So in this era when medical professionals can't get enough N95 masks, your solution is to fit EVERYONE!!!! with N95 masks. Or people could, you know, just stay the fuck home. And when you do go out don't touch your face and wash your hands a lot.2 points

You do have me and my panties... I am here for you. Actually they are depends. I am trying not to cough or laugh because I want them to last longer what with the stay at home thing.1 point

Closing off travel from China and other places where the virus was rampant 45 days ahead of our PM was a really good one. Trump gets top marks for that, even if America wasn't successful in stopping the virus outbreak. FYI Boges things are absolutes. Social distancing works. Closing off international travel works. Quarantines work. Masks work. Washing your hands works. All of those things work or we wouldn't be doing them. Trump started 45 days earlier than Trudeau. Luckily he did. It definitely saved lives, because taking the prescribed precautions to stop the spread of a virus works. Countries closer to China than Canada is have their covid well under control because they closed their borders and took other precautions right away. Trudeau did the wrong thing, by checking absolutely none of the boxes on the anti-viral precautions list, we are just lucky that our population is so much more spread out that America's is or we'd be in a much worse situation. A big part of America's problem was the mayor of NYC and his top public health official telling people that they should just keep riding the subways, going to restaurants, etc. That's where the virus blew up in NA. There were about 30,000 cases there the last time I looked. "We got lucky" isn't a feather in Trudeau's cap. He was stupid, useless, he has been in hiding for almost 3 weeks now, and he was out of the country being an idiot before that. We have a graphics designer running the show on this health crisis, and our actual public health minister was even worse: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/the-road-to-canadas-covid-19-outbreak-timeline-of-federal-government-failure-at-border-to-slow-the-virus/ar-BB11N7dR?ocid=sf1 point

Why would that surprise you? We all do not have to think and believe what most things are told to us by our politicians and the fake media. There are people like myself who dare to question these so called events like this pandemic one going on right now. I do not believe in social distancing. It is so stupid. But I do believe in social engineering which is what I am believing that I am seeing happening today here in Canada's Alice in Wonderland exercise program and agenda now in full force. I will believe as to what David Icke is saying for now rather than what the professional liars in the media and from some of our dear leader politicians keep trying to push. There is at least three times every hour of every day where this Asian Canadian Health Officer comes on TV and constantly repeats the same thing over and over and over again. She always keeps repeating or trying to brainwash us all into practicing social distancing, and wash your hands. I have heard enough already, I know what appears to be this constant brainwashing drill now. Give me a bloody break. Every time I see her face on TV I want to smash my TV with a hammer. It takes everything I have to not do so.1 point

Complete nonsense. In terms of actual policy, and logistics, Trudeau isn't doing anything differently than Trump, he's just doing them after Trump has already done them.1 point

Look I'm not a very religious man either, I will not blow smoke up your arse and say I have not prayed to the big guy in my time of need, lots of times as a soldier, when my each one of my kids were born, I will say I do not attend church except for funerals and weddings... That being said I find it a little ironic that you don't like it when they impose THIER VALUES on everyone else, but it's ok for others to impose your beliefs on them...things like gay marriage and abortion rights are off the table.. And if you do want to talk about these issues well they deserve to be ridiculed…. key word here is ridiculed...I wonder what else is off limits ? Lots of things are basic rights, clean drinking water ? how about basic shelter ? don't get me wrong I'm not native or do I beat their drum, but when it comes down to being treated equal there are a lot of groups that have lagged behind like the few I mentioned, and those that are the squeaky wheel are getting all the attention because of powerful lobby groups...Today we think that if you do not dance with the LGBT folks your a piece of shit, and own all the ridicule you get......regardless of your own personal values or opinion..1 point

It MIGHT be, and for that reason, I would not discourage use. However, in my technical, logical world, it is more of a vain effort than a probable benefit. Bottom line is: I don't get to make the laws of physics, I just have to live by them.1 point

Fear mongering bull shit. Proper hygiene and testing prevent some deaths, house arrest will not, it may delay certain kinds of transmissions but eventually they come. Delaying death and preventing death are not the same thing. Prevention of death depends on medical treatments. Italy had a high concentration of elderly, many smokers, in condensed areas. Lack of early testing and pandemic protocols were the problems. House arrest was not the issue and us not the cure. It's a symptomatic stop gap reaction until thd other wo can be properly implemented. Trump remains correct. The economy can not be locked down as long as some politicians want, i.e..,6 months. Scapegoating him because he does not spoon feed is ridiculous. He is not the issue implementing early testing is.1 point

That's why you wash your hands and don't touch anyone. But even then, what about all the groceries you buy? What about anything that's delivered. You can go crazy thinking about all the ways you may get the virus.1 point

