Rebound Posted October 10, 2023 Report Posted October 10, 2023 The I.R.S. has placed a lien on a Florida property owned by Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and lawyer for Donald J. Trump, because he owes roughly $550,000 in income taxes, according to a court filing. The property, a lakeside condominium in Palm Beach, sits less than three miles from Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s private club and residence. Mr. Giuliani and his ex-wife had tried to sell it for $3.3 million in 2019, but never found a buyer. The existence of the court filing in Palm Beach County was first reported by The Daily Mail. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/05/us/politics/irs-lien-giuliani-palm-beach-condo.html Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”
Caswell Thomas Posted October 10, 2023 Report Posted October 10, 2023 Giuliani has more to worry about than the $1.4 million he owes his 1st attorney for his defense attempts which failed when the attorney found out, by Giuliani confessing to having lied previously to his attorney about statements he made in Georgia's election results and vote counting which he NIW admits were false. He's now being sued $2.7 billion by the SmartMatic company for his false statements regarding the veracity if the votes counted by those machines...AND his second attorney left him very recently also because Giuliani has, at the last minute, filed a countersuit against SmartMatic stating essentially that he lied again about the lies he claimed about election fraud that he lied about in Court that cost him his first attorney! Oh...and the IRS has just filed a $550,000 tax lien against the estate property he owns just 3 miles from Trumps Mar a lago estate and golf resort because he failed to pay taxes on it, ...one hears he is now claiming he is entitled to presidential protection from those taxes because he bought it as Trump's lawyer....we'll see how long that defense lasts.... How does Rudy buy a condo for himself "as Trump's lawyer"? Seems like a typical Trumpian delay tactic that will never fly and he probably knows that. Quote

Let's pray that will be the case. Another reason why nobody takes him seriously. I mean, the idea that we can just eliminate the work of the FBI, ATF, IRS, etc.-- that the work simply won't be done anymore-- only appeals to children. Obviously those agencies provide significant value. They can't simply cease to exist. Obviously some agency will need to collect taxes. Just randomly breaking stuff that feels unpopular or inconvenient isn't smart, it's stupid. And it certainly isn't leadership. 1 3 Quote

I'm sure someone told you that the United States should model it's tax system after a country with a population about the size of San Diego (because that's apples-to-apples ?) but even they have an "IRS." 1 Quote

The GOP introduced a bill to abolish the IRS. Trump just cut their budget. We go to a Fair Tax system and say bye-bye to the bullshit. It's simple. Edited October 12, 2023 by Deluge Quote

Yes, it's a very stupid thing to say, so stop putting your stupid words in my clever mouth. There is no tax plan or circumstance that eliminates the need for an IRS-like agency. Someone still has to do the work of writing the laws and standards, communicating those standards, and tracking, monitoring and enforcing those standards. 1 Quote

impartialobserver Posted October 12, 2023 Report Posted October 12, 2023 Another aspect to the rabid, adamant internet forum poster that is perplexing is their love of fantasy. They harbor these grand and completely unrealistic ideas. Ideas that have 0% chance of ever coming to pass. Yet they waste their time writing post after post about it... One example is eliminating the IRS. Not going to happen. The name may change and they may downsize but there will always be a revenue collecting portion of the government. 1 Quote
