August1991 Posted October 9, 2025 Report Posted October 9, 2025 1. In Canada, we have many restrictions on trade: milk, cheese, banks, airlines. Oil pipelines. This foreign guy is doing our fight. 2. In Canada, we have no politician who is able to confront our internal lobbies - and yet win enough votes/seats to win. 3. You Americans have a wonderful constitution that protects you against a dictator: -In Canada, we only have a Charter of Rights. Quote

Nefarious Banana Posted October 15, 2025 Report Posted October 15, 2025 45% tariff on Canuck lumber. Yanks buying lumber from Russia. Yanks need some Canuck loggers to flatten the Redwood/Sequoia forests for you. Bristlecone pines too. Putin/Trump bum bosum buddies? Lucky Yanks ! 1 Quote
SpankyMcFarland Posted October 15, 2025 Report Posted October 15, 2025 A tariff on Canadian lumber is a tax on young American homebuyers. Trump wants to tax these people so he can give tax breaks to others who certainly don’t need them. MAGA voters are in for some hard lessons. 1 Quote ‘How small we make our worlds. paxamericana Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 I don’t know why but how come only softwood like pine is used in home construction, in other places around the world and even in the old British colonial era , wood beam were often made from hard wood. Quote

Because softwoods (pine, fir, spruce, etc) are more abundant and cost less than hardwoods which are typically used in finishing. We're in the 21st century, not the British colonial era. Quote

Mentioned a few times to you that your trolling has got to the point that you're running out of material... for future reference, Oak is a hardwood and sequoia's are not abundant and doesn't make good lumber. The US needs Canadian softwood lumber, which is why 80% of the material imports come from here. Edited October 17, 2025 by LinkSoul60 Quote
herbie Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 20 tears ago it was reported that lumber duties added $6000 to the cost of building a home in the USA. Today, lumber prices are higher AND the tarrif & duties are more than double. At the time my best friend was the plant manager at a mill and my gf was the CFO. Both left that industry for other careers. The 1930's idea of tariffs and isolationism Dimwit Donald is pursuing will end in a total disaster if he doesn't come to his senses. Quote
