Topaz Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 The Ottawa media has just found out that Tories plan on spending half a BILLION in construction of what the Tories are calling a military satellite, the Wide band Global Satcom Network, is to protect Canada's businesses from Cyber attacks. The US Maj-Gen Susan Mashiko, in charge, said its for faster communications with the troops on the battlefield and the Canadian DND spokesman said it was a communication network. The tories didn't have this on the future DND list or the DND space programs and the opposition parties will be asking a lot of questions as to why? Can you hear Baird and McKay standing up giving reasons?? So does this have to do with the Perimeter issue around North America, or the F-35 that has no communications in the North or it is the cost are getting too much for the US and Canada has voluntary to help pay for this like the new bridge across the Detroit River or the billion they let the US forestry keep. Under the Tories, how long do we have to wait until our debt is in the trillions and Canada goes under and we other secrets are they keeping??? http://www.ottawacitizen.com/technology/Military%2Bsatellite%2Bproject%2Bsparks%2Bsecrecy%2Bconcerns/5741711/story.html Quote

Shwa Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 It seems like the contract was awarded to a Canadian company. So the US, saying, hey WTF, if you are going to use this, and we're awarding some of this to a Canadian company, how about kicking in a bit of change? So the Canadian government, seeing that a decent chunk of that change is going to be spread around the economy, went, sure man, here's half a bill. Stimulus comes in many forms. As for the secrecy, well, cat's out of the bag now innit? Quote

GostHacked Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 No problem, we can spend a billion on a new satellite, but not a billion to improve the country's infrastructure or health care, or education system or or or or ...... Quote
Shwa Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 No problem, we can spend a billion on a new satellite, but not a billion to improve the country's infrastructure or health care, or education system or or or or ...... Well to be fair, it is half a billion. And to add, we already spend billions on infrastructure, health care and education. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) Canada already benefits from satellite infrastructure disproportionately to the amount invested, as do many other free riders. Canada spends 6.3% of our GDP on Defense ( based on 30 bil) , 17.9 on Health care, 12.7 on Education, and some 30 % or more on Infra struture.... Sorry what was the question again. PIK Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 I laugh at all the anti harperites, they are simple hilarious, especially on a monday morning. Harper could have a plan to give everyone a million dollars, and the same posters would be out screamimg. I laugh at the idea where some of these libs think that iggy in charge would be doing a lot better job, the libs can't even run a party let along a country in very difficult times. I am glad harper is getting things done, and not wasting time with the complainers. Life is good. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Argus Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Another example of a lack of accountability by the fascist thugs running this country... I have a feeling if you heard Harper had picked a flower you'd be on here within ten minutes raging about 'fascist thugs' despoiling the environment. Talk about a one-trick pony. Or you'll find your selfs spending massive amounts to bring those dept up to current standards...like we did with DND...which was near the piont of collaspe...
