The Trump Administration has done nothing but cast blame on California leaders, in relation to the forest fires that are decimating LA. It can be argued that Canada and Mexico have done more to assist LA than the feds. In the aftermath, the state is probably going to take a hard look at whether it wants to continue to be apart of the United States, especially when it gives billions of dollars to have-not states, mainly in the deep south like Alabama.

If the Trump Administration order ICE to deploy the military to raid Hispanic neighbourhoods, in hopes of arresting millions of Latinos suspected of being undocumented workers, it will lead to Civil War. As a Canadian, I will personally do whatever I can to help the West Coast, and New England (they are surely going to resist Trump).

The USA waited too long, and was too cowardly to stop Trump, The only way to halt the backslide of their democratic institutions into fascism, will be to spill blood through war. It's heartbreaking that it came to this, but it is what it is.

It's pretty sad though. I only ever heard the matter of a sub-region complaining about carrying the nation from Albertans some of whom were indeed separatist-minded.

It's kind of like a couple, when they start talking like this about money.

I blame Canadians in general. Albertans for always b*tching about sending more than they get and the rest of Canada not being able to admit that the country would be worse off financially without them.

Albertans have plenty to complain about.

California won't separate because that state represents a massive chunk of the Democrat base. Take California out of the mix and Republicans have an open field.

And for the record, at this time it is still the Biden/Harris administration in charge. You're blaming the president elect and not the actual sitting president.

Trump does not have an administration.

It's still the Biden administration.

Please get your facts right instead of cluttering up this board.

If an election were held today, I bet the NDP would regain power. Smith is incompetent, and she has been exposed.

The way California and its leaders have been treated during the forest fires, I am pretty sure it will be a catalyst for talks of California (or possibly the West Coast), breaking off from the Union, and forming their own country.

You are a prime example of what I'm talking about. Both the RoC and Alberta would be screwed if they separated. BC would be cut off from the RoC, the RoC would be cut off from the Pacific and Alberta might as well join the US.

Vancouver Island helps make it feel a little farther away.

A Western North American country running from Alaska to California makes a lot of geographical and bioregional sense.

I can see the development of something like this following the interregnum between the new geopolitical order that rises from the rubble of the one presently crumbling around us.

Cascadia will likely be amongst the first regions to recover actually.

BC would represent a population of 5 million in a country with 45 million former Americans. Be careful what you ask for. They aren’t all going to be like us.

That's okay, I figure the interregnum will take at least a couple of generations. A lot will be forgiven and forgotten by then.

The way I see it, many Californians had put the fire disaster blame squarely on the inept, gross negligence of Newsome government.  Newsome had been a lunatic in his decisions.  How can there be no water......when they already know the dangers of wildfires in California?   How can any governor be that stupid?   Thus, it seems like it's been ......deliberate!

The evidence speaks for itself.

How many Californians will want to stay in California?

How many Californians will  want to rebuild California.........under the Democrats?

Fact:

California also suffers from the surge of illegal migrants.

Not all Californians are against Trump.

What real Californians would go into a civil war........for illegal migrants?

The ones who'd instigate a civil war, would be socialists/communists.......who's been aiming to weaken the USA all along.

Good question. Why didn't anyone think about asking it before they built their homes, neighborhoods and communities in the middle of a tinderbox?

You have not followed the news, obviously.

The water reservoir that's meant to help combat fires, was empty!

I don't debate ignorant opinions.  It's a waste of my time.

One was down for maintenance, the other 13 were full. It was too windy to use aircraft during the worst conditions, they only have around 180 firetrucks, over 12000 buildings caught fire in the worst fires and they typically dispatch 3 per housefire (you do the math). Without aircraft firefighters opened too many fire hydrants at once which meant they overwhelmed the capacity to maintain the water pressure necessary to push water through the system. It wouldn't have mattered how many reservoirs they had.

These are alternate opinions aka facts.

On top of that...

The top three metropolitan areas with the most people in “very high” wildfire risk areas are all in California: Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad, and Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim. Together, these metros have about 1.2 million residents in “very high” wildfire risk areas.

They've known about this for decades in addition to how AGW would make it worse.
