bush_cheney2004 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Here is a good article on this issue: http://www.cbc.ca/ne...neighbours.html Yes...I read Macdonald on a regular basis and he is usually pretty fair minded. That piece is a cute play off of the 2004 threats by Democrats to move Canada way after a Bush victory. The facts show that more Canadians actually move to the U.S. each year, for a variety of reasons. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bush_cheney2004 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 You may want to update your "facts": http://www.ctvnews.c...-north-1.875578 OK...but on average for the past 20 years, more Canadians have moved south, including the famous "brain drain". My "facts" are based on US immigration numbers by country. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
bleeding heart Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 OK...but on average for the past 20 years, more Canadians have moved south, including the famous "brain drain". My "facts" are based on US immigration numbers by country. Yes, when the American economy is booming, people will flock there. But currently, the numbers have skewed the other way. Perhaps it's a temporary phenomenon. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. bush_cheney2004 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 The U.S. has about ten times the population of Canada, but still has a larger net gain of Canadians, and many other nationals as well. I posted earlier that in 2006, more people emigrated to the U.S. than to all other countries combined according to a Wiki source. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Guest American Woman Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Here's an interesting difference between Canada and the U.S. - evidently Tim Horton's isn't as successful in the States as it is in Canada. What will it take for more Americans to get time for Tim Hortons? http://o.canada.com/...ons/#tims_truck Quote
cybercoma Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 That's because Tim Hortons sucks. Quote

bleeding heart Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 It hardly seems like coffee at all to me...rather, some coffee-related, flavoured hot drink. dre Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 This is true. When traveling abroad, people can't tell a Canadian from an American - unless there's a Maple Leaf on one's backpack. Even within our own countries we can't tell the difference - no one knows that I'm an American when I'm in Canada unless it comes up. Mostly true, although a lot of Americans have a pretty distinct accent and some Canadians to as well. She's only saying that we are roughly indistinguishable, within our own respective countries as well as without. My own experience inclines me to agree. I agree except I can spot a fair ammount of Americans by their accent, and some Canadians as well. Quote I question things because I am human. Guest Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Ding ding ding! It sure does, worst coffee around, rivals Starbucks for that ! No, I won't have that! Horton's might suck, but Starbuck's is my staple. Of course, I make it myself. Actually, I doubt that the stuff Horton's sells is actually coffee. It can be quite refreshing when one is in the mood, but I don't think it's coffee. Quote
