If you’re talking internationally, not in remotely the same way. Trump is actively destroying the bonds that tie the West together.

No I meant internally. I'm sure Joe did more to do that in Canada than trump has, if anything trump has tried to pull us together.

I think that Canada will eventually break up. I think they will come a point when the west is big enough and strong enough to decide that it's time to stand on its own and they will be fed up with the east telling them how to live.

But more importantly I think trudeau turned one Canadian against the other. The sense of belonging to a larger Canada largely evaporated under his term. It flared to life for like 5 seconds when trump threatened us and now it's gone again.

Anyone who's voted liberal in the last 10 years unfortunately voted for the separation of Canada given time and that's not trump's fault

Well sounds like you've given up and go sit in your corner and wait quietly for the rest of us to try and deal with it. Which near as I can tell is basically what the military has been doing for the last 30 years anyway so you should have experience.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion, if i had given up i would not be posting my concerns here at all, or having this discussion with you......And from this side of the fence, the vast majority of Canadians have sat down in their corners to busy to be distract by any issue of our security apparatus...when it is they, that have let it slide into being a sh1t show...but your response is almost typical of any Canadian response, refuse to take any responsibility, and instead deflect and point fingers at someone else...pointing at the very heart of the issue the military it self...

Canadian public have been sitting down with their hands over their mouths for decades...when soldiers were visiting food banks, when soldiers were homeless, when members were operating equipment their grandfathers operated, when Members were dying in combat because our equipment was shit, THEY were silent...instead what they did do was got behind our culture was toxic, DEI took hold of promotions and appointments, LGBTQ issues aslo were forced on them , to the point we put tampons into men's washrooms...pink hair, scruffy beards, men dressing like women, women dressing up as men, pronouns were now part of life...cancellations or false accusations were rampant this is what the Canadian public demanded and what we have today....they have turned a once proud warrior culture into a bag of hammers....

Just once in my life time i would like to see government / Canadians take some pride in something involved in our security apparatus...I've spent my entire career 35 years going to the world's sh#t holes enforcing our foreign policy....going to funerals of the bravest Canadian i know, most of their deaths directly tied to sh1tty equipment...writing my MP's and begging for new modern equipment, talking to any government official who came over for a photo op and telling them the same thing....being told by our government i could not talk to the public while in uniform...i spent my entire second tour Afghanistan on this very forum  telling Canadians as much as i could as to what was going on...after being told it could end my career...So much for sitting down in a chair and doing nothing...before i finish i'd like to know what you have down, it must have dwarfed my contributions as you seem to look down on them with some sort of disdain......

I'm not posting here to argue with you, nor belittle you in some way...i'm posting here because i've seen the results of our military struggling for funding, for decades upon decades...and the results for the most part is flagged draped caskets filled with kids that bought into the myth that Canada will have our backs...when we needed them....

For decades i prayed , wished, hoped Canadian would one day stand up and say enough is enough....and while today most Canadians agree that our military needs some infusion of cash....the problem is much deeper than that, almost all of our equipment needs to be replaced, our infrastructure is crumbling at our feet, and Canadians can't for the life of them figure out why military people are leaving in droves... And here you are right now somehow inferring that this is my fault...and it is the military that has failed you....i don't think so...we have been here all the time,

Canadians need to grow a set and either shut down our military, and give our sovereignty to someone else , or STFU and do what is needed to defend ourselves...

Canada is worth saving, but we're 100% incapable of doing it now that the LPOC owns our media. Someone has to do that for us, but sadly, the US isn't that far from where we are. Kamala Harris almost became POTUS. That's basically an end-of-the-line moment for the US.

I know a lot of vets that would disagree...They've been let down to many times....don't get me wrong if any of my old comrades phoned my up and said they were going off to war again, i'd be there in a heartbeat, not for king or country but for them...If we could survive 10 years of Justin , they could survive kamala...the question should be would kamala survive the American people without getting shot....

Leading the way in virtue signaling Maybe, but they're also leading the way in pollution. Until this year they were increasing their carbon output at a rate of Canada's total output every 15 months to 18 months. Basically more than one Canada every year and a half.

Read the comments on this board, AG.

The left4rds here are fully aware that the LPOC gives the CBC and "select media outlets" hundreds of millions of dollars right before every election, and yet they just quote CBC like it's somehow gospel truth.

These people would let Clifford Olson babysit their children if the CBC said he was a nice guy.

  1. Our government bought the MSM
  2. they are constantly trying to censor social media and branding everything on the internet as disinformation and heresy
  3. the owners of polling companies admit that they hate the conservatives
  4. Canadians think that we can have fair elections despite all of the above

And don't forget that the CBC joined a partnership with NYT, WashPo, Google, FB, Twitter (before Musk bought it, well into the covid saga), AP, Reuters, YouTube, the European Broadcasting Union, AP, Reuters and others to CONTROL what we are exposed to on the news and social media. They literally joined up to "fight disinformation", and in so doing blocked info from the Hunter laptop, prevented the discussion of the Wuhan BSL4 lab, among other things. People were banned from the internet for talking about the Wuhan lab, and that was by the CBC's partners.

