FHRITP: That's apparently a thing.

interviewing drunken irish men, you're just asking for it.

I think this counts as victim blaming.

So that just gets me:

Rape culture is a concept within feminist theory in which rape is pervasive and normalized due to societal attitudes about gender and sexuality.

Rape is neither normalized nor pervasive within our culture. Regardless of whatever made up feminist statistics such as the 1 in 4 rape statistic you have. Unless of course you completely redefine rape to the point of absurdity (I've seen some feminists expanding the definition to include 'eye rape' and 'twitter rape'). In that case, can you define rape?

So you've never heard a rape joke or known anyone who's been raped.

The existence of a joke or knowing someone who's been raped doesn't define a culture. They key word is pervasive.

Also, I've seen feminists make 'rape jokes' while trying to bring awareness to 'rape culture'.

OK, define the threshold for pervasive. 1 in 10? 1 in 25? 1 in 100?

Also, I've seen feminists make 'rape jokes' while trying to bring awareness to 'rape culture'.

And surely you're smart enough to understand the difference between making fun of rape culture and making a joke out of actual rape.

Actually most rape jokes I know of, in popular culture, involve men in prison. Just sayin'

The point stands. Prison rape is a form that is both pervasive and normalized.

It's just highlighted as a consequence of crime. And that's not the element of rape that people are concerned about.

John Oliver makes mention of it here.

I'm sorry, the egg one made me LOL.

I will concede, as noted in the OP, that it appears that there's a generation coming up of males in their 20's that do appear to see rape as no bid deal. See the St. Mary's Video, See Jamis Winston, And of course see the topic of this thread.

Now it's possible that this state of mind always existed for young men, and the internet is just now highlighting it for the public. But if not, I'm unsure of the cause. Because in my formative years I certainly never noticed an obvious "rape culture". And I'm still classified as a Millenial.

Right and people never talk about, let's call it "legitimate rape" as a consequence of behaviour, right?

I think it's one of those things that people don't notice until it's articulated.

You asked who raises people like that. She gave a pretty straightforward answer. If you think the shoe fits though, that sounds like a personal issue.

It is, concerning another post she made on the issue in another thread. And I made a pretty straightforward request. Simple enough.

I'm not sure what you mean by the shoe fitting, given your lack of knowledge on the subject with regards to my views is shown by the fact you did not know that that was what I was referring to.

So maybe hardcore pornography would be an appropriate venue to spew forth the FHRITP? I think one of my ex gfs had said once FMRITP (the M is to ME). Only because she was not into GFITA.

There's hardly any difference at all between your girlfriend asking you to FHIRTP and you shouting it at a complete stranger in the street.

I don't know why you would think she was referring to you in an off handed way. That's all. Why would you wear it if it's not about you? Edited by cybercoma

I guess you just missed the other post.

None of these guys are shouting it at the interviewer, they're shouting it at the camera.

BTW- how did this become a rape thread? It's FHRITP, not FHRITPWPC.

So you can insult a whole gender and shout anything you want as long as you don't look one of them in the the eye while you do it.

As a man, I'm offended by these idiots. But, let's face it, it's hooliganism. Sure, it's sexist, but it's not rage inducing sexism.

How do you know? I think there has to be a certain amount of rage involved in this kind of behaviour, at minimum a high degree of contempt. Where do you draw the line?

We forget that the specific phrase is somewhat peripheral to the fact that these women are being hampered from carrying our their jobs with a reasonable expectation of not being harassed.

Remember that this happens to them pretty much every work day, and sometimes more than once per day. This is NOT a "...one-off, ho hum, ignore and carry on..."....

How would you like somebody pulling your chair out from under you at least once a day at work?.... every day?... sometimes twice a day?... especially during your important presentations to clients?... After two years of that, would that be rage-inducing?

I think you meant to say "people", because males get the treatment just as often as females.
