Greg, this is a disaster. It is hard to quote another post.

Please go back to the previous version of this forum software, or find other software. The current version pretends to offer HTML support but in fact it doesn't.

=====

A key - indeed the single, most critical - feature of a forum is how it handles replies to posts.

Once upon a time, Maple Leaf Forum made it simple to reply to other posts. Then, MLF decided to upgrade with many fancy features (icons, colours, emoticons etc) but it lost sight of its primary purpose: easy communication.

I have posted on this issue before and I fear that I am whistling in the wind.

I drop by this forum the same way that I stop in to a local tavern. I have a few drinks and I chat with the regulars. Surely, the forum should make it easy to do that without any fancy bells and whistles. Otherwise, I'll go to the pub down the street

Perhaps the owner of this private pub is trying to get rid of a cantankerous customer and has changed the doors and locks to make it difficult for him to get in. :P

Oh and going back to old forum software would open the forum and its users up to exploits. Not a good idea.

New forum software would take time to code and would cost money. I won't speak for Greg, but I can't imagine he's interested in making the investment in either.

Aug91,
You are not whistling in the wind. Rather, you are asking Greg to do things that are impossible.

The Invision Power software company has been struggling for over a year to update its software so that it can handle all of the invisible secret demands made through the internet. Every forum that uses IPBoard has been on hold indefinitely.

For the time being, if you want proper functionality with the MLW forum, I suggest that you use a proper operating system and a web browser that has YOUR experience as a priority.

We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.

Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

Have you tried using Firefox or Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer? They're much better browsers anyway. I'm using Safari on a Mac and I don't have any problems with it.

Zero issues here formatting quotes posts etc in Chrome.

My dumb phone OTOH...PITA, but that's the phone not this board.

Upgrading to a new version of the board software is difficult work, rolling back would be, I'm sure, even more difficult: dozens of hours of unpaid work, debugging problems, researching on the web how to deal with a thousand little things that can go wrong. All to accommodate Microsoft's terrible browsers which no one should use.

No one should use IE ever. I keep hearing propaganda saying that it's "better" but it never is.

I really don't understand why people just download modern browers to deal with such things.

Download Chrome here:

I am new here. Why are there limits on what topics I can reply to?

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1. Now I cannot cut or paste into anything on this board. Even when klicking on "Quote" on a post, the post does not reappear in the "Reply to this topic" window.

Help!

Firefox plus adblock. I tried this site on IE on another computer and was taken aback that there are ads mixed in with the forum thread posts. LOVE adblock.

adblock can also be added to IE or Chrome.
