Youth in Canada the country's least happy generation

For the first time today's youth are the least happy generation, believing they don't have much future.  And in general canadians are far less happy than they were.

Add this to our slide in gdp per capita and all the other metrics we've badly lost ground in.  The kids may have a point

The World Happiness Report says Canadians under 30 were the happiest age group in the country as recently as 2011.

Now, they’re the unhappiest.

The 2024 edition of the decades-long study of global happiness, published by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, asked participants to picture their life as a ladder, with the best possible life at 10 and the worst at zero.

While many countries among the 134 covered by the research have also seen happiness levels fall among those under 30 since 2006, the slide of young Canadians down the ladder is exceptional.

Only four countries have seen a worse decline — Jordan, Venezuela, Lebanon and Afghanistan.

Studies have shown that it's an inverse relationship between happiness and ethernet exposure -  most dramatic in young people.

AI will become ever more significant in a kids development and beyond.

There is no cure ........... freedom, eh?

How did Canada’s young people become its unhappiest generation?

They've probably figured out our global civilization's best days are behind us.

I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,
a liberal, oh fanatical criminal

The answer is.....the Liberal Party of Canada.  They went from being the happiest in 2014 to the unhappiest, thanks to Liberals and their dog shit policies that have made everything worse in Canada.

That would be the correct answer

But how did the LPOC also manage to make everything worse around the world? I mean, it's taken a real effort to steer it towards the brink it's nearing.

Are you one of these people who figure it's just a handful of psyop guys orchestrating it all?

They seem awfully competent...at making everything worse that is.

It not worse everywhere else in the world.  It's not even as worse in other G7 countries.  Although other G7 countries have largely implement similar policies as our Liberal government as.  Mass migration, massive deficit spending, carbon taxes, etc.  It's just the Liberals in Canada have done a particular good job of making things worse here.  It's been quite an achievement.

Well no, there're certainly a couple of handfuls of countries that score higher on certain indices but all in all anyone who can look around the planet and conclude its on the cusp of the next new Golden Age is frankly living in la la land.

Now notwithstanding we reach the Technological Singularity or the rescue mission from Sirius shows up at the last second - we're clearly circling the drain as much as orbiting the sun.

I suppose, we do have farther to fall don't forget. And we haven't seen anything yet - and it's all downhill from here. Probably easier going down than going up I bet.

It didn't. In fact things around the world are pretty decent, but people who support the LPOC Like to lie and pretend differently to cover up the complete horrible failings of the people they voted for

You wouldn't know anyone like that would you? :P

Mainly by believing things should stay the same which they don't, by expecting and not being grateful for what they do have and by denying opportunities they do have as 'too difficult' to achieve.

The attitude that someone else has to give you a job is prevalent, as is the lack of ability to communicate (sell themselves) on top of a lack of ambition in so many.
When I know a woman who came from the Phillpines 15 years ago, raised a daughter as a single Mom as she plugged away at menial work and managed to turn her sewing hobby into dresses shown on fashion runways and costumes for Hollywood North and TFWs who in 6 years of making sub sandwiches are now citizens with public service jobs, and local kids who quit jobs expecting $30 start wages with no trining and no seniority I shake mt head.
Like with the kid who cut my small lawn and I gave him $40 to ensure he'd come back didn't. Didn't think it was worth it for 20 minutes of work. Another got a plow for his ols truck and surprise! no one will pay him $75 to plow a 50 ft residential driveway.

Uh no, they’re unhappy because they’ve been lied to their entire lives pretending to be Canadians when they’re really American kids.

They're unhappy because they think trump might actually take us over and they'd have to be American :)

Little do they know that we can foil trumps plan at any time simply by turning them up he's holding upside down, he'll accidentally invade Mexico instead.

He may be a bit of a super villain, but he's not the brightest super villain

I made big bucks shoveling snow and raking leaves as side gig to my paper route when I was a kid.

Actually I think I made more off leaves and snow than paper.

Canadians in past generations were proud of themselves, proud of their country and its accomplishments. They knew their place in the world and were confident. They had a god, a decent job, close friends, a big extended family, and would soon get engaged. Amazing new things were coming along every year.

Canadian kids now often have no siblings, and perhaps one or two cousins, or none. They arrive at a school system where they are a minority, sometimes even a small minority. They are taught that their country is stolen, genocidal, and racist, and that they should be ashamed of their white privilege. Boys are constantly told to act like girls, and even that they can BE girls if they want to. And if they choose to be girls, everyone will admire them! As they grow up, the message is pounded in from school, from media, arts, academics: white people are bad. Men are particularly bad. Strength and aggression, and competition are bad. They must act more like women do. They must be sensitive and caring and learn to share their feelings. They must always be aware that they are oppressors and bow their heads to the victims.

When they try to enter college, they learn that they have to have higher scores than others to get in. And when they graduate, they learn, especially the men, that every company, every organization, public and private, wants to hire literally anyone else but them. Every other racial, ethnic, religious, gender, and orientation group will be hired ahead of them, and promoted ahead of them.

There is no more religion. Only white supremacists are patriotic.

And oh, by the way, there are few permanent jobs anymore. It's a gig economy. They can barely afford to rent a cheap apartment, let alone buy a house. Wages are low as floods of foreigners come in to take them at cheaper wages. There's nothing to believe in, no sense of purpose, no guide to where they should be going. Live for the day. Video games and cheap sex without commitments. 27% of millennials have no close friends. 22% have no friends at all. Half have no more than two or three close friends. Loneliness is common.

So what's there to be happy about?

By the constant bombardment of doom and gloom from the far right wing extremist folks.

Nothting good, everything is bad and it is all someone elses fault. There is no positive future and if there is a future, it is worse than it has ever been.

Also, this generation has never had to work for anything. They get everything they want and the parents give them what they want. There is no failure...even if they suck, they still get a participation medal...a reward for not being good at anything.

So really, things are pretty good and if they are unhappy it is because their parents didn't give them what they wanted just getting what they needed.

My opinion.

Seems to be a huge part of it Don't DO anything or offer solutions just whine louder and louder it's someone elses fault.
Take it to the hypocritical extreme you support the party that wants govt out of your life all the while complaining the govt isn't doing enough for you.

What, becoming part of the US? I guess if you think that living in a dung heap that had recently been set on fire was a positive thing then you MIGHT consider it a compliment.....   :)

Well that settles it then. Canadians therefore are, brown noser. How else to describe a group of people who are preoccupied with this supposed dung heap; more so than its own inhabitants.

See that’s the problem with Canadianism/anti-americanism, it’s indefensible.

I don’t know why you all insist building your cultural identity on quick sands

Well if Liberal policies would as good as you tout them to be , Conservatives would have nothing to bi!ch about , instead the past 10 years under liberal rule has brought us to this point of time....

If conservatives are pushing these agendas, then why are we not in power...sorry my friend but it is not conservatives that started all of these trends...My kids worked hard to achieve what they have achieved, and as far as the medal for just showing up, that's a liberal ideal...pass on by the Canadian Karen's of the country...and what about my kids...

Tough times produce hard people, soft times produce soft people, and the liberals/ Left have taken these soft times to another dimension...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
