Argus
I can't say I've ever heard their music but they do seem to engender a lot of angst among the progressive set. The band has had concert venues cancelled in Calgary and Regina because of progressive outrage at their name. You'd think it would be conservatives, but apparently not. And I think the hypocrisy of the people fuming over the name is pretty obvious from one comment made. I mean, if Rotting Christ is okay for a name what isn't? “Goatwhore, Aborted, Rotting Christ, Dying Fetus …. just a short list of bands I have personally seen at The Exchange that have offensive names that are much less tongue-in-cheek than Black Pussy,” wrote Kurtis Offet. “Glad I now live in Calgary where a much loved venue decided to let people decide for themselves whether or not to attend a show they deem “offensive.” https://ca.news.yahoo.com/us-bands-calgary-and-regina-shows-rescheduled-194920555.html
DogOnPorch
I had the same issues booking Nashville Pussy.
drummindiver
The Bare Naked Ladies got cut from a show at Nathan Phillips Square years ago due to their name and an od of political correctness. I personally like The Heinous Poon Farts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barenaked_Ladies
DogOnPorch
And the Dayglos...Mothers Against Obscene album covers. My favorite show-shut-down was still an RCMP officer who thought the crowd would part for him in the mosh pit....wrong. Probably still looking for his hat. Moonlight Graham
Argus hit on something interesting, How both conservatives and progressives can be outraged/offended and then try to ban things, like bands. Remember Marilyn Manson being banned in places due to Christian conservative outrage.

Guest
I'm not offended by any band name. It seems to me that if they are trying to be offensive, why accommodate the little twits, and if they are not, why be offended? GostHacked
There was controversy on a couple young girls some years back. Prussian Blue. The name may not be offensive, but their material was all right wing , white supremacist crap. Argus hit on something interesting, How both conservatives and progressives can be outraged/offended and then try to ban things, like bands. Remember Marilyn Manson being banned in places due to Christian conservative outrage. I used to listen to him a lot, and loved the way he did things to shake up the music industry and how it's viewed by the media and such. He's a pretty smart guy. I'm not offended by any band name because it's rock n roll and it's awesome. Like people being offended by Elvis shaking his hips on Ed Sullivan. Let people do their art. Bryan
BP's first album is really good. I have not heard their more recent stuff. While the controversy over the name has cost them some bookings, overall it's probably allowed them to be exposed to much larger audience. Guest
I like the Dead Kennedy's. I'm not a fan of Black Pussy's music though. I suppose the name works, since I did go and check them out.
DogOnPorch
The Dead Kennedys are legendary. The others mentioned...not so much. Kill kill kill kill kill the poor.
