Things are little more Escape From New York right naow

Depends where you are I guess. Chaos is a place. I am one of those who must go to work today. Stupid managers found out we are on "the list". Nobody even asked if I want to self quarantine.

Driving in to work today will be like a scene from "The Andromeda Strain".

Tell that to the Good olde boys in of Louisiana.

Coronavirus cases in Louisiana have spread faster in the first two weeks of the state's outbreak than they have in other states and countries across the world, according to an analysis by University of Louisiana at Lafayette Professor Gary Wagner.

Wagner found the increase in Louisiana coronavirus cases over 13 days placed the state on a trajectory for infections ahead of Italy and Spain, some of the hardest hit countries by the virus with the greatest number of cases and deaths.

If this virus gets a foothold in more rural areas, it'll wipe them out as the medical infrastructure there is far less impressive.

So ?    Tell us again about Trump firing Dr. Fauci yesterday.

If you read my comments, they weren't definitive, I said I thought it was the next shoe to drop. It's well documented that Fauci has publicly criticized Trump, and he generally doesn't take that well.

But if that's the one win you want to hold on to, I'll give it to you.

Typical...your comments are seldom definitive.

The best part was as soon as you posted that bunk, Trump appeared on U.S. national television with Fauci.

Haven't seen much to substantiate that notion.

The churn in the Trump admin is pretty unprecedented.

How many Chief of Staff's has he had?

How many roles does he leave unfilled?

And remember when you said the US mortality rate was lower than Canada's?

Good times.

Hmmmm ideological triage...par for course I guess.

this is interesting how currently R's are on the defensive from the medical community. note D's have been fairly quiet really, they only have to differ to the medical community.

Can you be more specific?

its purely subjective but just seemes to me that there is far less partisan bickering at the moment and politics seems ultra focused on whether the federal and state governments are doing enough or are able to do enough and how long that effort will last. with the two extremes (because it seems that extremes are all that politics is about anymore) being "yes, its going along nicely and we'll be out of it soon" and "no, the worst is yet to come".

but the "yes, its going along nicely and we'll be out of it soon" position seems entirely centered on the president and his tendrils while the "no, the worst is yet to come" position is fairly broadly based on the healthcare community and states.

and those stresses are fracturing R lines:

Red state governors buck Trump and stick with social distancing

""You can’t put a timeframe on saving people’s lives. We’re going to make decisions based on the scientists and the facts," Maryland's Larry Hogan, chairman of the National Governors Association, said on Wednesday."

But Trump hasn’t suggested ending social distancing right now,  so the fact that they’re sticking to it isn’t bucking anything.  The issue will be a few weeks from now, where the goal is to ease some of it by Easter.  This story is just more fake news.

how is it fake news? so you're saying that Larry Hogan never said those things?

'Pretty confusing’: Hogan criticizes Trump on CNN over coronavirus messaging

"When asked about President Donald Trump’s comments Monday, when the president seemingly downplayed the outbreak and suggested Americans in self-isolation would be released within weeks, Hogan said 'some of the messaging is pretty confusing.'"

"“Some of the messaging doesn’t match,” Hogan said. “You have the surgeon general [Vice Admiral Jerome Adams] and [National Institute of Allergy and Infection Diseases Director] Anthony Fauci saying things that were almost completely opposite of that yesterday.”"

fake news is where they say things happened when they didn't.

this is really hilarious... its only fake if they actually didn't say it. its widely reported that they did.

On the political right, anger and suspicion over coronavirus precautions

"When Deborah Frank Feinen, the mayor of Champaign, Illinois, drafted an emergency powers declaration Thursday to confront the coronavirus pandemic... the next morning, the National Rifle Association had blared a “national alert” saying “anti-gun extremists” were moving “to undermine our firearms freedom.”

"Nunes’ Fox News interview Sunday, in which he encouraged Americans “go to a local restaurant, go to your local pub.”

"Rev. Rodney Howard-Browne, an evangelical pastor and conspiracy theorist who has prayed with Trump in the White House, encouraged his tightly packed congregation to shake hands, to prove they were not “pansies.”

"pastor Guillermo Maldonado, another Trump religious adviser, derided members of his flock who stayed “home in a cave afraid of the virus,” according to The Herald, saying, “If we die, we die for Christ.”

you can't make this shit up.

Most responsible humans are trying not to put and end point to this. We don't actually know when this all will go back to normal.

But, I can tell you that the NBA, MLB or NHL won't be back by Easter, so it's probably a good idea for Mega Churches not be open either.

It's prudent for people to under promise and over deliver.

Trump's MO is to always over promise and then deny he ever made the promise in the first place.

Fake news is saying governors are bucking the president and sticking with social distancing.  Those were your exact words.  Anyone sticking with social distancing isn’t bucking anything.  They’re following the current guidelines of the federal government.  Fake news.

the original thoughts of the post still stand... Trump is in hot water. yes, his base may support him no matter what. if grandma and uncle can't breath and can't get a hospital bed and then die then they were killed by a virus manufactured by globalists to destroy the US.

but different presidents get elected all the time. its not just about the base showing up on election night or not. there are others who vote back and forth. Trumps re-election has always been on slim ground. he seems to think that his base is all that matters. he's unable to reach out and big tent anything. and when everybody is happy then that probably doesn't matter much.

but people are not going to be happy shortly, if not already.

I agree that sports won’t start up until probably the beginning of May.  I’m guessing the Easter goal is a week or two premature.  I doubt it will happen.  Regardless, governors have final say as to whether any measures will be eased.  The federal government has little jurisdiction.  So this, as usual, is much ado about nothing.  Fake news.

What if it takes 6 months?

That would be counter to any pandemic curve.  I’m not sure what “it” refers to anyways.
