  1. Since there isn't much worth watching on TV we've been watching quite a bit of Youtube. Everything from movies to how to video's. We just watched The Iron Maiden the other night with Allan Hale, a good light hearted movie. Another we watched was The Colour of Magic based on the Terry Pratchett disc world novels. I've seen Always several times, in fact I used to own it on VHS. It's not bad but is actually just a reimagined remake of an older movie. Still worth watching though.

  4. Haha, it's been explained. Continuing to explain to those willfully ignorant is an exercise in futility. You and Betsy feel authority has been given you to judge and condemn your fellow humans based on your own interpretations, inferences and assumptions of what scripture says. Nothing is going to change that. Religious entitlement is a nasty attitude.

  5. What is in a word..ignored some reports outright...dismissed some outright... uderestimated some..."lost" or "misplaced" or "hid" some...I worked in government so we had ways to be ordered how to ignore things we should have done but someone else did not want done . Smoke and mirrors. Little bureaucratic fiefdoms each with a leader trying to preserve power. A lot of dysfunction, contradiction, redundancy, conflict. Trust me when I say you should have never trusted me or any one in an institution especially when we claimed or claim to be divine. From top to bottom there is a lot of deliberate and unintenional blindness...and in the end run..we screw up and we molest.. the question is can we learn from our mistakes. Probably with the unintentional ones..probably not with the intentional ones . You need to expose corruption and hold its creation and institutionalization publically accountable. Easier said than done Did anyone learn anything from Nuremberg? Regards, Cawk Roach

  6. The tragic thing about all of this is that there ARE lots of good teachers, professors and EAs out there. There are a lot of bad and indifferent ones too. Sadly in my program (Business) the best professors were on contract and only taught one or two classes a year and ran successful businesses for the majority of their time. The actual tenured professors were a waste of time other than the odd exception. At least with universities and colleges you can review your professors and the administration DOES take that into account where they can with those on contract. My third year Finance professor was suspended for a year after my cohort took his finance class. In the public schools (or professors with tenure), however, we have no such mechanism. Bad teachers or lazy teachers (which at this point I'd argue are the majority) have iron-clad job security and thus no motivation to make the extra effort. We, of course, are supposed to believe that they're all martyrs and that the fact that some of them pay for classroom art supplies makes up for their phenomenal wages, benefits and job security, but that's far from the truth.

  7. You refuse to do a great many things, the most obvious being objective critical thinking. The fact is that we have really no idea what the situation on the ground is in China. I don't trust a single thing they say and don't believe their virus numbers are even remotely accurate, but the idea that they herded sick people from Wuhan to places around the world (and kept them from moving within China) is comical. It's as likely as not that there are all sorts of sick people in Beijing that we're not hearing about, but why should you care? You're quoting Fox News. Truth and facts aren't really important to you.

  9. This is the crux of it. Christians especially somehow have gotten the idea that they have been given the same authority on earth as Jesus was given. Jesus was the Son of God. He was given the authority to judge humans, the authority to condemn humans because he was a perfect human - something not even Betsy can claim to be. No individual Christian was given that same authority - yet they take it for themselves and think nothing of it. There were only 2 instructions given to followers - 1. Love God with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength. 2. Love your neighbour. That was it. That was all. They were given no power to judge others. They were given no power to condemn others. They were given no power to force change on others. Yet, here they are - judging, condemning and forcing others to accept their OWN interpretations. They had better been REEEEEEAAAALLLLL clear on what God disapproves of then. Or they are in violation of the second commandment Jesus gave - love for others. Like sapper, I have no problem with religious nutters spouting their own interpretations of what God disapproves of. In all the time Jesus was supposedly on earth - he said nothing about homosexuality. He did, however, say a lot about judging and condemning others harshly. A true Christian would go by what Jesus actually SAID and DID and no further. To judge on condemn fellow humans based on what you THINK Jesus really meant or what you SUSPECT he was inferring on a matter, well, that doesn't seem to be what Jesus instructions for his followers were. His strongest condemnations in the Bible were for the harsh, exacting and rule-making religious leaders. I don't think Betsy thinks about any of this, though. She has given herself the same authority as the Son of God AND with the harsh, condemning and judging ofthe Pharisees - a dangerous position to put oneself in, if you are a true believer.

  11. When he's a drooling moron with less knowledge of how the world, government and institutions function than a retarded corn farmer who's never gone to school. I'm wholly uninterested in your fantasies about what 'good things' your God has done. If you want to brag about him go into the US topics and bore people there. This is not a US topic. Discussion about how he failed to listen to intelligence agencies is, however, on topic. Discussion of how wonderful he is are not. Trump has already repeatedly demonstrated he does not trust his intelligence community, and that he thinks he knows better than them, just as he knows better than the generals. He is not a politician so much as a blustering narcissistic demagogue who lives in his own world. Bullshit. They had warning. They just ignored it. Johnson's health minister was holding emergency meetings about Covid19 in early January. For all of Hancock's current difficulties – from testing targets to an ongoing PPE headache – one thing it's difficult to seriously accuse him of is brushing off the virus in January. If anything, he was boring people about it back then (as those who met him at The Spectator’s Parliamentarian of the Year awards dinner can attest). He held his first Covid meeting in the Department on 6 January and discussed it with the PM the next day. A meeting of Nervtag the 'New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group' was held on 13 January. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/did-the-government-really-brush-aside-the-coronavirus-threat-in-january-

  12. I'm not disagreeing with any of those points, and I'm certainly not advocating for online classes. I think it's frankly pretty dumb that we're at the point where we even consider it, especially for elementary and highschool. The root of the problem, however, is money. The idea that everyone should be able to go to university and take whatever they want, I think, is a sorely misguided use of public funds and in many cases (some of my friends from uni come to mind) a waste of resources. While you definitely want to make sure that people have the opportunity to get a post-secondary education, I don't think we need to be paying to drag people who don't care and don't try through their 3 and 4 year degrees.

