That's really not how it works. There's an entire production process. It would be difficult to even have enough place to store the oil if we shut it down. Shutting down one pipeline temporarily to deal with repairs and stuff is already fairly catastrophic but they usually can re-root stuff through other means but if you deliberately shut down everything you can't just freeze all the assets in place.

It would be better to tear if the heck out of the energy as an exit tariff and force the Americans to pay top dollar for it

Tonight Trudeau said the premiers didn’t agree with bumping up oil (perhaps just for now) because one of the guiding principles of their federal-provincial working group is to not single out or disproportionately affect one province or one industry.  Alberta has always been the disloyal province ever since it was captured by Big Oil and we all know the that province will have a field day if their victim narrative is fed.  For now the feds want to stay united.

I wonder if it would have been more strategic if Canada had announced all the tariffs for take effect in 3 weeks instead of the small amount starting this coming week . 

Reason being now when Americans feel economic pain Dictator On Day One will blame Canada and falsely claim his tariffs alone don’t hurt Americans If we had postponed our retaliation for a few weeks would have let the Americans burn under DODO’s tariffs alone and then let them know it’s about to get a lot worse.

I live down the street from a homeless shelter which also claims to do "harm reduction" aka drug den..There's always method out people picking bugs out of the air, yelling at nobody, defecating in public spaces, busting into people's garages, and spreading their drug paraphernalia at the school yard. A couple months ago some strung out half clothed woman busted into one of my neighbour's homes and passed out on their couch. What was once a decent neighborhood has been overrun with drug dealers and ambulances waking you up at 3am. 

What's the response from the wokeys running the city or leftists like Trudeau living in their gated communities if you raise concerns? Call you names..  racist, NIMBY, blah blah blah.

Glad to see the tides turn on some of this bullshit

Well that's not what you said, you had some pretty tough words for alberta right after pointing out that trudeau said we have to be fair. 

Frankly i think we should be putting a price on energy too but i totally get alberta being resistant and angry about it as a day one concept. After all, it was provinces like ontario and quebec as well as the federal government who forced them into a position where they only have one customer to deal with. Trudeau has no problem rotting out neighborhoods that many people in my area have lived in for many years in the name of DEI and tolerance. 

I don't want a trade war but I also don't want woke POS politicians attacking their citizens who express concerns about the safety of their communities.

Those industries have other customers. They sell agriculture products all over the world, cows and grain are pretty easy to ship, there really is no manufacturing except in support of oil and the rest is service industry stuff which isn't affected. 

So those industries can adapt no problem. They'll take a hit but nothing fatal.
