Unscrupulous companies could misuse it, legitimate companies need it and it benefits them,  and it can lead to problems either way. 

So, dispute. Such things happen when people are allowed a bit of freedom  It'll get worked out over time.

MAGA is one person, his name is Donald.  Everything he says, MAGA shall comply, even when its an obvious lie about people stealing elections from him because his ego can't handle losing.

MAGA (Donald Trump) is too stupid too consider the complexities of something like the economic impact of work visas or tarrifs.  Don-Don has the attention-span of a 2-year old and certainly won't read anything about those subjects.  He prefers TV, which is why his cabinet is filled with people he saw on cable TV.

Donald Trump on Saturday sided with Elon Musk, a key supporter and billionaire tech CEO, in a public dispute over the use of the H-1B visa, saying he fully backs the program for foreign tech workers opposed by some of his supporters.

Trump’s remarks followed a series of social media posts from Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who vowed late Friday to go to “war” to defend the visa program for foreign tech workers.

 

Trump, who moved to limit the visa’s use during his first presidency, told the New York Post on Saturday he was likewise in favor of the visa program.

“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” he was quoted as saying.

Musk, a naturalized US citizen born in South Africa, has held an H-1B visa, and his electric-car company Tesla obtained 724 of the visas this year. H-1B visas are typically for three-year periods, though holders can extend them or apply for green cards.

So, my take on this from what I understand personally and have heard from others. Indian tech workers? They suck. Yes, I'm generalizing, so sue me. The quality of education in Indian tech schools lags far behind western universities. It's all rote learning with no imagination. Indians who come to Canada and the US to work at tech firms will indeed work their asses off. Because they have to just to keep up with Americans/Canadians.

That doesn't mean a small number aren't incredibly talented, of course. But overall, their coding is mediocre and full of bugs. They need explicit, exact instructions on what is wanted, and close supervision, because if they run up against anything where a decision needs to be made, where an alternative path is required, they freeze. They haven't been trained to have nimble minds.

They will also cheat like hell, scavaging information from others or sabotaging their work, or sending their problems back to India for someone there to work on for pennies. They suck up to the boss but will stab colleagues in the back at the first opportunity. It's all a scramble, to get ahead, to get more money, and there are no morals or ethics involved. They'll do whatever they think will work.

This is why guys like Musk and Ramaswamy like them. They're way cheaper, work like dogs, and act like they're super eager to please whenever the boss wanders by. Weekends? Holidays? They'll work and get no overtime and be happy about it (or fake it). 

Is this good for the company? Perhaps. Is it good for the country? Nope. Who wants to live in a society like that?

Overall it made sense when companies here started outsourcing computer programming work to people overseas, in places like India. In order to pay someone a working wage in Vancouver they need to give them $5k/mo, and you can get a dozen foreign programmers with that much money, maybe more, and then it costs zero cents to send that data from India to Canada over the internet. 

I just don't see value in bringing those people over here. They're not doing anything that can't be done remotely, and they're not elite at what they're doing.
