Rue,

I arbitrarily chose 1975.

IMV, Vietnam was an important battle - like Dieppe, Dunkerque - in defeating an enemy.

Make no mistake: America won the Cold War. Why? Americans fought in Vietnam.

Did America win anything or did the Soviet Union defeat itself years later due to internal corruption?f the US won the cold war why is it still in a world conflict with Russia and China? Was North Vietnam defeated?

Also your comparison to fighting Hitler and Ho Chi Minh is  lost on me. North Vietnam was not Nazi Germany trying to conquer the world.

The domino effect has been proven false.

I am not sure what world you live in but it sounds like you took the Green Beret Movie with John Wayne a tad too seriously.

Trump clearly still spends time tanning in tanning beds or fake tanning (more likely, due to orange hue).  Weird.

Bronzers are very popular with many people, and it is not considered racist like blackface.

In the northern climate we don't get much natural sunlight in the winter. Almost none here in BC. I don't think that tanning beds are good for people, but they do get your body to create Vitamin D, and if a guy who doesn't smoke or drink wants to spend 15 mins in a tanning bed every few days then not many of us are in a position to lecture him on his health regimen.

Wanna know weird? If you eat too many bell peppers your skin will start to turn orange. I know because my step-daughter went vegetarian and she wouldn't listen to me about eating too much of the exact same kind of food. She ate 2-3 bell peppers every day and eventually she started to turn a bit orange around the edges. You could see it in her face and especially in her fingers. Once she broadened her diet a bit the orange went away.

Lol. I watched a documentary on time about an African tribe. They counted like this "1, 2 many". That was it. Anything more than 2 was just "many". In that tribe I guess you learn everything you need to know about math in 10 minutes or less.

Well, at least Trump knows where he is and what day it is. That alone should give Donald Trump the presidency of America in the next 2020 election. Whoopee. :P

If there is one thing that I can say about most Canadians is that they sure do prefer to attack Trump then attack their own dear leader who once said that he admired Chinese communism. What is with those bunch of communist?? lemmings anyway? Those lemmings are sure starting to pizz me off. While Trump is trying to save and make America great again, Trudeau is trying to make Canada not so great forever. I think that Biden is just another Trudeau who would like to turn America back to the good old swamp days. Deplorable indeed.

Here ya go....and this probably does not include blackface makeup sales, which are much lower !

The global face bronzer market size was valued at USD 11.9 billion in 2018 and is expected to expand at a healthy CAGR over the forecast period. Face make-up products include cosmetics that are applied on the facial skin in order to enhance and highlight particular facial features. Face bronzer mainly serves the purpose of highlighting and contouring the facial features. In addition, this product also conceals imperfections on the facial skin such as blemishes, pores, freckles, powder spots, under-eye powder circles, and wrinkles. Increasing awareness about various cosmetic products is uplifting the demand for specific face make-up cosmetics, such as bronzers and blushers.

And how many of the users do you think are women vs vain, 80 year old men?

Well, Trump is younger and richer than most 80 year olds.   Bronzers are very popular on cable channel sales networks too.

Either way, much less social stigma compared to wearing blackface....even in Canada.

I'll give the devil his due, Biden wasn't nearly as dopey in the debates as usual.

Can't argue with that. I found a stat somewhere that proves that Trump is 7 yrs younger than the average 80 yr old.

Someone commented about Trump, saying that he was an 80 yr old. That's why B_C commented that Trump was "younger than the average 80 year old". I think most people missed it.

Trump is 73. So I "made up" the "stat" about him being 7 yrs younger than the avg 80 yr old. He is 7 years younger than the avg 80 yr old.

People can easily see the difference between Trump and Biden for the onset of typical, age related dementia.   Biden has demonstrated more vigour than in previous debates, but he is clearly in decline, not unlike Ronald Reagan in his later years.

This doesn't disqualify Biden from becoming president, but it will be a factor and puts more importance on the VP running mate.

Trump actually has a much better opportunity to demonstrate leadership and command during the COVID-19 crisis than out-of-office candidate Biden, and just as Trump has claimed credit for the roaring U.S. economy before, he must accept credit and criticism for how America handles and recovers from the pandemic.

I have always maintained that Trump is just another U.S. president, one that should be rewarded or punished based on the effectiveness of his policies and decisions.    And so shall it be for Trump.   It got so bad for Truman and LBJ, they decided not to run for another term !

Drawn down current and don't start any new foreign wars, tighten up on immigration, throw the unions a bone with a protectionist trade war

What's the big whoop ?  That used to be the Democrats platform.

LBJ (Democrat) led "Great Society" initiatives expanding voting rights, public broadcasting, Medicare, Medicaid, and the "War on Poverty", despite criticism in Dixie.   Had a big tax cut too.

....but by 1968 he was toast because of the Vietnam War.

Only because he wouldn't change his strategy

War of attrition was not the only way, could have held the coastal cities with an economy of force without chasing them all the way to Cambodia

America is a seapower

You've only maintained this because you admire his ability to stir as much shit up as he possibly can.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Wouldn't have made much difference....America's major cities were burning for other reasons too.

The point here is that Trump has not fallen into that abyss, his base remains strong, and he could emerge much stronger by November if things get better.

Biden is fighting just to keep the Bernie bros on side, and so far he is losing them.
