Neither the brain or the liver is that sensitive that getting drunk once is going to hurt you.

There are things that are much more damaging to cognitive ability. Two that readily come to mind are religion and brain dead patriotism.

I tend to agree, it's right up there with 9/11 conspiracy theories, and we don't allow...o wait. Meh, that only resulted in the death of thousands, it's not like were turning a woman's apparent complete inability to consent to sex after a drink on it's ear, that we can't have.

I think you need to broaden your horizons in terms of what constitutes discussion. More than once you have stifled discussion here. It's a very concerning trend.

I agree. Why are we having a discussion of the science of 911 when 'jokes' that serve to make a point are not okay?

I can appreciate the humor and the intention behind it as an argumentative device. I understand your point here in this discussion.

My own immigrant grandmother joked when she heard that American men could be charged with raping their wives. She said that in her old country, all men would be in jail. I remember laughing at the time. Now, it means something totally different to me and it aint funny.

I must say I'm disappointed by this ruling as it's going to cause a severe reduction in good conversation going forward.

I think you guys are good enough to be able recognize that if ever there was a time to for you all to act like gentlemen in the forums, then that time is now.

This isn't a sensitive topic. This is about people posting immature, crude remarks under the guise of 'jokes' that are supposed to make some kind of a point. Rape is a very real and violent act towards women but I suppose anonymous cowards don't give a dam.

That is fine.... If you encounter a discussion getting side-tracked for <INSERT REASON HERE> then report it and ignore it. Do not respond in kind with personal blather that is demonstrably unclear and would thus aggravate the thread drift.

No. I do not find it funny. Quite the contrary. I understand the intent of the joke as an argumentative device. I understand the point that is being made with humor as a method of grabbing attention towards it. I am not apologizing for the actions of rapists, pigs, cows or chickens. However, it is in my nature to eat 3 of the above. Whereas it is not in my nature to socialize with any of them.

Regardless, it does not matter what I find to be funny because the point that is being made can be expressed more clearly WITHOUT that humor.
