You've just proven yet again how f*cking dense you are....

You can't even f*cking read can you!  I fail to see where Russia is even mentioned in my comment....because I haven't commented on this, other than pointing out your usual schtick of accusing someone of lying.

F*cking dense....

Holy shit, you are a dumb ass.

What was it I was saying he lied about?

I think by now everyone knows how this will shake out.

In order to avoid direct war with Russia, Ukraine is gonna get smaller and be a sort of buffer zone between western Europe and Russia.

This has been the fear-mongering point folks like you have been making from the start... yet here we are, not at direct war with Russia.

Every step of the way, it has been the same fear-mongering. OH NO, we can't give them those missiles... Russia will nuke us! OH NO, we can't give them F-16's, Russia will nuke us!

Here we are years later, Europe is still committed to ever-increasing aid packages to support Ukraine.

So no, it is not what everyone knows, it does certainly seem to be your continued wishful thinking.

They're running out of soldiers. And the Ukrainians want a negotiated end.

Exactly what I've been saying, the Ukrainians now realize.

If Ukrainians hadn’t wanted to fight Putin would have swallowed the country lock, stock and barrel. I really can’t fathom the angry nihilism that would cheer that prospect.

Like Johnny Rocco, Putin simply wants more. He’ll always take what he can. As soon as any peace deal is signed he’ll be looking for another war, in Ukraine yet again or with another hapless neighbour of his predatory regime.

Let them fight. I dont care as long as I'm not paying for it and not being dragged into it.

Perhaps NATO should have admitted Russia when they had the chance?

There would be no need for a NATO except for Russia.

No, it isn't. You would have had us believe that OMG ANY DAY NOW Russia was going to nuke us or Ukraine was going to collapse... blah, blah, blah.

Ukraine still stands. Russia has gained a few more inches of land.

What on earth did Trump think he was doing fawning over Putin? Bringing his economic team as well like he was negotiating with Switzerland. No answers for the journalists either. What a fiasco. Remember how he talked to Zelensky? As anybody who dealt with de Gaulle could attest, allies can be harder to like than adversaries - they make more demands - but one really shouldn’t reveal that. A certain froideur is expected when meeting the enemy.

And then there was Putin with all that cosy talk of neighbours, shared history and Orthodox churches. He could have been singing this to Alaska:

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood
A beautiful day for a neighbor
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?

If I'm the Ukraine I didn't feel good prior to this 'summit', and I'm feeling a lot less good about it right now.  I found it odd that Trump said 'I'm going to call NATO, then... Zellensky'.  I just assumed he'd mention the Ukraine first.  The press conference gave me the impression of an in and out business meeting to set up the next one....which I'm not surprised about.  He was like this with the doting of Putin in his first term and he was again today. Something isn't right about that...

We’ve had nearly four years of an illegal war of aggression by an indicted war criminal who has kidnapped tens of thousands of children and killed hundreds of thousands of people, yet he is feted like a hero by America’s president.

The master negotiator again bows to Putin in face to face meeting....why.

U.S. president reverses course, calls for peace deal after leaving Alaska meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he will meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday after a Russia-U.S. summit ended without an agreement to stop the fighting in Ukraine after three and a half years.

In a reversal only a few hours after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said an overall peace agreement, and not a ceasefire, was the best way to end the war. That statement echoed Putin's view that Russia is not interested in a temporary truce and instead is seeking a long-term settlement that takes Moscow's interests into account.

Trump and Ukraine's European allies had been calling for a ceasefire ahead of any negotiations.

The spectacle is the reason.

An endless Mashup of meaningless events, meant to beguile the clueless.

DOGE, big beautiful Bill, ICE, tariffs on and off constantly, bombing Iran, ultimatums everywhere...

A kaleidoscope of chaos, a fun house of geopolitical horrors...

Of course he did.  There were 'severe consequences' for Russia if Putin did not agree to peace with Ukraine.

Quite the opposite happened in front of the world....  Putin had the world stage to reiterate Russia's position of 'eliminating all barriers' to their land want while Trump cowered with no rebut at all, other than praise of the meeting.  Putin accomplished everything he wanted, on US soil too boot.  Trump was just there for a photo op and to see if a trade arrangement was possible.

The meeting was 'so productive' that he 'probably won't have to think about any sanctions' for a few weeks.

That's bowing to Putin.

Ukraine is striking back hard in the aerial war, hitting Russia’s refineries. Nowhere west of Siberia is safe anymore and the effects are plain to see at gas stations across the country. What is odd is that Putin seems genuinely blind to the existential risk to his weakened country posed by ally du jour, China. Millions of Chinese already work in Asian Russia without visas, preparing the way for outright annexation. It would be ironic if this special military operation led to the breakup of Russia, and would serve Moscow right, but such a calamity would also greatly increase China’s power in Eurasia.

Zelensky hits the nail on the head with these darkly amusing remarks about Putin’s Russia:

Quote

“And really I don’t understand why the leader of the country which has the biggest territory in the world needs some more kilometres – that’s why I think that this war is not about the land and not about territory for him. It’s about our sovereignty and about our independence.”

70% of Ukrainians want a peace deal.

Would you deny the vast majority of the population of Ukraine? Zelinsky is doing just that. In May he canceled national election...again.

This is now pathetic. Its rather obvious that Russia is acting with restraint and does not really want all of Ukraine.

What The Green T-Shirt has hit, is his own people over the head with a sledgehammer.

The only people who want this pathetic war to continue, is European war-hawks who think they can stand up to Russia...a bad joke if there ever was one...and war-hawks in America. The people who have actual skin in this...the Ukrainian people...overwhelmingly want a peace deal.

And you...from the comfort of your home thousands of miles away...want to deny them that.

Of course they want peace. They always have. They have no designs on Russia. The problem is that Putin doesn’t understand peace the way most Westerners do. Peace for him is a pause on the way to taking the whole country and continuing the war to reconstruct the Russian empire in Eastern Europe. Putin will only act with restraint as you call it when he is brutally restrained by force.

And you're an expert on what Putin wants...because?

People like you are and have been for a very long time, a HUGE problem for international affairs. You somehow think you know the minds of people who are completely different than you. Different values...different desires...different religions. Yet..."Of course everyone wants what we have." Unfortunately...no they don't.

Even in central Europe, they do not allow Muslim "refugees". The EU and Germany have been trying, in vain, to force them on those nations, but they will not take them under any threat.

You DO NOT know the minds of other societies and cultures and your insistence that you do is a recipe for "He's got 'em".

Interestingly enough, the Euros are now talking about another "coalition of the willing".

Its all just fcking pathetic.

Expert?

We don’t have to be experts to observe what Putin is actually doing and actually has done.
