  3. Ok I have had it up to my fat head over the sheer non stop stream of corona virus discussion most of it ignorant, untrue, exaggerated, and just out and out idiotic. The actual panic over this virus can be explained: https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/why-coronavirus-has-created-a-panic-despite-low-fatality-rate/ar-BBZuJlw https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/the-coronavirus-is-causing-a-global-panic-but-thats-a-good-thing https://www.sciencefocus.com/news/coronavirus-is-it-a-cause-for-panic/ https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2020-02-12/coronavirus-in-america-keep-your-panic-in-check Let's just summarize it: 1-the virus is new, the reactions to it are NOT; 2-the vast majority of people who contracted it made full recoveries and had mild symptoms-those who have died were already seriously immunity compromised which means its not the virus itself which is fatal but the lack of immunities in a particular individual's body when they have specific pre-existing medical conditions; 3-when something is invisible. appears to be beyond understanding and control in a quick simple response, it creates a threat, then anxiety and panic is a further acting out of the anxiety; 4-internet and cell phones have socially amplified and glued people to a myopic obsession to the virus; 5-the actual chance of getting infected is LOW if you simply wash your hands regularly, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough and do not touch surfaces others touch; 6-flu is far ore infectious and serious and takes far more lives than this virus; 7-people who eat a properly balanced diet, wash their hands at least 20 seconds, if they do eat meat cook it properly and get the right amount of sleep will have sufficient immunities to ward off this or other viruses; 8-every virus has a dna sequence which once coded can then enable us to come up with a vaccine; Let us summarize it again: a-the corona virus is not the problem or killing people and will not kill most people-its secondary infections people with pre-existing immunity deficiencies then catch as these infections piggy back onto the person with the virus that makes them sick or might kill them; b-the secondary infections, i.e., pneumonia are treated with anti-biotics which means in most cases even with immune deficient people anti-biotics, anti-inflamatories and hydration will keep them alive; c-the medical complication leading to respiratory illnesses is caused by swelling and so people are given steroids like Solu-Medrol to reduce the swelling. Ignorance of the above is unintentionally insulting to nurses, doctors, paramedics, firefighters, police or other front-line workers who each day are exposed to thousands of pathogens and contagious bacterias and viruses-panic is a message that says what these people are expected to deal and manage, you and I do not have to and we have a right to engage in irrational behavior but they don"t? How about all the people in countries who live with far more serious contaminants, diseases and pandemics? Why are all of you suddenly panicked over corona never that way in the past over Ebola? When Zeka virus, Avian (bird) flu, Legionaire's disease, Swine flue, Spanish flu spread were you buying toilet paper? Did you buy up toilet paper when you first heard of AIDS? Does your exposure to salmonella poisoning, e-coli bactreria, cause you to panic and buy toilet paper? What the hell has happened to some of you? Well let me say, your governments have not helped. Their shutting down schools giving you the impression this is a constructive way to stop the virus simply fuels your panic. The virus doesn't magically disappear because you slow down its spread-viruses do not disappear and most are quickly contained if you just wash your hands and stop using your cell phones as a petri dish to cultivate and maintain the bacteria and viruses you carry around. Put down that bloody cell phone that leads you by the nose. Wash your friggin hands for twenty seconds, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze and don't lick people's swet or drink their blood. Gee how hard is that? Next use common sense. You want to eat meat, properly clean and cook it damn it. You want to eat mammals you know have diseases, that is your choice, but don't act surprised when they pass on viruses to you. You are not a vulture. Vultures have amazing stomach acids that make them immune to almost any damn virus out there. You act like a vulture but you aint a vulture. Likewise rats and cockroaches other than vultures have the best immunity systems for resisting infection. Not us homo sapiens. There that said, get your carriage full of toilet paper out of my face thank you.

  8. Having our goods made cheaply in China reduces costs, and makes things for us cheaper to buy. I get it. But we need to look at the longterm effects too. Turning a fascist dictatorship that has waged economic warfare against us into the world's biggest economy with 1.4 billion people is very dangerous.

  9. The trick is to slow the spread and prioritize the treatment to those who need treatment. That way the health systems aren’t overwhelmed. It will settle down.

  10. It's the Rue flu virus, and not this flu virus, that I am more worried about. It's for sure that this will all come to an end once the globalist elite bull chit has been exposed. Indeed, as the world population increases there will be more people dying from some kind of flu that seems to comes around once a year. I have been told by a friend who was talking to a pharmacist that if one wants to avoid getting this flu virus then they should go get a pneumonia vaccine shot. Apparently, it is supposed to work. But one can check this out with their pharmacist or their doctor to be sure. Hey, you never know, eh?

