BC_chick Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 My point is I have never nor will I report anyone in this forum. Never say never until you're greeted with an onslaught of profanity directed at you. I only ever used the report option once, 8 years ago, and even though I've been mildly insulted here and there I've never bothered reporting it. Yesterday I went on a reporting spree because what took place was way out of line. It's kind of the worst thing that any humans could be doing at this time in human history. sharkman Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 And I guess your spree was partly unsuccessful as I didn't so much as receive a warning point. So are you and your partner in crime going to leave the forum in a huff as you promised?
BC_chick Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) Your reading comprehension lacks as usual. There was a condition attached to that promise. Big Guy Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Never say never until you're greeted with an onslaught of profanity directed at you. I only ever used the report option once, 8 years ago, and even though I've been mildly insulted here and there I've never bothered reporting it. Yesterday I went on a reporting spree because what took place was way out of line. I am not suggesting on how others should behave. I was answering a question. I have been around for a long time. My experience has been that when one comes upon somebody who is ridiculing, demeaning or swearing at someone else (or me) then that incident tells a lot about the one spouting the invective and very little about the one receiving them. I have gained a fairly insightful view into the various avatars and participants who post on this site. When I read where one poster is vehemently criticizing another poster, it means nothing to me. I am quite capable of making up my own point of view about somebody. What little I do gain, is a better insight into the spouting critic in the use of vocabulary, use of appropriate language, civility, self control and intent. There are those who seem to be here only to incite, insult and aggravate. Their criticisms of anyone are easily dismissed. If you accept derisive comments from an anonymous source, whom you do not respect, as a serious criticism then I can see where you might get upset. I do not. Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
The_Squid Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Hey...why was my post in the new JT USA Relations topic deleted ? I specifically wished good luck to PM Trudeau on a new softwood lumber deal and that pesky oil pipeline. Clearly they've finally gotten tired of your constant trolling on the forum.

The mod answer is: "Your post was taken down because MOST OF IT should have been contained in a report and the REST OF IT was a lame-ass attempt to hide trolling." So I posted the same content again to test this lame-ass explanation. Economics trumps Virtue.

msj Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 My point is I have never nor will I report anyone in this forum. ... When you start to spend a lot of time complaining to the referees then I suggest you review the reason as to why you chose to spend your valuable time here. The point of the report button is to help the moderators out. They do not see every post and will not on their own moderate. It's a complaints based system so if you are not reporting when you should be reporting then you may be part of the problem. I have reported people although not lately. The last time I reported someone it was a certain fishman who's post basically called me a "village idiot" and other niceties. When you report you can comment to the moderator. So I explained to take the post down as it was unnecessary to the thread and nothing more than a typical ad hominem attack; no need for any suspension. That appears to be what they did - deleted the post, everyone moved on, everyone happy (probably because as the village idiot I'm always happy!). The system worked. My gawd, the system worked! Don't hear about the success stories too much though do we? If a believer demands that I, as a non-believer, observe his taboos in the public domain, he is not asking for my respect but for my submission. And that is incompatible with a secular democracy. Yesterday I went on a reporting spree because what took place was way out of line. Exactly right. It the situation calls for it it should be reported. For the record: I did not report Derek despite him calling me names because he was making some substantial points besides the name calling. Had he not been making any other points besides calling me an "asshole" etc then I certainly would have reported him. Argus Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 IThere are those who seem to be here only to incite, insult and aggravate. Their criticisms of anyone are easily dismissed. And yet, you appear to spend an inordinate amount of time insulting everyone who disagrees with you on a wide variety of subjects, usually from on high, standing upon a pedestal with nose raised as you proclaim to to us all how much superior you consider yourself to be. He called me a "stupid shit" yet the post still stands. How is that different than Shady's post when spazzed out at BC_Chick, which is now gone?

bush_cheney2004 Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 What kind of trolling was it? Beats me....Charles sent me this message that challenged my sincerity and interest concerning Trudeau's visit to my country: Your 2nd post was taken down because it is nothing but drive-by snark. If you are not interested in discussing the topic, then do not post. Bullshit well-wishes and calls for attention belong in the Dear Abby collumn of SOME OTHER publication. Economics trumps Virtue.
msj Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 He called me a "stupid shit" yet the post still stands. How is that different than Shady's post when spazzed out at BC_Chick, which is now gone? I don't know. If the post was not reported then the mods probably were too busy dealing with Shady's stuff to deal with it, maybe? And then I come along and allegedly walk a fine line with my resurrection of the "dead thread" as I call it - I can just imagine Derek reporting my post.... The_Squid Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 As was said to me the other day in answer to a nearly identical question: "patience is a virtue" They already changed Derek's pictures that he posted afterwards.... you'd think the Mods would have dealt with his previous post at the same time... I'm thinking they will leave that one up... they probably thought I incited the "stupid shit" name-calling because I called his analogy "stupid". But comparing what you say at a funeral to what we post on an internet political forum really is stupid.

BC_chick Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 He called me a "stupid shit" yet the post still stands. How is that different than Shady's post when spazzed out at BC_Chick, which is now gone? Yeah, that was very similar to Shady's meltdown. Totally unprovoked. BTW Shady's post wasn't removed, the whole thread got locked but that post (#41) is still there. It's kind of the worst thing that any humans could be doing at this time in human history. poochy Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 I wonder if the poster who referred to KImmy as a muppet received similar attention
The_Squid Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) Oh... if they don't take down the insulting posts, then I have nothing to complain about. I assumed they took down ridiculous posts like that, considering they took down BC_2004's recent post, which was pretty tame (no personal insults) compared to the melt downs! Very inconsistent.... Yeah, it was surprising to see Derek's modified post this morning but the personal insults still intact. They have yet to say anything about yesterday so who knows what's going on. bush_cheney2004 Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 The Mods called it trolling.... "lame-ass trolling" to be exact. To be more precise, the message called my legitimate post a "lame-ass attempt to hide trolling", as if I failed to adequately hide trolling. Does this mean I need to do a better job at hiding "trolling", which was never my intent ? Interesting.... Economics trumps Virtue.
