It's not a joke - I don't feel that any leader, no matter their political leaning, should be denigrated. It's not good for positive discussion.

Then why have you repeatedly referred to such leaders as "idiot" (McGuinty, Obama, Trump, etc.) ?

Why have the rules changed for Justin Trudeau ?

Finding examples where we missed something doesn't shed any light onto the situation. This is a pretty straightforward question, and - again - with a new PM in office, and the US presidential election kicked off now, it's hard to see why there's any interest at all in this topic.

Perhaps I grew up (though I recall being a fan of McGuinty)?

Oh, and Trump is. If he becomes president, or even the nominee, I'll give him the respect he deserves.

Because clearly there has been a reset on what is/is not permitted. It is unclear what the election process in a foreign country has to do with this matter on a "Canadian" forum.

No reset. Unreported posts from 6 years ago aren't proof of anything. If you see something that runs afoul of the rules report it.

I know I corrected many posts where Harper was misspelled in my time here.

No.....I prefer to report somethings that clearly demonstrates political bias with forum "rules".

Witch hunt?

So Harper and Bush got plenty of personal insults that were "missed".....but Trudeau gets very alert personal protection. Got it.

Let's just see how it plays out during Trudeau's tenure.....methinks the "miss" rate will go down.

I think that it's difficult to draw conclusions like that.

We have now a more active moderator in MH. I think he does a good job even if I don't always agree with him.

CA is an anarchist, so I don't see him defending Trudeau.

Greg is lost in time and space somewhere.

Kimmy is far from a Liberal, though she wasn't a Harper supporter (and yes, I know she's only a facilitator, but whatever).

My point is that circumstances have changed. You can't use historical forum policing as a judge.

I don't care what the excuses are....if the "policing" is biased, it will be obvious.

I think your perception of bias will depend completely on your particular bias. You aren't some kind of impartial judge, no matter what your self perception may be.

No perception required...just this forum engine's search feature.

I'm surprised no one has coined the name Hooper given how hooped the Cons were in the end...so to speak.

If you want to ignore context that's fine. I'm not sure what exactly it's going to gain you, though.

Like I said, this feels a lot more like a witch hunt aimed at MH than anything.

Your feelings are of no concern to me....another member asked a direct question about this disparity and doublespeak was the answer.

And your feelings obviously aren't of concern to the moderators (or most others, for that matter) - yet here we are.

So, Now that we Justin Trudeau as PM, the moderating will be tighter than when Harper was in power? What a strange coincidence!

Yeah what gives? Is there some new time-to-be-nice PC-like movement I'm unaware of? Notice how even Parliament is trying to clean up it's act these days.

I think it's pretty hilarious after 15 years of being likened to a bunch of mass murdering commies for my views I stand to be banned the next time I refer to some bigot as a racist.

Bait your hooks I guess.

apparently, given the flurry of subsequent posts since yours, someone is really, really miffed that my '6-year old' transgression can still be found using MLW search capabilities. I did mention I've received warnings in the past about improper name use for certain politicians - clearly this did not quell the fueled fires of indignation.

in case you didn't see my post, I also thought it pertinent to introduce a reference to MLW rules to ensure more complete understanding among MLW members as to what, by rule definition, is acceptable practice in how, for example, politicians are named. Your reply to that post is most anticipated:

Trudeau "Jr" is more often intended as an insult than not, often combined with sneering references to his public persona, lack of experience, "privileged" background. If "good faith" usage were accurate then the Jr would only be added when there was clear need to differentiate between Pierre and Justin. Since Pierre is dead, that need would be minimal. The moderating team may have decided not to penalize usage, fine by me, but to claim "good faith" usage seems disingenuous to me.

lol no kidding, eh? This whole thing started because the mods said it was fair play to refer to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as "Junior," despite he not being a junior at all.
