charge.1 point

This is nothing more than another liberal attempt at deflection of their excellent handling of the pandemic, and the dumping of hundreds of billions of tax payers dollars. In this case it will be tied into this recent shooting which it already has.....where the shooter had illegal firearms a hunting rifle, hand gun and shot gun, plus a RCMP hand gun, no mention of those nasty assault rifles, but they will some how be worked into the narrative somehow... ... it has nothing to do with overall safety of our citizens, but rather a feel good liberal exercise in further complicating the ownership of weapons.1 point
