overthere Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 The Jays got Tulo and Price for 6 prospects. No one is going to give the Jays what they need to win now for Bautista. The Mets are the only exception. They have great pitching but can't hit. The Cubs, Royals and Giants are also teams that are contenders and need power hitting. Bautista is also a good fielder, so he would be useful to a NL team- not the usual hit-only end-of-career mutt. The Jays gave up much of their future pitching in these two trades. Hope it works out for them. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
Boges Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 They got another reliever. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/report-jays-moving-closer-to-deal-for-mark-lowe/ Bullpen looks pretty stacked right now. Hawkins, Sanchez and Osuna look to be a lockdown 7, 8, 9 combo. Cecil has been pitching very well as well. Quote
Boges Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) They got a Left Fielder too, apparently. Ben Revere from the Phillies. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/report-blue-jays-to-acquire-outfielder-ben-revere/ .300 hitter that will replace Reyes as leadoff hitter. Has to field better than Collabello. Edited July 31, 2015 by Boges Quote
overthere Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 Revere hits left, which matters in a lineup full of right hand bats. And he is a defensive upgrade. Guess they have more or less given up on Michael Saunders for this year. One thing that has really changed for the Jays is the strength of their bench. Potential DH or pinch hitters- Encarnacion, Navarro, Smoak, Valencia, Colabello and the versatile Carrera. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
Boges Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 Valencia and Carrera got DFA'd. They'll have to clear waivers. Watching Lowe Crap the bed in his debut. Quote
overthere Posted August 2, 2015 Report Posted August 2, 2015 It is astonishing they would let Valencia go, he is a versatile guy having a fine season albeit in a limited role. And keep Kawasaki? WTF? The bullpen is not 'stacked'. It has improved to 'average'. That might be enough. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

Big news today will be Sanchez getting tossed for hitting a guy after Donaldson got a ball thrown at his head TWICE! Quote
Boges Posted August 2, 2015 Report Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) 3/4 against the Royals is pretty good. So Donaldson takes a ball to the back in the first and the Ump gives a warning. In the 7th another Royals pitcher hits Tulo in the forearm, almost injuring him and then throws at Donaldson's head. Gibby gets thrown out but not the pitcher. Next inning Sanchez lets a fastball get away from him and hits a Royal. Gets thrown out and the benches clear. That was some certifiable BS from the Royals and the home plate ump. Edited August 2, 2015 by Boges Quote
overthere Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 The first inning warning was stupid as are all these warnings. The ump created his own mess. The best takeaway for me is the return to form of Dickey over the last few games he has started. If he can keep it up, Price is as advertised, and Buehrle, Estrada and Hutchinson pitch for average....... The hitting of Tulo was an accident, Madson is a vet and knew there was no point to hitting him. The high hard one to Donaldson was deliberate, intended to throw him off his game and it worked perfectly. The Sanchez incident was deliberate, and could have easily cost the Jays the game. Zobrist made it 3-2 after that, getting two RBIs when he should not have even come to the plate. The Royals nearly gamed the Jays into a loss.. Baseball 'fights' are pussy affairs. Boges Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 I don't think Sanchez hit him on purpose. David Price was as advertised today. Jays are tied for the WC spot now. 3 games on the road against the Yankees this coming weekend. The Jays have every opportunity to win this division. Quote
Big Guy Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 I fell off the Blue Jays Band Wagon a little while ago when the band was sounding out of tune. A few new players and the tunes they are playing are sounding a lot better. I have just decided to jump back on the Band Wagon and ride it to the end of the parade. WestCoastRunner Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) The blue jays played out here against the Mariners last weekend. They had a strong Canadian crowd cheering them on. Border time waits were 2 hours. They only won one game but all 3 games were close and very entertaining. They put on a good show for us living on the west coast and I'm sure they were appreciative of the Canadians in the stands. Minnesota, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New York. The Raptors too as their seen as National teams almost. Quote

Two out in the eighth inning, two run lead, nobody on base and Osuna ready to go in the bullpen.. He even nailed him low on the body, which is correct protocol for retaliation beanings.. He even nailed him low on the body, which is correct protocol for retaliation beanings.. The League thinks so. Sanchez got 3 games. Which is BS since the Royals started it. He's appealing so he got to setup last night. It should suck if he has to serve the suspension during the upcoming Yankee series. BTW the Sanchez-Osuna combo seems as effective as Ward-Henke in the early 90's. Jays are 6-1 since Tulo joined the team. Edited August 5, 2015 by Boges Quote
overthere Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 3 games seems excessive to me. I'm not surprised that Gibbons got suspended, but thought he'd get more. He'd been kicked out of the game already and returned to the field for the fake fight. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
Boges Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) Hutch must be the worst 10-2 pitcher ever. Good thing he won't be pitching against the Yankees. Another start like that and they should begin to look at letting Aaron Sanchez take his spot. Good thing they were facing a rookie pitcher. Bullpen looked really good though. Boges Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 They just swept the Yankees in New York. Only gave up on emails run all weekend. Guess their pitching isn't bad afterall. Quote

Boges Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) They may have just purchased another World Series win. If by purchase you mean giving up 12 prospects, then sure. AA did not build this team by buying Free Agents with precious Rogers dollars. Edited August 10, 2015 by Boges Quote