  11. Yes let's blame the evil corporations for dirty azz Chinese food markets and people eating cats and dogs. LOL. Yes its always the fault of capitalism and corporations and the west. Don't make anyone actually responsible for their own actions, China is just a victim of the oppressive western oligarchy. Give me a break man. China needs to clean up its act.

  13. Well, I didn't plan on panic buying, just regular shopping, but when I checked, I was low on soaps, TP, disinfectants, etc ... so here I am with bags full of them! Lol Hint: Small stores aren't selling out like big ones. Got everything I need!

  14. My hunch is that this is going to cause serious disruption to the great economies of the world. If the Chinese lift restrictions to supply us with our goodies, the rumbling fire will break out again over there. The Americans are rushing through two new private company viral tests based on the WHO methodology that should have been approved in January, but better late than never. Given that this plague targets the elderly, Iran’s leadership could see a generational change at the least. Research from Germany suggests that people with mild or no symptoms can shed a lot of virus. On a brighter note, our toilet paper reserves are robust. I see Seattle has banned evictions: https://komonews.com/news/coronavirus/seattle-to-issue-emergency-moratorium-on-evictions-due-to-covid-19

  17. Unfortunately the virus doesn't discriminate and it takes many tens of innocent Iranians before killing one regime associate. That said many regime thugs and a few regime ayatollahs have been sent to hell by this virus so far. The virus spread wildly in Iran directly as a result of regime purposely lying again and hiding the facts and figures from Iranians and the world for weeks so that it doesn't affect the parliamentary election turnout and as a result of them lying again to the nation and to the world many thousands are dead or dying now including many in Canada as many recent sufferers have been travelers from Iran. When the world is going to wake up and take this regime out by any possible means? It is now the safety of the whole world in jeopardy not just Iran nation.

  18. I don't plan on reacting as others are by making-a-run on the stores. Yet, I am concerned that if I wait patiently while others aren't, I might be losing out for NOT reacting! I'm going to be pissed if I go to the store to buy some simple necessity only to discover it is either not available or available but super-inflated in price. What is the best thing to do? I know that the government and media will be intentionally attempting to downplay concern for practical reasons. But it is also hypocritical to keep a 24/7 vigilance constantly in our face telling us: "BREAKING NEWS!...BREAKING NEWS!....BREAKING NEWS!", with the reports asserting, "But there is nothing to panick about." using medical/health authorities with absurd and almost psycho-hypnotically calm voices. It reminds me of this old classic:

  19. No but hiding slows it down enough that we can deal with it more effectively. The problem of course is that doing this also slows down our economy which in some people's minds is a cure that's worse than the disease. You've never heard of the economic boogyman known as a recession? We've seen how desperately some people act over a few rolls of toilet paper so imagine the desperation when the supply of bankrolls gets tight.

  20. Many businesses are shutting down, people are laid off, EI will be overburdened and slow in replacing people's income. I understand the 'panic' from that perspective, low wage/precarious workers are stocking up until EI comes through. They have no savings, no personal safety net, and will be entirely dependent on government for rent and necessities.

  22. At the very least we should do everything we can to stop them increasing their influence in Canada. They have been busily spending millions of dollars buying politicians like Trudeau (like the whole Liberal party), using economic threats and rewards to change university curriculums and reports about China, setting up these 'confucious institutes' to indoctrinate Canadian kids, buying Canadian companies, and sponsoring various events throughout Canada. We should put an end to all of this.China is a cruel, imperial fascist state determined to expand its influence abroad by hook or by crook. We should not be meekly cooperating with that. We need a government which will stand up against this and push back against China. That certainly is not the Trudeau government, as they've been China's whores for years.

  24. I think China is a red herring. I don’t fear China. I think we’re seeing the last gasps of a certain way of life that will be replaced by something else. We just don’t know what it will be and it may be better than what we have.

  25. What is a bane on our existence is a country of 1.4 billion people that eat dog and cat. If you think that's a dumb stereotype, they have dog meat food festivals: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/yulin-dog-meat-festival-video-china-blow-torch-animal-cruelty-a8969361.html Coronavirus apparently originated in a seafood market. They have dirty, unsanitary, unregulated food practices that started SARS, different bird flu's, and now COVID-19: https://www.businessinsider.com/wuhan-coronavirus-chinese-wet-market-photos-2020-1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#China "The novel coronavirus and the SARS outbreak of 2003 have two things in common: Both are from the coronavirus family, and both most likely started in wet markets. At such markets, outdoor stalls are squeezed together to form narrow lanes, where locals and visitors shop for cuts of meat and ripe produce. A stall selling caged chickens may abut a butcher counter, where meat is chopped as nearby dogs watch hungrily. Some vendors hock hares, while seafood stalls display glistening fish and shrimp. Wet markets put people and live and dead animals — dogs, chickens, pigs, snakes, civets, and more — in constant close contact. That makes it easy for zoonotic diseases to jump from animals to humans. "Poorly regulated, live-animal markets mixed with illegal wildlife trade offer a unique opportunity for viruses to spill over from wildlife hosts into the human population," the Wildlife Conservation Society said in a statement. In the case of SARS and the new coronavirus disease, called COVID-19, bats were the original hosts. The bats then infected other animals, which transmitted the disease to humans."

