Here we go again. So if someone voices legitimate concerns and questions about Islam they're automatically Islamophobic?

No, it's the all too often ignorant and insulting manner which so many do that does that.

Listen up you guys, there was an idiot(s) on this post that started to bring in Islamic people. This is supposed to be about females.

Men don't have much to hide, but females do. I know hundreds of women personally that would die for a chance to go to an all women pool. I'm sure some person with 0% understanding would go and argue with me to say that men have a lot to hide too.

If that's the case for you, then why don't you open up a post about a day only for men to enjoy the pool. Gender equality eh?

Quit being sour pusses and talking about Muslims in this post. This is about females and males and yes I know I talked about it in my previous post, but that was because of some lunatic people were making it into an Islam thing so obviously I had to refer to it.

If it were just about women having some alone time to swim without men ogling them, I would tend to agree with women-only or men-only swim times.  But I suspect that THAT is not what this is about.

I think it points to a larger question about men's attitudes towards women. In a culture where women are seen as equal and not objectified, women are not under intense pressure, or being "ogled" at pools. In a culture where women's liberty is not held to that standard, the men are not to be trusted.

So, after decades of fighting for women's rights, why should men and women be segregated because of a minority’s religious beliefs?

Not only males only here, male Muslims only....wonder if this has happened anywhere else and how people would react to a Christians only session, or a whites only session .   Seems to me we are going back to times of apartheid.

Because someone decides that other people's concerns are not legitimate that's the end of it?

2) Xenophobic then.  I myself nitpick grammar, etymology and logic but these things don't toss out the legitimacy of Row's post.  If people want to have female-only pool days for whatever reason, why not give them what they want ?

I love how separating the sexes was a horrific indignity to women once upon a time, but now that brown people are demanding it sounds like a purty good idea! And entirely harmless!

Sorry? This is something which was requested by the Muslim community, and yet people are idiots to mention that?

Then why aren't there any? There are tons of womens gyms. Apparently that's economically sustainable due to demand. Why are there no female only pools?

All you have to do is overthrow nature and change biological rules.

Good luck on that. BTW, the idea that women don't ogle men too is fatuous and idiotic.

1) Well the person deciding the question also decided the concerns were legitimate and therefore racism was NOT ALLOWED to be used in the response.  Damn snowflakes flip out when things don't go their way, I swear...

2) No, that's not true.  We always had reasonable accommodation.  9/11 doesn't change every breathing aspect of life, you know.

Exactly.

I can understand and go along with women-only swim times, or men-only swim times or daddy & son/mommy & daughter swim times.

But I don't think that's what this is about - I think it's about segregating the sexes in accordance with Sharia law.

Your answer makes no sense. A person decided that Muslims should not be a part of the discussion and that therefore talking about them inspiring the request was racism.

We do not accommodate different religious groups desire for removing people from public areas because they find their presence offensive. We either have a national, secular culture or we don't. If Muslims, or for that matter, women, want to exclude others from a pool let them build one.

A startling number of people who are deeply enthusiastic about embracing their Muslim neighbours have virtually no idea what Islam is about or about its fundamental beliefs - such as the separation of genders. I've lived next to a Canadian born Muslim for almost three years now and had numerous conversations with him, but I don't know his wife's name and have never said a word to her. Whenever she's with him and he wanders over she either stands back silently waiting for him, or goes into their house.

They cannot come here and try to change our way of life. If they don't like it here then they should go back to the hell they come from where swimming pools are men only or women only. What all men are raping with their eyes?  If so then cover their damn eyes don't punish the victims (women) by forcing them to cover their hair and faces.

That is why so much hidden child abuses in those regions because sexes never mixed and access even talking to opposite sex is so difficult and restricted. Even many marriages take place without them knowing or seeing each other. What the hell!!!!!!!!!

Some gyms have women-only times, too.

That does not sound like equality at all to me. It's more like discrimination against an identifiable group and that is suppose to be against the Charter of Rights and freedoms. Hey, this is what the feminists wanted equality. But now they want swim days for women only. Hypocrisy.

2) That would be you.  You assume that you have domain over other opinions because you state (without proof I might add) that you were born here.

True....it is clearly segregation by sex/gender in a public facility.   Media reported a father being barred from the pool bleacher seats because he was male...he was not permitted to watch his daughter in the pool.    What about beaches and lakes ?   Would not survive a Charter Rights challenge.

Why does the West always seem to want to butt kiss other religions that enter their countries? If I were to emigrate to an Islamic country with my wife would she be allowed to get away with what western women are allowed to get away with in our own western countries? Like hell she will be allowed. Yet here in the West we always have to cater and bow to other people's culture and religion all the time in the name of diversity and multiculturalism.

As you already said. If they do not like how things are done in the West then get the hell out and go back from whence you came. I am fed up with having to butt kiss other foreign cultures and religions. Short, sweet and simple. Works for me. :D

1. It sure would be nice if you moved. Why don't you move to one of those Islamic countries with your wife, if you have one, and go give it a try. Let us know how things are going after a few decades. You seem to think that you can force Canadians to accept other religions and cultures because you were born here. No way, Jose. I will push back on your silly thoughts.

2. I was born here and this is my country too. I will have my opinion whether you are thrilled by it or not. At least I can say that I am a Canadian patriot who will stand up for Canada and it's values, traditions and way of life, and not give in to other foreign cultures and religions as you appear to want to have us all do and accept. That does not work for me.

1. I'm not the one telling people to leave the country.  I was born here.  My religion is none of your business.  If I ask for some accommodation, you have to listen.  Otherwise, you can move as you don't "get" democracy.

2. You have no proof of that.  Your posts reference internet lies (eg. Angela Merkel's religion falsely stated) so your patriotism is of limited value.  I think it's patriotic to tell the truth, myself.

I will gladly accept and honest and hard-working foreigner over a lying shit-disturber, just sayin'.