Do you think this site was spared, as some oasis of freedom of speech?

Nope. Where's the search bar here, AG? How can you dig up an old thread here about what Trudeau did during covid? You can't. That "disinformation" is basically gone now. All that's left is what google directs you to, and google's JOB is to prevent you from "access to disinformation". All you get to see is what google and the CBC want you to see.

If Orban openly paid the Hungarian state broadcasting company hundreds of millions of dollars before an election, and gave "select media outlets" hundreds of millions of dollars as well, and their state broadcasting company joined a coalition with Rebel News, Fox News, X, the National Post, etc to "prevent the flow of disinformation into Hungary", CBC and CNN would scream bloody murder, and our left4rd horde would do the same. They'd say that democracy in Hungary was over, and how could you argue against it?

WE DON'T HAVE A F'ING DEMOCRACY HERE. IT'S LONG GONE. THE LEFT4RDS HERE WHO TALK ABOUT OUR ELECTIONS AS IF THE VOTE HERE IS SACROSANCT ARE ALL WORTHLESS LYING PIECES OF SH1T.

I disagree that we don't have a democracy. We do have a democracy, and we need to learn to use that better to our advantage.

But there is no doubt that you are correct that one group of people has their thumb on the scale in a huge way. Democracy is slanted in favor of one group and while that control is not absolute it is powerful and excuse the results in favor of that group.

In other words if under normal circumstances the liberals would win 50% of the time and the conservatives would win 50% of the time, with the way things are the liberals will win 75% and the conservatives 25%

And yes that is terrible. And yes we need to fix that. But it's not like democracy is entirely gone and we can fight back

So, if I'm interpreting your post correctly:

  1. we have a democracy, but
  2. one group has their thumb on the scale in a huge way...

How is that different from "one-party rule"?

It's the difference between air superiority and air supremacy :)

One party rule generally means that one party is the only party that can win. China, Russia, perfect examples

What we have is something where one party will win more often than it should but not all the time. More of a skewed democracy or waited democracy or unbalanced democracy, call it when you will. One side has a distinct advantage but not dominance

Yet anyway.

I know they lead the way in those technologies and I suspect you do too. Of course they still use a lot of coal because China is still a rapidly developing country with 1.4 billion people. You have to look at the direction they are taking to assess where they will soon be.

America under Trump seems to be offering a retrofuturist fossil fuel alternative to China’s renewable tsunami. It’s a form of denial as pathetic as it is worrying.

China has no renewable tsunami.

They have a tiny wave on their ocean of coal...

The real shame is that we use China's failure to curb it's fossil fuel use as an excuse to step on the gas to keep up.

No we didn't. We brought in the number one climate saving program in the entire known world, the carbon tax. Had it for 10 years. Climate change must be solved by now, you guys promised!

Someone made you a promise?

You never got over being told Santa and the Tooth Fairy were just made up did you? It scarred you for life - the world has been lying and out to get you ever since.

Absolutely. The entire left in Canada was extremely vocal about it, the tax was the best way to fight climate change, the tax would solve the problems, all we had to do is pay the tax and increasingly large amounts and things would be fine we would achieve our climate's goals.

We haven't even come close to our goals

While I agree that climate change is a fairy tale much in keeping with santa and the tooth fairy, I never did believe the lie. Climate change may be real but it's not a crisis and all of these efforts to solve it are pointless.

As usual you and people like you created a false narrative that they can't even produce a single bit of science to support despite being asked a hundred times to use as a pretext to virtual signal and control people while pocketing their money.

And the people that are suffering the most are the poorest. We have the most homeless in Canada now that we have ever had by far, we have the most food insecurity, the most poverty the most number of people just struggling to get by, ever increasing unemployment, and the debt so high that the next two generations of Canadians will have a lower standard of living as a result.

So I'm unhappy about the fact that people like you lied and innocent people have to suffer as a result. The real question is why aren't you?

Kid you are so discredited even the liberals and the NDP abandoned the idea of a carbon tax because it was so useless and such a lie and people had already gotten onto it :)

Cite? No one promised you any such thing, ever.

You might as well believe in tooth fairies if you believe that.

You need to drastically scale back your hyperbole it makes you sound ridiculous.

Of course they did. Then they all kinds of claims on top of that, how was the best tool available and how it was absolutely critical for fighting climate change.

Why, what did you think it was supposed to do? Go ahead and tell me exactly what effect you believed it would have. You've been a strong proponent of it for quite some time, so you must have believed it would achieve something right? What was it you thought that was going to achieve?

You mean you and the liberals were lying? Well the good news is that I never did believe in tooth fairies and now neither does aggressive Canada. Even your own liberals are giving up Pretending it was anything other than attacks