  27. PBS is the least problematic for sure, but it still has producers and journalists that pursue a "social justice" agenda on programs like Frontline. To PBS's credit, they do air Margaret Hoover with Firing Line in the spirit of William F. Buckley for a right leaning viewpoint. It is very difficult to find programming with intellectual political discourse because there is no revenue in that. And any academic who dares to offer contrary views gets crucified and doxed by social media. Trump's presidency is just a symptom of the fight in America that started long ago.

  28. This town is officially out of TP. Stupid panicking morons went out and bought every single packet. Not even the expensive stuff, like your triple-plies, and such. Not that we could use that around here anyway, these old toilets always get clogged with that stuff. It has to be two-ply. Nothing at Loblaws. I heard even Shoppers Drug Mart is sold out. Might have to order some online... amazon can get em sent worldwide to your door within the same day.

  29. -Labour shortages and government shutdowns in China impact supply -Business-to-business is disrupted because of international impacts which vary over time -Lower demand, and drastic hits to tourism and other industries -More debt incurred by governments trying to offer relief. The US injected $1.5T into a dying market this week and it only made a slight crackling sound as it burned....

  32. Changing Ontario's arcane liqour laws prove to be harder because of insane contracts the Liberal government signed. Large cancellation penalties and long terms. This is similar to how the Harris PCs sold the 407 and now Ontarians have to pay a private company to use a highway their tax dollars built.

  33. Their own survival is the only thing they care even if they have to kill the entire Iran's population ...wait the entire world's population even. Iraq is not the only one they help what they can take from their own hungry people. They also help Syria, Lebanese terrorist groups and Palestinian terrorist groups not to mention their other few friends like China. They gifted Chinese for example with many thousands of surgical masks so that when the virus hit Iranians they didn't have much left for their own people. Young doctors and nurses are dying now due to lack of protection not to mention thousands of other Iranians while they are hiding in remote motels on the Caspian sea, Wish the virus somehow could only kill mullahs, it would have been historically recorded as Godsend!!!!!!!!!!.

  37. Yes but not because of their skin colour but because of their not being part of their ancestry or traditions. I do not mean so get into a semantic argument with you at all. The poiint I am trying to make is is the same one we Jews do when we explain Zionism. We do not define our collective as a race any more than gays do with their collective or aboriginals do with their collective. Its not something I meant to argue in the sense that the above does not happen. It does. Also the point is no we can not go backwards and uninvent Canada . I agree with your point dwelling on the past not to make changes is pointless. Some aboriginal leaders are in denial, others are realistic and pragmatic, some are trying to find a balance between their traditions and our current Western technological ways. You all know that. I just think we sometimes misstate their collective identity as one based on race. It never was. That's a European concept invented by aEuropean to subjectively describe what people looked like based on secondary genetic characteristics such as lip size, nose shape, hair texture, amount of melanin in the skin. Its been proven scientifically absurd by what we know today about genetics and native peoples in Canada did not use it. Why would they? Also I can not speak for native peoples but someone for the sake of debate as I have, has raised the response. You'd have to ask native peoples how they define themselves. I don't myself define them by nose size or skin colour. I define them by their traditions/customs as they have asked me to. Lol you would no doubt call it being politically correct. No just I hate being referred to as a race-I know how that feels. I do not define you by your race. I define you by our individual opinions. You are Argus to me not someone white guy even if you are an albino.

  39. Governments can change the constitution. Get a conservative one in place, and I bet with all the provincial conservative governments they could get a constitutional amendment passed which said anything they wanted it to say about aboriginal rights. And if you don't think this is gonna happen some day you're kidding yourself. A growing percentage of the population is made up of immigrants and they have ZERO respect for natives and their problems. These are people who came halfway around the world to try and get here and have a better life. You think they have any sympathy for people who insist on living in the boonies and holding their hands out for more welfare? You think they want to continue to pay them because of some ancient treaty with the King of England?

  40. Various bands have been known to expel people who aren't of their tribe, even when married to people who are, esp white people. We're not giving the country back. Nor are we going to give them independence while fully funding them. They need to choose whether they want to become Canadians or live in splendid isolation in hovels in the deep woods far from jobs. If the latter they should stop blaming us. The whole country is open to them. People come from thousands of miles away at a chance to live here, and the natives won't take a bus ride for a better life.
