Guest Derek L Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 If your top-shelf Sovie...errrr sorry...Russian Su-25 can't shoot down an unarmed drone doing lazy-8s over the Gulf, it's time to complain to the manufacturer. Well the Frogfoot was intended to engage NATO helicopters……..and the flight profile of a Predator will be closer to that of a helicopter then a conventional aircraft………This goes to show the limitations of Russian IR missiles versus it’s stealthish features. Apparently they tried to knock it down with the cannon. But, they still should have bagged it. It wasn't a Buzz-Bomb doing 450 kts. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

I doubt the Iranian Frogfoots had been upgraded with a more digital HUD, as such they’d share much the same gun/bomb sight (Earlier ASP-17) as the early Su-17/22s and MIG-23s………..Overly engineered and complex and intended for rearranging mud……….A Capitalist-pig-dog-whore of a helicopter that may get in it’s way was a secondary consideration..........In other words, they’d have been better off slewing the aircraft so the IR seeker heads on their missiles could have got a sniff. DogOnPorch Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Either way...sending A-10s on an intercept mission wouldn't be getting you that promotion anytime soon. So I'm not sure what was going on with the Iranian FAC that day. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

They're Saddam's aircraft...11 apparently that ran for cover pre-shock n' awe or something like that. The Iranians viewed them as gifts. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

The gear is getting pretty mix n' match in that part of the globe. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
