You clearly ignored his point. In Canadian law a Prime Minister and elected officials can NOT question the verdict of juries which is what the PM and three cabinet Ministers did. This undermines the judicial independence of the jury and undermines the entire judicial legal system. Justin Trudeau, his Justice Minister and his two cabinet members did not have the information the jury had. They do not know what evidence they had and considered. His Justice Minister should be disbarred. It is a gross violation of legal ethics of any lawyer to openly question a jury's decision. You don't get it why? Why would anyone want to engage in jury duty if they know they will be ridiculed and questioned by politicians and/or the press? How are they supposed to feel safe and be able to discuss things without fear of retaliation? Maybe in your world you want lynch mobs that define guilt by public outcry but I do not. Correct me if I'm wrong but, McMechan did commit a number of crimes. He was convicted of exporting wheat without a permit and then in default for not paying the fine, was tossed in the slammer. It was the court, not Ralph Goodale, that convicted him and he went to jail of his own volition. He could have paid the fine and more importantly, obeyed the law. It was McMechan who had himself jailed, not Goodale. If he didn't like the wheat board, he should have chosen another crop or another occupation.

CTV has a huge responsibility to check out the credibility of a story before they make something public. Once published, the damage is done whether the guy is guilty or not. No it hasn't. In the above News and At Issue, they presented Trudeau's Parliamentary response to a "recognition and implementation of Aboriginal rights" concerning this. My contrast about the vigil of Boushie versus the recent Florida shootings demonstrates the problem. The Boushie vigils appealed to some emotional disgust of injustice against Aboriginals uniquely and presents proof of our bias here. The Florida vigil is UNIVERSALLY an emotional disgust because it appeals to everyone's concern, not some race. While the protest has cooled off, the logical argument is still not being addressed when Trudeau APPEALS to the emotional factors by asserting new changes FOR the Aboriginals uniquely. This makes this political issue here 'culturally biased', not a political appeal to 'rational' differences that is at issue. In fact, if anything, Trudeau and all other politicians should be addressing the ERROR of the Aboriginals to think this case is about racial bias at all. But he and other Canadian politicians WANT laws that are race-based (as with sex-based and religious-based, etc. too). This is my disappointment.

I'm comparing HOW the vigil of the Florida shooting is by contrast to the Boushie family vigil. What I am trying to convey about our Canadian means to perceiving issues that I disapprove of in contrast to the United States [not universally true] is to how WE TREAT issues as PRIMARILY CULTURALLY based whereas the Americans TREAT issues as PRIMARILY LOGICALLY based. I agree to the vigil of the Florida children because it doesn't treat the class "children" as victims that is culturally defined. Even though Trump speaks with ignorance of the guns for political difference, the issue of guns involved is also a logical difference, not a cultural one. In contrast, Boushie's death was considered worthy of vigil primarily because it was interpreted that the significant crime that caused his death is classified as "Aboriginal" victims, NOT universally applicable to all people. This doesn't mean the Americans don't do this either. But the LAW, when we expect them to be attentive based on their constitution, has to be IMPARTIAL to one's race, sex, or religion. [and why I hold contempt for the American judge's sentencing of that gymnastic teacher] We need to redress our constitution in my opinion to remove any cultural, religious, or traditional concepts. We need a form of the American's First Amendment (with better clarity!) to remove government's power to make culture our primary classification when perceiving logical issues.

Good question. Some people believe that because the jury was white it could not be impartial in regards to considering the behavior of a white man. That of course is a racist assumption. It is true in our legal system it is difficult to get indigenous people to join juries or find any even available to consider as potential jurors. That has to do with geographic location and other issues related to mental health, literacy, and other issues that disqualify any jurist, not necessarily racist hatred of aboriginals by lawyers selecting juries. Also culturally many indigenous people ask not to sit on juries saying they do not agree with or understand our legal system and don't want to. Here is why Godess though I have a problem with people automatically assuming the legal system is racist against natives. Yes of course there are laws that might be discriminatory. Yes we have violate numerous treaties and agreements with indigenous communities. That's not the same issue. As well there might be government administrative services that have problems and treat native people unfairly of course. There are all kinds of accusation about discriminatory practice in regards to Children's aid when they take children from native parents. However, it is an insult to those in the legal system or any of us to call us all racist without any proof and just rely on inference. We have issues yes but a blanket condemnation, no. In Canada the legal system now incorporates restorative justice programs which I have been active in. In numerous indigenous communities criminal proceedings are re-directed to healing circles and Judges in the North try their hardest to consider aboriginal principles in their legal determinations and to consult aboriginal elders with sentencing. Its an absolute lie to say the Justice system is ignoring the unique aboriginal legal methods of conflict resolution and bringing them into criminal law deliberations. The sad fact is the vast majority of native peoples end up in jail due to alcohol and drug related addiction issues which now are now often being treated with alternative sentencing and restorative justice programs focusing on mental health issues and how the behavior in question hurts the whole community as well as the individual and treats it as a spiritual illness. Its not perfect but to dismiss it in partisan pandering exercises is wrong and it won't help native peoples who have worked hard to establish these initiatives to throw them all out with one leftist dismissal. People want revenge when someone is killed. Its an ancient and primal reaction by humans. People want a Frankenstein to burn and when they don't get one they get upset. CTV's McGregor called the male who was supposed to have driven her to Brown's house, he has denied any involvement, something McGregor did not report. Specifically, most were born in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Chile, or after 1948 within the pre-1967 boundaries of Israel.
