And what gun law would have prevented this?

We know hardly anything about this yet, except there is an armed killer still loose.

No, he had two rifles on him. Shotguns don't normally have magazines.

I own one with a mag, but it is bolt action.

Why rightly so? He could be suffering a mental illness in which case the right course of action is treatment. I mean, I understand he could be killed in an attempt to resist being arrested but to just outright execute him wouldn't be right at all.

Actually, the minute he killed three Canadians he lost his "right" to be treated as a human in my opinion. Who the hell cares if he's got a mental illness? There is no excuse for what he did and therefore there is no excuse for him to live. He should now have the same "rights" as my Doberman - if my dog kills (or even draws blood) he has the "right" to be put down without pain.

I sincerely hope this animal is put down. Don't much care if it's with or without pain.

Is this a post in support of capital punishment? How un Canadian!

My post is in support of:

1) Capital punishment

2) Not making the same mistake we did with Khadr

I don't see any shotguns in that picture.

That's a pump action 12 guage on his back. Looks to me like a Remington 870 Tactical (police issue).

The shells on the stock are kind of a giveaway. Anyway, onto other things:

So what gun law would have prevented this?

Maybe none, we don't know. What's your point?

I agree.

But what I said was criticism of gun laws that could have prevented this!

Like what gun laws? He's never been in trouble with the law, and there are no reports he's mentally ill. He's just another wack job spouting paranoid conspiracy theories. We have a few of them here on this site.

I do not disagree with you. My recollection is that these types of killings usually terminate with the shooter committing suicide and I suspect this will go the same way, either by his own hand or through suicide by cop. I doubt if he thinks that he can escape. He had to know at the time or knows by now that he has murdered 3 RCMP officers. He must also know what happens to cop killers in penitentiary.

I will admit that in this type of killing it is very difficult to have any sympathy for the killer but you are correct, let the courts decide.

I still believe that he will not be captured alive.

Derek L was kind enough to message me about these guns. Here's what he said:

to answer your question on which guns he is carrying (I've also sent said info to the RCMP, since they appear not to know based on their last press conference), with 100% certainty, is a Mossberg 590A1 pump action 12 gauge shotgun (with AR-15 stock), and the rifle is a Norinco/Polytech M305, which is a semi auto rifle in 7.62mm/.308 WIN……The police are outgunned in terms of calibre and range of the rifle, coupled with the rifle round (a very large and popular hunting round for large game like Moose, and also used by NATO militaries in typically light machine guns) which will easily defeat the body armour worn by the majority of police, perhaps even ERT members.

And

They are both non-restricted firearms and on the cheaper side as far as guns go (in the ~$500-600 range) and there are 100s of thousands of both legally owned across Canada........If you've seen the movie Full Metal Jacket, the rifle private Pile uses to do himself in is a M-14....these rifles M305/M1A are semi only rifles based off of the M-14.....akin to the AR-15 being a cousin of the select fire M-16.

You can tell hydraboss he is close, but it is a Mossberg based on the rear sight guard, which a Remington 870P (of which I also own a number of) don't have.

WE just need to look at the pictures of the guy to see what the main problem really is. The camos and the military type weapons are a dead giveaway. He's been conditioned by the gung-ho military images of killing people in foreign lands and he thinks he needs to be a part of it. Violent video games perhaps or watching too many US made war movies that glamorize their armed forces? The bad effects of the US led wars will obviously wear off on society and cause such people to pick up the guns and go on a rampage.

The only reason why it's so much less in Canada is because it's a little farther from home for these kind of individuals. And of course, the increased difficulty of obtaining the weapons that are expressly intended for killing people.

Sad that he probably won't get to tell his story because these truths would surely leak out.

I suspect the guy went into the woods an committed suicide. That's why the infrared can't pick him up and there've been no sightings lately.

Would not the body still be dissapating heat? 12 hrs isnt that much time for a body to cool

This is just insane.

Rather than spam the forum with your ridiculous unsupportable claims of more insanity, why not try to explain why you think my explanation is insane?
