I can't argue with this. Hurt feelings at a young age leads to mental health issues later on in life. Words hurt, in case you are unaware.

They hurt a lot more if you've been protected from them up until the point someone actually uses them on you. Snowflakes tend to melt in the heat.

"A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

I frankly doubt the wealthy or the rich would, in most cases, be progressive enough to want their kids in a school like this. Most of those people know better than to raise snowflakes.

No, they put their kids into Klingon military prep schools.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

I think it's significant to the guy who lost his job.  Utterly ridiculous.  What kind of parents must they be to have brought up such an awful child?

It sounds like you're working backwards to find a reason to like rich people... or something.  I don't know anything about the school, or the people running it but a $30K a year private school is probably a little rich for most doctors and lawyers but I am just guessing.

And as I alluded to above, these stories are designed to get a Pavlovian response to people who are validated by their staunch political identities, IMO.

Rubbish.  There are such things as right and wrong without having them tied to left and right.

What is rubbish ?  I don't think I said that right and wrong didn't exist, or that they are tied to left and right either.

What has my contempt for the school and the student to do with my political identity?

Unless...  You think that if he'd been fired for saying he didn't like pipelines while teaching at a school in alberta, I would be all in favour!

I don't even remember what the matter was about, frankly.  The double standard thing doesn't work for this - they publish stories to get a rise from you.   I don't know what your politics are - maybe you would be upset if the politics were switched.

Anyway, don't get offended... maybe you're not like the thousands of others who are interested in the story because of their staunch political identities.

I'm not offended.  I'm just not biased either.  You implied that political leanings are what get people commenting on such things.  It's actually the horror that some spoilt brat can cost someone their job that gets people commenting.  That's all.  The absolute insanity of it.

I guess so.  Myself, I am really tired of really small insignificant injustices being posted all over the country like it's important.  It makes me feel like a sucker.  The left-wing versions make me angry too.  There are lots of examples of both.  I'll try to post one of the left-wing ones next time.

Such is progress.  One only gets pissed off about the stuff one hears about.

No, they're not. Their parents are well-off, which means they probably make $300k or more a year. They could be doctors or lawyers. There's a difference between well-off and rich, ie, those CEOs pulling in $5-$10 million a year, and a difference between them and wealthy (someone with a net worth of several hundred million or more). I frankly doubt the wealthy or the rich would, in most cases, be progressive enough to want their kids in a school like this. Most of those people know better than to raise snowflakes.

How does a teacher saying hateful and hurtful things produce snowflakes?

If you know of one, let us know, and we can watch them and see.

What the teacher said was awful. It's as simple as that. Look past your own hate and realize a child has been victimized.

I know you don't really feel that way, or my posts on here would have triggered you right off the site and into bed for a week with a teddy bear and a hot water bottle.

So I know you're just having us on.

Not at all. I don't get how you can trivialize the emotional trauma this girl has endured. But I am impressed with the hard ass administrators at this posh private school.

Yeah, I'm not buying it.  But keep it up.  Others might.

I told you I wasn't buying it.  That's another way of saying I'm not going to argue about it.  If I don't believe you are serious, how can I?

Believe what you want. Not everyone agrees with you are shares your dark opinion.

How is PC getting out of hand? The teacher's words were careless, hateful, and hurtful. This girl displayed fortitude for having the guts to stand up to this bully.

I thought you said these injustices weren't tied to political leanings. Clearly you do align them.

What would you consider an injustice worth mentioning?

As to Pavlovian responses, everything you read is written to get a response of some kind. If the feeling you get when a spoilt snowflake gets a father of 3 fired over his opinion is not one of disgust there is a disconnect with the reveal world.
