To WWWTT - I have some experience in monitoring a web page and would never do it again for free. I found it to be like being a referee in a sandbox with many of the participants stretching the envelope to test the limits. There are some very angry and disturbed individuals out there who have found anonymous opinion boards as their perfect cover - say what you want but not be accountable for the content.

I do not nor will I make a report on anyone because I am quite capable of ignoring stupid people. If I feel it is getting to a point where I am no longer gaining any benefit or enjoyment from the process then I move on.

I will make suggestions if asked and have done so.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

This is why I would like to have everyone's account linked with their real name and info. maybe like link it to a real facebook account or something. I know a lot of people here would be too afraid to do that but I'm not. I have nothing to hide. I don't care if people here knew who I was in real life. I am unafraid.

So who are you? :D

Some guy on this site once threatened to track me down and attack me. I would just as soon hang on to my anonymity, if you don't mind.

No such thing as stupid people.

Pretty much says moderating isn't for you if you're going to make a comment like this.

What the hell happened to this thread?!?!?!?!?!?!

This thread is about the feeble moderation of the moderators!

We're supposed to be discussing/debating that in this thread!

Can you guys move your debate about who's got the most cheesy idioms/sayings to another thread??!?!?!?!?!

Lets get back to ripping the skin off the moderators so that they can stay on their toes and do their job right!

Thank you!

I think one of the problems is there's no rule against wacko postings. Maybe there should be a rule that if your post is so inane and stupid people can't help mock and ridicule it - and you - that you be suspended instead of them.

Hmmm, let's hope you aren't the one to judge the posts.

You post a wacko status update and then say people should be suspended for saying wacko things?

I don't post anything wacko. Maybe it was just too deep for you.

I guess its subjective......what might seem normal to the likes of you or I could seem "wacko" to another...

My suggestions:

1) Create a forum dedicated for random comments and trolling. Moderators can move off-topic talks/discussions to that forum.

2) Relaxed the rules in the forums. Moderation is the key whether it swearing (f-word, a-word), posting gifs, trolling (this will always exist in some degree from mild to extreme), insulting language (cons, libs, dips, greenies and so on). Of course some things will always be a firm no such as porn posting, advertising other forums, libel, racism, etc.

@ Greg, the question is....are you focusing on what you want more of or what you want less of?

Would I be correct in assuming you are referring to the recent wako Mike Brown update?

He probably hasn't seen video of protestors marching in malls.

It must have been terrifying for you, seeing that video.

This forum is full of too many religious nutbars and whacko rightwing individuals. More diversity is needed here.

This is good example of how leftist resort to ad-homs when faced with opinions which they disagree with. The "religious nutbars" part is bizarre since I cannot think of a single active poster who fits into that category unless you include the various anti-israel bigots. Edited by TimG

I think many assume that because we're conservative, it must be because we're religious. Aside from my view on crime I hold no social conservative views.

Why would it be scary, other than how many people went through the public school system without having any viable brain matter?

I found this interesting.

We define "trolling" as a message that serves no constructive purpose and is likely to cause offence or arguments. We define "annoying" as any message that results in a complaint from a registered user -- we will then decide whether to take action.

Trolling is very hard to define. Basically trolling is someone that's being provocative on purpose. But some could call that being the Devil's advocate too.

The only way to "sorta" prove that someone is trolling is to see if their IP matches that of another poster, but what if someone spoofs their IP?

I don't know if posters on this site use multiple handles, but I suspect many do. There are too many that only debate single issues and only for a short period of time. That's Trolling.

All theoretical. There's a working definition in the rules. That's really all that matters. This is what they've defined trolling as for the purposes of this website.

It's utterly irrelevant though because the last line is clear: we will decide (regardless of the definition).
