"The reality is that the U.S.-Saudi relationship needs to change. It is based on cheap oil, millions of dollars of arms sales, a complete disregard for Saudi Arabia's human rights violations, and willful blindness when it comes to Saudi's spread of religious radicalism. We must immediately end our support for Saudi Arabia's carnage in Yemen and clearly signal Riyadh that we categorically reject their not-too-unsubtle efforts to drag the US into a conflict with Iran. But we must also recognize that for the sake of stability in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia needs to be part of the solution. It’s a hard reality that the United States sometimes has to work with undemocratic governments to protect our own security, but we should also recognize that relying on corrupt authoritarian regimes to deliver us security is a losing bet."

Next time someone seems confused as to why Americans and the West could be targets, share the facts with them. Facts like over 70,000 people have been killed in Yemen. Thousands by the indiscriminate Saudi ground and air military. Many have been killed due to the famine created by Saudi's blockade. Trump has doubled down on weapons sales to Saudi Arabia because Trump only cares about Trump.

"What do you think of Western civilization?" Gandhi was asked. "I think it would be a good idea," he said.

I'll not seek to appease the Iranians in Yemen,  I have no desire to destroy Persia, but honestly, at the end of the day, if they choose to f*ck with the North German Protestants, we will wipe them from the face of the earth.

People in the Middle East are messing with the wrong people, they are not the extremists, we are, for the sake of their children, they'd better recognize, because make no mistake, we will nuke people into the stone age and sleep like babies after; death to the regime in Tehran, which can be arranged, if they so much as look at us funny, never mind incite an asymmetrical war.

As for Bernie Sanders, he's a Communist traitor to the republic, fit for the yardarm, which, luckily for him, America doesn't have a yardarm anymore.

I can see why the Saudis would be targets.  Have they been much?

Did Freeland complain Saudi Arabia's human rights as well? Then, she was neutered by JT. most of the ME affaires are none of western society concern, only the stability is; in fact, for us to get involved here, its like sleeping with another mans wife.

Not sure why the Saudis should be singled out, compared to many other nations in the world.   Sanders can go after Israel too if he wants...hell...even Canada, which just admitted to an ongoing "genocide".

Saudi oil matters, not so much to the United States, but to the the economic stability of the world's hydrocarbon economy...far more important than the battles and deaths in Yemen.

Messing with the oil and hammer lock on the Middle East would cause a lot of other consequences that "Bernie" cannot solve with more virtue signaling to his base.   Little wonder that the Clinton machine made sure Sanders' presidential hopes were dashed from the very beginning.

I'm honestly indifferent to the suffering of Arabs and/or Persians.   If they feel the need to fight, by all means.

At Lockheed Martin, we never forget who we are working for, which is America of course.

Maybe, but this topic is about Saudi Arabia. But our western nations are very cozy with Saudi Arabia who are no better than Iran, but yet we choose one terrorist nation over another.

Why?

Hypocrisy.

It seems you two don't have a problem with Saudi Arabia killing people in Yemen, but have a problem with Iran acting the same way?

Only one country is behind the creation of an intolerant, religious extremist sect of Islam. And only one country has pumped tens of billions into exporting it around the world. All the Muslim terrorist groups subscribe to that ideological version of Islam. Do you think that's coincidence?

I agree, other than maybe Iran as well.  But Bernie should stick to that and exclude the human rights part.

But Saudi Arabia just recently allowed women to travel freely without a man.  I guess that's progress!!.. :D

Z I respect much fo what you say you know that. I hope you know I don't applaud Saudi Arabgi However Marcus has established himself on this board as a pro Iranian extremist so with due respect having read his past posts, he has one standard for Saudi Arabia and another for Iran. If Saudi Arabia was attacking Israel and not fighting Iran he would be the first supporting them. I take nothing he says with even an ounce of credibility. He believes Muslims should have as many Sharia law states as they want but no Jew should have a Jewish state. His take on Saudi Arabia is based on his pro Iranian beliefs.  That is what I have read from him and that is why I see no need to respond to him rationally or otherwise. He showed his biases on this forum already. I am not about to be part of a two face diatribe on Saudi Arabia from someone who supports Iran which is just as problematic a regime.

As for Saudi Arabia, Trudeau manhandled relations with it as he did India, the US and China. He has a track record of being a foreign relations arm pit with such nations.,He has no clue how to function on an international stage because he is a sheltered rich boy. Today's world is full of  sob's. smiling while holding a gun and explosives and Justin has no clue how to deal with it.

As for Maxime Bernierhe  is an idiot. He has the iq of a stegasaurus. At this point he is playing Capt. Obvious and stating nothing new. He is what is called a populist contrarian. He simply states the opposite of what Trudeau says. At this point if anyone thinks that makes him a genius they need a colonic.

Bernie is an idiot.

Trump's detractors jump up and scream "Trump puts sanctions against countries" and then they scream "Trump needs to cut countries off".

The US-Saudi relationship goes back a bit before 2017. There's a bit of history there. Trump can't just cut ties with every country that's not on the up and up. That's almost every country in the middle east, several countries in Africa and Asia, and even countries like Venezuela who need the help because they were dumb enough to elect socialists...

Saudi Arabia has not been on the up and up for decades.

Also Sanders is the best option the USA has right now.

I never said that they were on the up and up for decades. I just said that they have a history.

They weren't always as bad as they are now, and the US can't just cut everyone off. Isolationism is bad.

Bernie resonates with the people who got useless liberal arts degrees in college and are stuck working menial jobs while they're: dressed like scrubs, talking about how much they hate America and engaging in virtue-signalling competitions.

Trump resonates with people who go to work and are happy to support their community and the economy, support their family and their country, and get along with everyone else just fine.

What do you mean? Trump is going for isolationism himself with the tariffs and trade wars with it's trading partners while cozying up to Dear Leader of NK.

Saudi Arabia is a terrorist nation. A nation where 17/19 of the 911 hijackers were Saudi nationals.  Whats the word for that?  Stockholm Syndrome.

Nice to slander the people instead of his policies. I won't say that Trump supporters are mentally challenged ... but ....

Trump resonates because the American population (actually it was the delegates, because the people's votes actually do NOT matter at all).... voted for a reality star instead of a President.

Trump isn't an isolationist at all, that's just a CNN talking point with no basis in fact. He's tougher than Obama to do business with but that's not the same as being an isolationist.

Have you seen the sanctions against NoKo? What did Obama do to NoKo? How far did he ever get with KJU? Clinton was the guy who gave NoKo billions. Obama gave Iran Billions. Trump didn't give any dictators anything.

Saudi Arabia is decent for that part of the world. Better than Turkey, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. Are you saying that we should blacklist the entire ME?

I nailed the Bernie supporter perfectly. If they have an education then they have a liberal arts degree at best, they make less than $30K/yr, and they get all their dopamine from pissing and moaning about other people. People who believe that anyone who works hard is a sucker.

There's no one in America who took risks and worked hard to build a business or a decent career and then opted for socialism.

Trump resonates with blue collar workers and business owners. The middle class. People who believe that working hard pays off.

I did, but that did not prevent Dear Leader from testing new missiles recently.  Notice how the media used to give Obama crap for talking to Dear Leader, but the media trips over themselves to support Trump in doing the EXACT same thing.

This is how America works. They did not like it when a black man proposed it. But when a white man proposes it...... :D  /sarcasm

Notice how Tusli Gabbard is treated different as she went to meet Assad in order to attempt to prevent more of her fellow soldiers from dying. Calling her an Assad apologist.

Nothing but stupid projection which is a problem on this board.

Socialism is alive in well in the USA , but just not for the average working American.