  13. I never called Trump or Trudeau a criminal and argued calling them traitors was partisan bullshit. I actually argued that along with Y very early on these threads. You now try back flip claiming Trump is a criminal because he has done no different than what Trudeau and every ther leader is guilty of...verbal diaheria? Excuse me thevd perfessof read you quite clearly. Don't back pedal. You have accused and placed Trump on the same level as the Chinese leader but no other world leader . You argueecan assumption that US officials had the exact same info as their Chinese counterparts which was now been exposed as clearly not the case, I.e., the WHO held back info from China to other countries...a deliberate decision by China. Next you equate Trump to the Chinese leader. Why? Wouldbyou would have people believe Trump ordered a cover up and then ordered people murdered who tried to reveal the extent of the virus spread like China did? ...What he allows wet markets to engage in unsafe practices? What..he ordered the AMA, the Surgeon General and Fauci killed? He arrested and killed Cuomo? What he locks down people without their consent as they did in China while in the next breath you also complain he has not locked enough people down in Minnesota? Just who has had arrested and ordered killed? Which doctors? Which hospitals in the US have no doctor as you now see in China? Trump clearly engages in unpopular rhetoric. To go the next step and equate him to the Chinese leader is bullshit. It's also bullshit to hold him a different level of moral behaviour than other world leaders for the same diaheria. He has no more dirrect control of the pandemic policiesb n his country than you do. In China the Communist Party structure has no compunction to let millions die world wide as minor collateral damage in the name of the greater need to preserve its economy and continues to make profit selling medical equipment and you blame Trump? Trumpmwishesvhd could be a ruthless dictator like Putin, Kim, Erdogan or the Chinese leader. He is just a toothless lion. Where is your evidence he has countemanded vanything Fauci ordered that caused a death? Where is the evidence he ordered a cover up or murder? He's guilty of verbal diaheria. So are you. So do we put you in jail? Hey there is only one toilet in here and I aint sharing it. It's bad enough I gotta share the cell with an obese Russian transvestite Putin got bored with. You know what borsht and body odour smells like?

  14. I’m not suggesting anything. I’m stating in no uncertain terms that the WHO certainly did go against Trump because after Trump banned travellers who had been to China in the past 14 days, Tedros made a public speech to the world that banning fliggts from China was wrong. You’re the one suggesting, and grasping at straws, in an attempt to incriminate someone who took positive action, while at the same time you’re blatantly ignoring the 100% negative actions of a person who should be of far greater concern to yourself. We had Canadians in the WHO. Did they come up with any useful advice for Canadians eyeball? If so, what was it? You act like you know something that no one else on earth has any evidence of, and it all points to Trump being wrong. Why did Trump do the right things despite the bad advice of the WHO? Why did tge WHO make a point of saying that was really bad? Why did out government do every single stupid thing that the WHO said? Why do Canadians give Canada’s leader a glowing review for being 100% wrong at every stage of the game up to March 16th, and give America’s leader a big racist X for doing non-racist things that are proven by science and common sense to be effective and correct? Are Canadians just stupid enough to parrot CNN no matter how idiotic their accusations are, despite the fact that everyone on earth knows CNN has no relationship with accuracy or integrity? Is CBC’s Liberal propaganda really powerful enough to lead Canadians around by the nose, against all logic and reason? What would it take to get these bumfuzzled Canadians to actually consider the things we all know for certain, and think for themselves, instead of letting known liars tell us what to think?

  17. The post Sars pandemic plan all countries should have implemented was ignored. The failure to clean up wet markets was ignored. The Chinese cover up was deliberate. All 3 led to this current crisis. Proper planning protocols would have contained the virus far faster and may have even avoided the need a lock down.Ths issue is not guaranteeing viruses never exist... it is however in containing and treating them as early and quickly as possible which we chose not to do. Pretending we did not see a repeat Sars type virus coming is just not true. We knew and did nothing. This was not 9 11 where we had a general idea but no specifics. We knew from Sars what we were expecting again and we knew it would come out of Chinese wet markets. No one was blind sided.

  18. Or they didn't ignore them at all, but they didn't have a solution. Certainly a sensible man would hesitate to be sure, before stopping everything. Hence "ignore" in the past might have included refusing to do things that are arguably as bad for society as the virus itself. The only sensible answer is mitigation. Reduce the harm, but not to the point you introduce harm.

  19. I don’t know where you’re getting that, but no, the Chinese government is the only authority that had access to the real virus data and details. Nobody else was allowed to do any investigation and research. Stop carrying water for China. Its disgusting.

  20. Yes, and this explains the rise of the populist left, creepy old men like Bernie that speaks a language familiar to us eastern Europeans, it sounds good but in practice it does not work, it creates a disaster. I said it for years if the system does not correct itself we risk having a major change, that's why populists from the left and right are rising.

  23. I'm thinking longer term....the international travel free-for-all will have to be reigned in with screenings, restrictions, and surveillance testing. Trump predicted the future with more travel bans for entirely different reasons. 29. There have been major realignments in the past for many different crises, but the basics did not change. China is not going to go away or be undermined by changing relationships. Some would argue that China will be in a better position post COVID19 than many other nations, and it already was far more "resilient". Frankly, China is not responsible for the state of western nations' pandemic preparedness. That is the main lesson to be learned.

  30. No, Canada is responsible for its own borders and screening, which was found to be very lacking at the border and at airports. Freeland had to beg Trump for more 3M masks.
