New report says 1 in 4 Canadians may be living in poverty - National | Globalnews.ca

A new report from Food Banks Canada suggests the number of Canadians living in poverty may be higher than previously thought, with the organization estimating 25 per cent could fall under this category because they cannot afford two or more household essentials.

The report, released Tuesday, introduced what the authors call a material deprivation index (MDI) — a metric used in Europe to measure a poverty level standard of living.

Just for fun I did a couple quick searches about this in the mainstream media.

Pride month? Mentioned several times on cbc and other mainstream outlets, some local media too. 

Men's mental health? Didn't find a single story.

It's a lot easier to understand if you hit your head a few times first, but specifically i was addressing his "we get along" comment which he and I haven had numerous discussions about. 

Short version, he feels that all canadians get along and there's no problem in canada with disagreements and i believe that  its' a lie that we get along and that there's serious divisions right now and offer the fact his own province is talking about a separation referendum again as an example. But there's a lot more than that. 

I've noted to him in the past if we don't get honest with ourselves and address the very real divisions in a healthy manner then we open the door to the same kind of reactions we're seeing in europe at the moment.

A QUARTER MILLLION. Over 6 days.  Sorry but nobody has an entourage that big. 

Lets put that in perspective.  If he spent 20 dollars per meal and put up 3 meals a day and had an "entourage" of 100 people - that'd be 36 thousand over 6 days. if he spent 40 dollars per meal on average, breakfast lunch and dinner and had that many he'd be at 72 grand. 80 bucks a plate for every single meal? Still only half way there. 

And he doesn't have 100 people with him. And his security will be a separate bill as well for their meals etc. 

So lets cut the bullshit. this is WAAAAAAAY beyond extravagant.  He's eating meals worth several hundred dollars a plate if not thousands. 

That's a lot more than 14 dollars.

This is just the plane food, like beef brisket, mashed parsley potatoes with truffle oil, pan fried beef tenderloin, braised lamb chops and more. The NP reported. They were not impressing anyone, but just being pigs. Could be wrong but we all know it's probably not. LOL. And it was a $16 orange juice and Bev was from the north, where $16 was probably a good price. And then the media kept running a pic of her with a smoke in her mouth. Sad how they treated her.

Just to put this in perspective - on any given night in canada there's about 25- 35 thousand homeless.

and it shows that in an entire year many MPS for all of their travel and their dependents and designated Travelers spent 50 or maybe $60,000 And that is all travel costs including food travel expenses air flight costs etc
