Boges Posted October 16, 2013 Author Report Posted October 16, 2013 It's fine to debate about it. Getting out shot that bad is definitely something that needs to be addressed. What bugs me, and this goes for all sports debates, is when people predict something like the Leafs collapse because 2 years ago they did. There's no evidence this team will crumple like Ron Wilson's and Burkie's team did 2 years ago. Speaking of your Oil BD, I heard on the radio that the Oilers maybe inquiring about Reimer. Give up Eberle for him? :-D Quote

It's more that any team that rides the percentages like the Leafs are tend to come back to earth eventually.' Speaking of your Oil BD, I heard on the radio that the Oilers maybe inquiring about Reimer. Give up Eberle for him? :-D I'd rather they see what they can find for free before giving up any assets for a G. Bryz and Theodore for example won't cost anything but money. Only way I part with any of the Big Five is for a legitimate top pairing defender: a Subban, Weber, OEL, Karlsson type. Quote

Give up Eberle for him? :-D Yep, the Leafs need to improve their puck possession, and lessen their turnovers. I think Clarkson and Kulemin will help with puck posession when they get back. Their discipline needs to be better too. One of the reasons they were outshot so badly, is that they were killing penalties for almost half of the first period. Quote
Black Dog Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Yes, but I find it sad that you're so invested in the Leafs downfall all for a bit of schadenfreude. Anyways, why can't this be a jerk off about the Leafs thread? They're 6 - 0 - 1 right now. When they lose, there'll be less jerking off. Besides, you already have your lets jerk off about Rob Ford thread. Can't you leave this one alone? No more than than you can stay out of the Ford threads. Though at least I'm bringing some actual on-topic material to this thread. Quote

Boges Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 I heard about that last week on the radio on the Fan 590. It's not like real Leaf fans can afford to go to games anyway so most won't notice. Quote

Black Dog Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Yikes. Even I felt bad for Leafs after watching this (for about 10 seconds) Quote

Boges Posted October 23, 2013 Author Report Posted October 23, 2013 Kessel Hat Trick was a good way to get the Leafs off the losing streak. The Ducks were 7-1. Had anyone said the Leafs would get out of the Clarkson suspension 7-3 everyone would have taken that. Quote

Right now they're way too up and down. Quote
Shady Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Oh don't be such a baby. That was hilarious. What wasn't hilarious is one red calling icing, while another ref waves it off while Bernier has his back turned. Quote

They do struggle with Carolina for some reason though. Quote
Boges Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) They completely crap the bed against Columbus then put in, perhaps, their best performance of the year the next night against The Crosby Show. The last two games Reimer started, where he didn't get run over by a teammate and pulled from the game 30 seconds in, he's most certainly been the more impressive goalie of the two. He should start against the Oilers on Tuesday. Edited October 28, 2013 by Boges Quote
guyser Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 I was really surprised that Reimer didnt the get the Fri night Columbus start . When he got it Sat night I thought that Caralyle made a smart move. I was sure that it would be the other way around Quote
kimmy Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 We in Canada often talk about the "brain drain". Is it real? Is it a myth? Is it overhyped? Oh, it's real. And never has Canada been harder hit by the brain drain than by the loss of Jay Onrait to Fox Sports. "YOU'RE A LOOSE CANNON, Bobrovsky! Boges Posted October 29, 2013 Author Report Posted October 29, 2013 It shows the irrelevance of highlight shows in the internet age that I have never once seen him do that. Going to the US is the dream of any broadcaster because that's where the money is. That being said, Jay and Dan did go and join a start-up sport network. All the 4 main US Networks now have cable sports networks. Obviously ABC's ESPN is the Holy Grail. Fox Sports One is a new player in the game. Interestingly the least profile cable sports network, CBS Sports Network, is the only one that's actually available in Canada. Quote

Boges Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 That's more like it. 4-nil on the road against the Oilers. Reimer might actually win this job. Will the Oilers ever be good again? Quote
guyser Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Will the Oilers ever be good again? Very very soon they should be. They will give up one of their stars to get a good goalie, hopefully a decent defenceman and they should then start to soar. Quote
guyser Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 Yawn, another win! Cant keep winning by getting outshot. But for now thats ok I guess. Quote

sharkman Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Hey, you know what? I hope the Leafs aren't a bunch of whining cheap shot artists, because that's about all they are tonight against the Canucks, who are classy by comparison. Quote
