Go look at a f*cking car lot these days. The hottest sellers are hybrids, we're already well into electrification. PHEVs are also gaining. BEVs have 300km+ ranges, chargers are everywhere and at home. Gas only cars are right up there in price and the Id1ot President has ditched mileage standards, so one jump in oil prices and allowing US makers to stagnate even more he's f*cked the whole auto sector.
Hopefully Carney is not nearly as simple minded.

2026 Mercedes GLC BEV has over 700km range. My old Saturn couldn't go that far on a tank of gas.
But if you want GM to stop EVs like they did in 1991 and fall behind, don't waste subsidies on car plants here. The Koreans, Japanese, Chinese and Europeans will make what the Japanese did to the Big 3 in the70's and 80's look like a paper cut.

No that's not true. Prices were down and they were selling okay. But it's been noted for several years now that the demand has been falling off and it's still nowhere close to what the demand for ice Vehicles is

And I haven't heard you address the point I raised about places banning them for fire risk reasons, you ignore that because you have absolutely no way of addressing it and that's going to become a bigger and bigger problem as long as they're using lithium ion batteries

You got your head up your butif you think that EV's are the vehicle of choice for even 50 percent of people, never mind 100 percent.  Plug in hybrids MAYBE, and that 's what we should have been pushing instead of EV's or at least as hard as EV's/ We'd have solved 90 percent of the emissions issues and we could legit adapt to that tomorrow.

By "plenty" you mean about 10 percent of the population.  Right now EV's are only about 7 percent of registered vehicles, despite rebates. 

That is not enough to drive adaptation. The day may come when the tech allows for that but that day is not today.

The price argument HASN'T been an issue, we've been giving subsidies. 

And a lot of people will be wary about a chinese car period, it took hyundai a long time to be established and they're korean.  Given the choice a lot of people will spend money on an ice made in canada vs ANYTHING made in china.  Look at the fuss over the ferries. 

And it's not just the price. Finding charging locations is a problem, charging times are a problem even if there were chargers everywhere, stratas are looking at banning them at their properties because of the risk if they catch fire, the cost of replacing the batteries when the time comes is huge, there are a lot of environments where they don't work well such as severe cold, they are brutally inefficient for long trips which some people take more than others.

With hard work you might get up to 20% of the population wanting as they are today. That is not enough to drive change

Honestly the correct answer would have been to push plugins. Hybrid vehicle removes a lot of the problems including cost, recharging, range, and a host of other problems. And we would have gotten like 95% of the emission savings.

But the fact is the government doesn't care about actual solutions, it cares about virtue signaling and Evs just aren't up to snuff

WTF? In case you have not heard the word yet? Carnage the destroyer of all things decent and moral is telling me that by 2035 i will not be allowed to buy an ICE vehicle any longer in Canada. That is called forcing me to have to buy an EV, stunned. 

Just so everyone knows here, a gallon of gas in Canada today is costing anyone who drives an ICE vehicle approx. $8 a gallon. In America, it is approx. $3.00 a gallon and going down. The cost of gas today here in BC is approx. $1.71 a liter. But you are to much of a leftist to know that. 

Implementing the metric system allowed the oil and gas companies and the governments to make more in taxes on the selling of gas. The metric system was a big ripoff for Canadians. But you are to dumb to know that.  Go away. 🤮
