I don't know why McKinley chose Roosevelt. I can guess why Eisenhower chose Nixon. Kennedy is the outlier.

I have only read excerpts of Hillbilly Elegy (I saw the movie). Since I am travelling now (forced to wait/sit), I downloaded the audiobook version (free on the Internet; look) and I've started to listen.

But I have listened/watched to numerous interviews/speeches of JD Vance from the past few years. Rachel Maddow has a neat backgrounder/take down.

My general conclusion is twofold; that is, at 39 years old, Vance has drawn two major conclusions from his life so far:

1) As a young kid in the military, he learned that the supposed smart thinkers in the DoD/Pentagon are often wrong.

2) As a student at Yale Law (he studied polisci/philo at OSU), he felt out of place.

***

If I were President Trump in 2025, I would send VP Vance on several world tours. Let Vance arrive as a US VP (pomp/protocol) and then have a sit-down with the various local leaders. Let Vance suss out the situation.

Let me add these points.

When Eisenhower chose Nixon, Nixon was famous in the federal arena as a remarkable courtroom lawyer.

Vance is famous because he wrote a book.

****

Born in the 1910s, Nixon and Kennedy, like Trudeau Snr, their significant memory was August 1914.

Maddow is crying like a little communist b*tch because she doesn't understand the difference between personal favors and hiring quotas. lol

I didn’t think much of the VP pick, but I didn’t know much about Vance.  But the more I hear, the more I’m impressed.  And to realize that he didn’t even like Trump in 2016, but grew to support him?
Being willing to change one’s mind when new facts come to light, that’s a rare thing in politics these days.

He grew up in a single parent family, and his mom battled addiction his whole childhood.  Coming from humble beginnings, that can also be a great asset in politics.

Vance will be a hard guy for the woke to target with their normal nonsense

-Grew up poor in the care of his Memaw isolating the charge that Republicans are a party of the very rich

-Married a South Asian immigrant isolating the lefty race baiting

-A military member isolating Biden's lies about "suckers and losers"

The guy embodies the average American and any attack on him will be seen as an attack on the general public.

What do you mean the left? They just had Union people there. Didn't they? Talking about right to work legislation? Talking about the evils of corporate profit?

MAGA is leftist now.

MAGA is leftist now.

I'd say they are more pragmatic

The guy embodies the most extremist right wingers in America. Esp now that he's made the big bucks from his book and venture capital gigs with Thiel.

MAGA Enters Racist Meltdown Mode Over J.D. Vance’s Wife

The far right is absolutely losing it over Usha Vance.

The past week has seen an outpouring of hate from the far right over the wife of Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance. The unremarkable fact that Vance is married to Usha Vance, a woman of Indian heritage, has become a fixation for white nationalists online.

Following Monday’s announcement of Vance as Trump’s running mate, white nationalist “groyper” Nick Fuentes seemed to enter a meltdown on his broadcast, saying, “What kind of man marries somebody that isn’t a Christian? What kind of man marries somebody named Usha? Clearly, he doesn’t value his racial identity, his heritage. Clearly, he doesn’t value his religion. He doesn’t marry a woman that professes Jesus Christ? What does that say about him?”

Jaden McNeil, another white nationalist activist, posted a picture of Vance, his wife, and their newborn with the caption, “I’m sure this guy is going to be great on immigration.” Other prominent far-right accounts havesimilarly bemoaned Vance’s multiracial family, with replies awash in bigotry. “There is an obvious Indian coup taking place in the US right before our eyes,” whined far-right conspiracy theorist Stew Peters.

Ban Porn to save families... wow...

He isn't wrong.

Porn has ruined many men, and women regarding unrealistic social expectations. Relationship expectations. Heck, even grooming expectations.

If you've dated a woman who needs to be punched in the stomach and have her face peed on while you remind her of how worthless they are, then you can thank porn for that.

Its just not realistic, though.

Only the left can have the lack of self awareness and the audacity to claim the right is racist because they nominated a candidate that married someone that isn't white. Kind of like when they said white people that adopt black kids are racist. It's just laughable at this point. So my response to this ridiculous article:

Yeah. Ok. Whatever.

I swear the only people that know what Nick Fuentes said are leftists. And I've never heard of the other guy. Clearly only the left cares what these two have to say. That should tell you all you need to know.

The Rules for Liberal tactics:

  1. If they can't refute the content, attack the source.
  2. If they can't refute the content, attack the poster.
  3. If 1 and 2 fail, pretend it never happened.
  4. Everyone you disagree with is Hitler.
  5. A word is defined by the emotion it elicits and not the actual definition.
  6. If they are wrong, blame the opponent.
  7. If a liberal policy didn't work, it's a conservatives fault and vice versa.
  8. If all else fails, just be angry.
