Tarring a whole people with the shortcomings of your brother does.

Try it:

I don't like Chinese, they are b*******s

I don't like Arabs, they are b*******s

I don't like Muslims, they are b*******s

I don't like Brazilians, they are b*******s

I don't like Americans, they are b*******s

No difference.

you have a vivid imagination far out of touch with reality in order to make a leap of logic like that....

By the way, it's not America that Canadians don't like: it's Americans.

of course...

disliking buttholes isn't racism...

I don't think any of the above are actually races.

I'd wager most Canadians like some Americans and dislike others, even if they don't admit it either way.

I dunno I'm pretty sure Detroit and Buffalo would still be horrible if evacuated.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends. Enjoy the day, get plenty of sleep, theres shopping to be had at 5 am tomorrow

Thank you, guyser. :) I've had my fill of turkey, ham, stuffing, pumpkin cheesecake, and wine - and I definitely did enjoy the day - but there will be no 5 am shopping! I like to go for a ride early in the morning and laugh at all the people standing in line. Black Friday online shopping has already started .... and if you ask me, that's the way to go!

Kinda narrows down the whole racism thing, then. Not as much of it about as was previously thought.

Black Friday: The day where people are trampled to death for a cheap Blu-Ray player just one day after being thankful for what they have. :)

No need to get trampled - Amazon will match anyone's prices with free shipping.

We have our version of Faux Black Friday up here. The wife and her pals are looking at ways of skipping work to attend.

Hope they were successful - in ditching work and finding good bargains!! :)

Hey...dont be dissing on my beloved Buffalo.

Detroit will rise again....someday, and probably soon.

People who speak that way are speaking in general stereotypes (ie: ignorance) - and don't really know the cities for all that they have to offer.

True...I wonder if Amazon.ca and eBay are additional reasons Canadians love America. In theory, Canadian shoppers would have access to products not readily available "north of the border". Of course, they probably still get gouged on taxes and shipping.

Economics trumps Virtue.

It is a generalization for sure, but from extensive experience. Every city has something to offer, unfortunately most of what Buffalo and Detroit offer isn't very nice. Every country has some not so nice places...ever been to Windsor Ontario?? Colbert called it "the earth's rectum" for a reason.

Treu and I bet Colbert has bever been to Gary Indiana.

As a generalization, Gary is ...well....skip right past it and go to Chicago. Dont stop...ever.

My idea of lousy cities are predicated on them having money and still being a dump.

Buffalo and Detroit dont fit that bill. Buff had a high pop of 800,000 and now less than half that due to the rust belt mfg'ing going away. Thats a huge drop in revenue to run a city.

Detroit much the same, but I would place a lot of Detroits problems on the elected officials, some of whom are the worst of the worst. Kwame Kilpatrick makes that crackhead DC Mayor look good in comparison. Detroit tagged too much to the auto, but look beneath the veneer there are a ton of gorgeous spots and buildings in downtown detroit. Sadly derelict now, b ut still stunning architecture. Same goes for Buffalo. Those old barons sure knew how to build gorgeous spots.

Yes, some of the old buildings are certainly grand. Unfortunately, being surrounded by abandoned structures covered in graffiti with broken windows and damaged facades gives the impression of Baghdad minus the heat.
