Trump wakes up and spins a shiny top for the media and then gets on with his day. Lately he seems to just wake up in time to find out he has incurred ever more of the wrath of the judiciary. And then he gets all sweaty and huffy and tweets out a tad more of his childish anger. Who could blame the media for having a field day with it. And SNL has a seemingly endless source of material. And Baldwin does such a great job. 1 2 Quote

I wish there was more coverage about his authoritarian tendecies before the election. He acts now like an authoritarian as a president. As a president he has no respect the systems of government, no respect for the powers that are vested by the constitution in the legistlative branch and juidiciary and has insulted the judge by calling him "so called judge" on twitter. Impeachment would require the Republican house to impeach trump followed by a Republican Senate. I don't even think alot of clever democrats would impeach trump (like joe manchin) knowing that there are elections in republican states for democratic senators in 2018 and the fact that it feeds into a narrative of Trump being treated unfairly, and doesn't even prevent Trump from running again and theoretically winning again the nomination in 2020 and the election. I also strongly suspect that the free coverage worth $3 billion dollars gave Trump an advantage in the election, he just had to make one comment and it was covered on the news for a week! Sanders had rallies of 30,000 people being ignored. Also acting like an authoritarian didn't seem to get bush or reagan impeached. Reagan illegally sold weapons to Iran violating a congressional law passed which is CRIMINAL, took the proceeds of that illegal weapons sale and used it to fund death squads in central America that murdered 1.3 million people. He then in turn had central and south American criminal syndicates sell drugs into the USA with the permission of the CIA turning a blind eye so they could fund the purchases. He did this under a democratic congress and wasn't impeach, Trump would have to murder someone on tape to get impeached, as in pull out a gun and shoot them with their hands up or in the back of the head. Also if he got impeached, then you got president pence. Does that sound much better to you? Quote
H10 Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Also Trump is a 70 year old guy, with the most stressful job in the world, who is grossly overweight, on statins, sleeps 4 hours a night, has an anger issue, I don't see this guy making it to 78. On the negative side though, Trump's dad lived to 95 and his mother to 88. Quote

SNL isn't good at comedy (haven't been for years), so they might as well chum up to the leftist political crowd. Between Tina Fey slamming Sarah Pallin and now Baldwin doing th same with Trump, SNL is doing great. Baldwin is thinking of taking his Trump thing on the road. As long as Trump keeps providing the fodder, comedians are going to use it. Apparently Trump's sense of humor is lacking as well. Quote

And of course we do get the serious side of things when the newly elected POTUS can't get along with the judicial level of his government. You kinda have to be able to discern both levels. Quote

BubberMiley Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 A government can be overthrown by a resistance or a coup. That doesn't make them the same thing. U.S. presidents are not impeached because some people don't like their policies, including foreign nationals. The legal position is that a "high crime or misdemeanor" means whatever the House of Representatives says it means. Quite literally that's the present constitutional interpretation. When she invoked the military's help to overthrow Trump, she's definitely talking coup - the kind we hear about in banana republics! A coup is a violent overthrow of a government; a resistance is a refusal to support a government, leading to its failure. It is not an "overt seizure" like a coup is.
