Not in Canada.

The state does have the right if it so chooses to pass a law to bring in capital punishment.

Since 1973, at least 200 people who were wrongly convicted and sentenced to death in the U.S. have been exonerated.

You are quoting U.S. statistics which is not similar to Canada's at all.    I did a search but am unable to locate the actual statistics in Canada to show the number of wrongful convictions for murder charges.  But one website lists ten prominent wrongful convictions since 1969.  That is over a period of 56 years.

How many people do you think have been murdered in Canada in the past 56 years?  Probably in the thousands.  So if the justice system is modified to reduce the number of mistakes, it may be possible to save a lot of lives with capital punishment as a deterrent.  Otherwise we are approaching a thousand people a year being murdered with no capital punishment.  Where is your concern for these people?

These are the number of homicide victims in Canada from 2014 to 2023:

525 612 619 669 664 691 765 801 882 778

If the legal system was set up to be very precise in the trial of those accused of murder, there is no reason why it should not be accurate.

Do you think it is reasonable to allow killers to kill seven or eight hundred people a year with no capital punishment.   Capital punishment may reduce that figure considerably.

I view religion, especially yours, as a psychotic delusion that is a threat to our society's well being and I don't want it influencing or guiding our government or any of its institutions in any way shape or form whatsoever. We might as well be adding LSD to the public's water systems.

That is a really ignorant comment.  Our whole system of parliamentary democracy and laws respecting human rights evolved over time because our society is built on Judeo-Christian principles.  You have not studied anything on how our western society came to be and have your head in the sand.  So you believe Socialist-liberal ideology instead and progressivism which has being destroying our society in many ways.  We now have school kids being taught in schools it is alright to change their gender and become a trans kid.  Also, it is kept secret from the parents.

Every person in society has their own beliefs, which they have a right to and every politician has their personal beliefs which determine how they vote in some cases.

Liberalism is destroying our Judeo-Christian civilization with its belief in things like multiculturalism, same sex marriage, MAID, abortion, etc. etc.   The family structure is being attacked and weakened in every way possible because liberals do not believe in it.  Do we need to point these evil things out?  You should be able to put 2 and 2 together and see it yourself.  Belief in the Bible and our historic Judeo-Christian principles of justice instead of the liberal belief of soft-on-crime is the only thing that is preventing complete chaos in society.  We are in a deep mess now with criminals getting off or very light sentences.  Illicit drug deaths are out of control and there is rampant crime on the streets of many cities.  Nobody is safe.

Likely handed down by Neanderthals. You seem to be utterly oblivious to the fact humans have always known how to act humanely towards one another.

People who think like you are leading our planet to 90% destruction and depopulation. It's too late to reduce pollution. Jesus told us how to survive, and you're quoting verses from the Old Testament that the devil dictated to Moses to exterminate us. The first thing we must do to survive is get rid of money; you cannot serve two masters—God and money. Jn 3,19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

No, humans have not acted humanely towards one another.   Take a look at the rest of the world like Russia, China, and the middle east where there was no Judeo-Christian civilization.  The slaughtered each other endlessly.  They still don't respect human rights in many places, while the west has democracy and human rights.  There is nothing arrogant about respecting your fellow man as Biblical Christians try to do.  The west has been far better off that way.  Try living in China, North Korea or Iran and see how you like it.

So it saems. You just have to claim drug smugglers are terrorists and murder them with out any proof of them being either.
It used to be they had to be actual known terrorists to murder them, but standards decrease by the day.

Christians are motivated because they are sons of God and believe it is their duty.   Nothing arrogant about that.

What motivates you to act the way you do?

You seem to think that the US air force is flying around waiting to bomb anything that looks like a boat....without any evidence of any criminal activity...To maintain the level of drugs n US/Canada streets these boats would have to run 24/7 ...the fact there has only been three boats attack might suggest they (the air force) are being selective.....

If they are smuggling drugs then they are terrorist targets, No murder, but rather justice served....the last boat to be sunk was a Cartel made sub....i know it could have been anyone smuggling in coconuts....or beauty products in a SUB.

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

I don't. But I do know the US Navy is murdering people on the high seas with the official sanction of the White House which is against the laws of every nation on Earth. They can board and arrest smugglers in US waters/ but not kill them there either.
Would it be okay if I ran blew up boats off the coast of Kenya because they claimed they were bringing illegal Bibles to Iran? Or if Israel simply blew up and killed Greta Thunberg and her convoy off the coast of Greece?
Is it that you simply want to kill people you don't like?

I thought you opposed mixing religion with politics;  yet that is exactly what Carney is doing with his two-state solution for Israel.  You are ok with that no doubt, but oppose any Bible believer from having any say in politics.

Carney who is a devout Catholic is persecuting Israel.   The Catholic Church has been persecuting Jews all through history in Europe.   That culminated in the Holocaust and death of six million Jews in Europe at the hands of Hitler and the Nazis who the Vatican signed a Concordat with.

The Catholic Church doesn't believe Israel has a right to exist and Carney, being a devout Catholic, follows whatever Rome says on Israel and proclaims he recognizes two states.  Carney thinks he is following God but that's not what God says in the Bible.  There is no dividing Israel into two states even hinted at in the Bible.  It is purely an invention of the Catholic Church to claim more authority and recognition for themselves as they have done for 1,500 years.  The Pope would move his headquarters to Jerusalem if he had the chance.   Don't believe it?  Do some investigation and find out.

That doesn't prove anything.  There could be other reasons why the murder rates are higher in some states than others.   You know well that the murder rates are higher in some cities than others.

Capital punishment could act as a deterrent in some cases.  That is just common sense.

Secondly, if a murderer receives capital punishment, one thing is sure....he is not going to do it again.

That is very important because dangerous offenders have been let out early on parole and murdered other people.

If the Old Testament says, "This is a house," and Jesus says, "This is a house," that doesn't mean he quoted the Old Testament.

Ya, but your logic only makes sense if you also assert that because Black Mambas drink water and men drink water that Black Mambas must be men as a result of it.
