This story happened last week. Would anyone hazard a guess as to why it was deemed prudent to not tell American citizens, on the eve of an election, of such an escalation?

Because it was a conspiracy. Don't you know it's always a conspiracy? Libya wasn't an attack on Americans, it was a Democratic scandal by Americans. The polls were rigged for Obama, and even though they proved accurate in the end, that was just because the conspiracy worked. Same with the Jobs reports.

Obama has been conspiratorial since he was a baby in Kenya, plotting his war on Christmas. I'm surprised you even had to ask.

it's a non-event...if americans flew drones into Iranian airspace Iran can shoot them down and the US has nothing to complain about, it's not even an escalation of tension....no wars are going to be started over shooting down spy planes, ain't gonna happen...

If Iran and the US go to war it will bring Russia and China into the conflict siding with Iran which will lead to a world war.

fantasy...there will be no world wars over Iranian nuclear technology...

Ya this is a no brainer actually.

I predicted months ago that the republicans were trying to make something out of nothing to try and win political points.

I wouldn't be surprised if these things happen on a more frequent basis and we just don't here about it more often.

The US is always challenging the military capabilities of other countries all the time and these other countries do the same with the US.

Same old same old.

highly doubt that, neither country will risk a major war in order to protect Iran just like Russia will not go to war to protect Syria.

1. It was an unarmed recon drone.

2. It was in international territory.

3. Two Iranian Su-25s couldn't shoot it down...but, they did fire missiles at it and missed. Not a good day for Iranian air defenses.

Well, I think my stance on Iran is well known, but when it comes to foreign drones entering their airspace, I think they have every right to shoot at them.

It wasn't in Iranian airspace...thus the problem.

Oh, didn't realize.

Still, doesn;t seem like a big deal, it's an unmanned drone...

If your top-shelf Sovie...errrr sorry...Russian Su-25 can't shoot down an unarmed drone doing lazy-8s over the Gulf, it's time to complain to the manufacturer.

We can revisit the drone that the US flew over Iran in which Iran was able to hack into it and land it. Who needs to fire anything when there are known flaws in the GPS system prone to hacking, that controls the drones?

Then Obama asked ' um can we have it back?', which the Iran response was 'lol'.

I agree this incident in itself is not a big deal. But the danger here is how intent mal-actors like the US and Iran are on provoking each other, and the possibility that their idiocy could drag the rest of us into war.

Too bad....if there is to be war then there will be war. It's not like it has never happened before. Canada was never "dragged" into a war. Name the last war Mexico was "dragged" into.

Top shelf? You're talking about aircraft that are more than 30 years old and designed for a ground attack role.

So is the A-10 Warthog.

Again...this says A LOT about Iran's approach to air defense. These Frogfoot(s)* were liberated from Saddam's air force, to boot. Perhaps, to be fair, the drone could have waited until some later model interceptors arrived.