Random? Random is the illusion produced from not understanding a pattern. Ask any expert on blood splash. I love fractal theory.1 point

You are welcome...but in the morning rush, I neglected to mention that it would be the very small droplets of water that are most easily aspirated through a leak (Bernoulli's principle) and THOSE very small droplets can stay in the air for up to 3 hours. (on edit) for Boges: it is those very small aerosolized particles that are potential source of infection from the air, long, long after the sneezer has vacated. Granted, much lower potential virus loading then some touch transfer might be, but still a vector.1 point

This also speaks to the idea that, unless you're being sneezed on by someone in public, you don't really need a mask. You're not likely to get COVID-19 if share the breathable air with someone else.1 point

1. I could list off about a million things "ordinary" people do in spite of being told constantly and consistently by professionals not to do so. Not arrogance, reality. 2. You are once more making an assumption that is is/was wearing of masks that resulted in the outcomes of Asian countries. There are many, many differences in what happened so as to render that as yet another factor that can not be separated from the noise in the data. 3. Masks are not likely protection FOR an individual, but protection FROM them to some degree. It might catch SOME of the water borne virus within a cough or sneeze. Unfortunately, to be at all effective, a mask has to actually seal to the face of the wearer, and that means clean shaven and rubber seal, plus eyes fully shielded. If a mask leaks around the edges (which EVERY paper/cloth mask will) the lower resistance to flow and higher velocity at the leak will aspirate the smallest of particles and project them out of the leak - exactly what you do NOTwan to do. It then needs a cartridge that guards 100% at 0.1 microns, and if you have ever been around filtration you would know that is an extremely rare and unlikely thing to be able to do (again, this applies to free virus particles, not those contained in water droplets.)1 point

UV is line-of-sight only. The polypropylene fiber in the mask can "hide" most of its surface area from UV. Simply heating the mask above 56C actually does the job. Not sure of the time above critical temp required, but any bio guy can figure that out.1 point

A return to local control and self-sufficiency would require significant changes for agriculture, ag labour, energy, transportation, etc. that would incorporate 19th and early 20th century approaches. As late as the mid-1960's, my family was able to buy produce on the street from a horse driven cart in a major metropolitan city, but it was a quickly fading way of life. Ditto home delivery of dairy products, bread, and beer....no internet required. Agreed, but it is just another symptom of the larger challenge....overpopulation, longevity, and urban density. Nature hates excess for flora or fauna, and viral pandemics are just one way to hold such excess in check. Ageism is the other side of the coin vs. abortions, and median ages will increase until balanced by the inevitable. Only more economic development and education can "flatten" the population curve. OK, but at some point we will not be able to counter demand with more and more supply. Like a tractor pulling contest, we will run out of response capacity. I take the longer view and respect that far more people around the world have benefited from developments and dependencies of the past 100 years...more good than harm along a bumpy ride. We will get through this....make some tweaks..and wait for the next one. The "dumb" dinosaurs lasted for over 150 million years.1 point

Good news ... had a vitual surprise birthday party for my sister yesterday, around 20 people showed up, mostly family, and it lasted over 4 hours. We've never held a party where so many family members showed up. And it was really fun.1 point

If it was just something that they wanted to do to avoid delays then why weren't they upfront with the Opposition parties and provincial premiers from the beginning? Why wait until the very day they were to read the bill in the HoC before releasing their final draft? I can well understand that the government needs the ability to move quickly to respond to new developments during this crisis but that does not give them the right to forgo Parliamentary approval which as has just been demonstrated, can take place in a a day or two.1 point

They were 'fleeing' to the Americas long before that. The Spanish were essentially first in...all that New World gold to be had. The Spanish Main...yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum. The English and Dutch had their pirate economy...preying on Spanish galleons etc. The French...less so....but still some bad ass pirates. L'Olinaise...check that lovely fellow out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/François_l'Olonnais1 point

At this point I wouldn't ban all Chinese immigration, that's why I said no. But we should be very aware of the security risks that a minority of them pose and of the bad intents of the Chinese government, and do our due diligence. That said, I have zero loyalty or duty to any potential immigrants. My concern is Canada. If the above issues can't be secured I would consider banning all Chinese migrants until the Chinese stop stealing from us, but that's a pretty serious thing to do and i'm not at that point yet. Canada certainly hasn't done enough on its end to try and stop it. Trudeau is far more worried about his reputation among left-leaning peers in Canada and internationally than he is about the security of Canada. When you're more worried about impressing your peers rather than doing what's right then you've turned your back on the country for your own ego. The man doesn't know anything about Canadian history other than what his father spun on him, so why should he care anyways.1 point

Over 200 deaths again today. YIKES!!! Gotta wonder if Americans see this as more of a Big City/New York problem, or a National problem.0 points
