  1. Well now there's a crock o' shit if there ever was one. You people are famous for your deep adoration for authority and crackin' down and gettin' tough on whatever irks you at the moment. /facepalm I guess that explains why the most right-wing conservative country on the planet can't muster enough resources to even test its population never mind protect it. See how you admire authoritarianism after all? You just can't help yourself. It just comes as obliviously and naturally as breathing to you people. Yes well notice how peaceful and efficient our way of killing off olde conservatives is? Meanwhile you'd be resorting to baton wielding authorities with containment camps and enhanced interrogation to root out infected perps. It's how you guys roll.

  2. Hey...can't make this stuff up. Some Canadian protestors think they have "Miranda rights" because they watch so much American television.

  3. If we'd started fighting 30 years ago when we should have we wouldn't have to be as draconian. Unfortunately to much has been put off for too long. We should have been more alarmist and adamant about the need for action.

  4. I have decided to commemorate the slide into alt right chaos by declaring myself a conservative. I care about the environment, taking care of people as Jesus taught, and good morals.

  7. You are a mean young man. Come close so I can throw my diaper at you. You are funny though. You remind me of myself when I could see my feet.

  8. On the contrary, sir, the right is general more anti-authoritarian. Because conservative right wingers do not need to be told what to do. They already know. Rounding up would be the Chinese method, and it appears to work. Meanwhile around the world we see the outcome of what is proposed by the peaceniks. CoViD death

  9. Why not protest that? Get off your ass and boycott BC, please. I've also repeatedly said the only issue I have with nuclear power is slipshod oversight of the industry and especially oversight of the government regulators. I honesty don't think you people care about accountability anymore than you do the environment. Everything else you said is just a bunch of left-wing derangement syndrome hooey.

  10. Exactly, viruses, or virii have played a major role in human evolution. Only those with a strong immune system will survive. Plus, virii are selective in whom they target it seems. It is interesting to note, in many cases it seems such terrible diseases that spread rapidly in those types of communities you described. The touchy-feely types, the lovey doveys. People who wear lots of perfume, but don't shower that often. You know what I mean.

  12. In Istanbul a few years ago, the siege of 1453 seemed like a recent catastrophe as we drove past Constantinople’s mighty walls and stood in the baffling enormity of Hagia Sophia. Something of the Greek, and Roman, spirit in this city endures.

  13. I’m impressed by the sheer energy you put into these essays. Yes, Erdoğan ıs a loathsome, populist demagogue who brought out the worst in Turkey but he’s facing mass murderers across the border in Assad, Putin, and the Shia fighters of the Iranian mullahs. They are slaughtering civilians indiscriminately. That is the situation NOW. Should Erdoğan let Assad kill everyone he wants to in Idlib? The Kurds and Egypt are work for other days.

  14. Greece is the only country besides craphole Russia where you can travel by land from Asia (including the middle east) and Africa. All of these refugees coming by land to Europe are going through Greece. Not fair to them, they should have sovereignty over their own borders. If I were Greek I'd tell the UN Convention on Refugees to suck it. Refugees have the whole of middle-east, Asia, and Africa to flee. If they're fleeing for their lives they should be satisfied with any destination where they aren't dead. I wouldn't let one fake refugee step foot over the US border, and if the UN has a problem with it bring it on. None of them of refugees, literally zero, they're all fleeing deportation. Fire shots at their feet and see how quickly they turn around.

  15. People whine more because there they don't have any other problems to solve. When people were going through the great depression or WWII they certainly weren't complaining about microaggressions or anything of the sort, bigger fish to fry. People are getting softer. Also, people live with their parents longer than ever before, have babies at a much older age etc. Adulthood is being delayed, and if you call an adult names they cry about it. We have much smaller families now, which means less siblings to pick on you. Add helicopter parenting, fears of giving babies nuts (causing the nut allergy epidemic) or not letting them play in dirt....All of these things make you less resilient. What doesn't permanently harm you only makes you stronger.

  17. Some of that is caused by expectations and presumptions about vaccines and healthcare systems in general. Those of us who are old enough to remember sickness and death as more commonplace from a variety of infectious diseases and other causes have less fear and panic. Far more people die quietly out of media's view from influenza every year.

  18. Use your head. If they were useless then the governments would not be restricting their export and all the medical people wouldn't be wearing them. The 'established' narrative is that there's little point in ordinary people trying to wear them because ordinary people haven't been properly trained in how to fit them. For example, the complex art of squeezing in the metal nose guard so it folds tightly against your nose is evidently beyond mere mortals. Also people will likely take their dirty hands up and continually touch their masks, transferring germs there. This too apparently takes enormous training to know not to do. So for this reason they don't 'recommend' them for civilians. Which is all to say they don't want people mobbing stores to grab them. They want to restrict them to where they're needed the most, which is by medical workers.

  19. There is no doubt that many countries are missing cases...including Canada. Can't test everybody. Better statistical profiles require more data, which often happens AFTER the event. Lots of papers will be written...same as SARS...MERS...etc.
