Ok, I can't disagree with you on that. It was just the mentioning of the CF-18's carrying nuclear weapons in Europe that caught my eye. I just don't see any obligation or commitment on Canada's part to do any such thing. Not that I'd be totally against it if the circumstances were right.

once the Canadian CF-18's have been activated to NATO in Europe by the Government of Canada

they would be delivering the B-61 under NATO command therein,

you choose what assets you want to commit to NATO,

after which you have surrendered them to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe at Mons Belgium then,

then I came around to liking him after all,

FYI if I was the British PM, and the US said "We're gonna nuke Canada", I'd just say "Have at 'er." In fact, I'd personally rather have Canada nuked than see a nuclear war between England and the US. We're 40M people, they're 340+60. It's just terrible math. 

If the US decides to take over Canada, no one on earth is in any position to stop them. Not Russia, not China, not all of Europe combined... It's just over. 

If we want someone to intervene, it's other people within the US. We need to appeal to the good graces of the 95% of Americans who would rather not do that. 

We should all be saying "I love 99.9999% of Americans" - most people will know what you're talking about - not "Let's find someone willing to nuke the US 😂

Well if the US leaves NATO and attacks us, we can invoke Article 5 against the US. Considering what Trump has been threatening we might be better off if the US wasn't in NATO.

Article V does not bind any NATO member to go to war,

Article V rather states that members only need contribute what they "deem necessary"

NATO Article V stipulates an "armed attack"

Canada could not invoke NATO Article V in the face of economic leverage.

I don't think so, since again, NATO doesn't bind America to do anything specific,

the treaty was written that way deliberately to appease the Americans in the first place,

the public doesn't really understand the 1949 Washington Treaty nor how it works,

it doesn't say what most obviously think it says,

any NATO member can invoke Article V ; so what ?

Article V doesn't require anybody to go to war for that member,

it just says that all members must "assist" in whatever way they "deem necessary"

so America could simply send a strongly worded letter of protest ; presto,  Article V upheld
