Cold Rationale On A Saturday

Recommended Posts

1. There have always been a multitude of reasons why Ukraine cannot "win" this war with Russia. This one is over. Russia will dictate any "agreements" with regards to a peace settlement. That's just the way it is.

2. Israel missed their opportunity to elliveate their Gaza problem decisively. This will likely end with the Gazans crossing into Egypt in a giant refugee camp.

3. Iran and Israel need to stand down. The USA needs to stay out of any squabbles between them. Same goes for Russia and China. The stakes are way too high. We all know Israel's "glass parkinglot" policy. If the 2 fools want to waste themselves...let 'em do it alone.

4. Brandon's only chance for victory is now that either Trump is put in jail convicted of...something, or the Democrats cheat. The longer this goes, the more RFK takes Democrat votes. Hell the more Brandon talks, the more Democrats lose votes. His latest scheme...more collage debt buying...is only going to p1ss off a majority of Americans.

5. Pixie-Dust is history. The next PM of Canada will be Pierre Polievre. The Gas tax will be axed and hopefully the fossil fuel industries will be unchained.

And that's the way it is, this 13th day of April, 2024.

I'm willing to take a chance with WW3. Better that than a world in which the West's right-wing shrugs in the face of the Putin's of the world. I think the dangers of radioactive fallout are overrated.

Almost four decades after the Chernobyl disaster—the world’s worst nuclear accident—signs of life are returning to the exclusion zone. Wild animals in Chernobyl are flourishing within the contaminated region; puppies roaming the area are capturing the hearts of thousands. Tourists who have watched the critically acclaimed HBO series Chernobyl are taking selfies with the ruins. Once thought to be forever uninhabitable, the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone has become a haven for flora and fauna that prove that life, as they say in Jurassic Park, finds a way.

I'd certainly prefer that I personally survive but it goes without saying I could care less about you.

I honestly think climate change and dictatorship, not necessarily in that order, are a far greater peril. You support more of these not less because you're insane.

1. What about the pipeline drone attacks ?
2. Gaza will be vacated ?  Ok... timeline ?
3. Agree with your call for peace.
4. His numbers are going up as the economy improves.
5. Do you think it will be all blue skies for PP as many here seem to think ?

No. I'm not big in Brandon's or Pixie-Dust's brand of dictatorship. These you support because...

You hate people.

1. What about them?

2. Meh...from what I'm seeing...as long as it takes.

3. Groovy

4. The economy is not improving Mike. Counting a person with 2 part time jobs as 2, is just more Libbie cheating. The answer to our economic woes, is obvious.

5. No. I think he'll have serious opposition. I expect cities and provinces will oppose his plan for home building. Quotas are never popular. Do I think he'll be better for Canada than Pixie-Dust? Lol...

No, I just don't like them as much anymore but I also feel sorry for them.

It's been said before that all the other living things we share the planet with would give a collective cheer if we disappeared.  Disappearing from the landscape certainly seems to have been what's led to animal populations around Chernobyl recovering so well despite being there 100's of times more radioactive fallout than Hiroshima. But of course we're the weediest most invasive creature on earth so you can be sure we'll survive too.  It would sure cut into CO2 emissions nicely.

And you can be sure any real self-respecting dictator would be quite annoyed at you associating them with Trudeau or Biden.

I can be sure of that can I...

Your "dislike" of humanity is noted.

Nationalist,

1. Soviet Ukraine will be divided.

2. Israel? This argument will never end.

3. Iran? This will end.

4. Biden will win - but the Republicans will win the federal Senate.

5. Poilievre will win. Carbon tax? (Because of the GST, the Tories were reduced to two seats.)

1. With luck, we will have a Kissinger world order as in 1815.

2. Trust me. Lebanese always argue.

3. Iran is two-sided. Wait.

4. Mail-in votes. In critical counties, in critical states, the Dems win. Kryptonite.

5. No explanation needed.

1. From what I've read, they are such a game changer that Biden has asked Ukraine to stop doing them.

2. 0k. I agree it will be a long time.

3. 4. 5. Generally, I agree with what you've written here, although I do think the economy is getting slightly better.

So we're down to...

1. Ukraine can and probably will continue to drone attack sites inside Russia proper. However all that's gonna do is raise oil prices and p1ss off the Russians. At this point, I think p1ssing off the Russians further would be to invite them to bomb the Hell outta Kiev.

1. If it costs the Russians a lot of money, it could do them damage.  Every escalation has a price for sure.

And high oil prices would cost Biden the election at some point.

Side issue - @August1991 might enjoy this meta observation - have international politics ever impacted all of us so directly as these days ?  It's like we're in a small room with the walls closing in 1 inch an hour.

Indeed. And that's a "bad" thing. Eventually the rat theory will explode.

What do the Ukrainians care if the Russians are pissed off?  They're already invading and fully committed.  Now, instead of being really really really mad, you figure they'll get really really really really mad?  🙄

Tell me again how Ukraine is going to kick Russia's ass.

Do you have an answer for the question?  Why would Ukraine care if Russia gets mad?  What have they been doing that they haven't already done?  🙄
