Why is that our problem? A bunch of people don't like their leader? So? Let them get rid of him - or not. If that's our business why isn't it our business to go into Ivory Coast? Or Darfur?

Because instability in North Africa will have rather direct effects on Europe. In particular, France, Spain and Italy could be flooded with a few million refugees in very short order.

Don't forget that Ghaddafi is also a loud spoken opponent of Israel. It wouldn't surprise me to see him pull the same stunt Saddam Hussein pulled during the Gulf War, and send missiles into Israel, so Israel will retaliate, thus gaining him sympathy with the Arab world. (It didn't work for Saddam, but with Ghaddafi, ya never know).

I have captured the rare duct taped platypus.

I mean, Saddam Hussein killed a helluva lot of his own people, gassing Kurds and the like, and yet that invasion was declared as an evil American imperialistic operation.

It was at least as stupid, and face it America is as guilty as Hussein when it comes to the people he gassed.

Some day someone will have to explain to me how the same people who thought that invading Iraq was bad (putting aside the extraordinary incompetence of the post-invasion period), and yet are casting condemnation on the United States for not going into Libya sooner.

Your first mistake is assuming these really are the same people. I think the damned Yankees should go home, stay there and STFU.

Yet Canada is at war...again. How do you explain this better than just blaming meddling Yankees? C'mon peacemongers....you got some 'splaining to do! ;)

Eyeball is exceptionally good and handwringing. Not much else, mind you, but as handwringers go, he's the best.

I'm sure you would have been one of those people saying the same thing when Roosevelt was trying to cajole the US into battling the Axis Powers.

Guys,

The level of discourse here is slipping. Please avoid personal attacks, tone down the rhetoric and be civil.

Because the US didn't bomb Germany for exporting chemicals to Saddam??

So why are they asked by Europeans and the UN to help everywhere? Whether Africa or Balkans. Why the UN and Europeans don't fix it themself?

Again...the USA did not supply the precursors for Saddam's chemical weapons program. They provided insecticides and pesticides for Iraq's agricultural efforts which Saddam tried to turn into a weapon.

The rebel force attacks Gadaffi, people killed by the rebel force.

Gadaffi want them stop, they didn't, Gadaffi attacked the rebel force.

Western nations ask Gadaffi stop attacking rebel force. Gadaffi didn't Western nation attacked Gadaffi and attacked Libya people there.

Western nations are same as Gadaffi. Western nations politicians never believe peace, never believe democracy, they are dictators they want others do what they asked, they believe nothing but power.

They blame other nations have no freedom, have no human rights, have no democracy, they abuse their own peaceful people in their own nation like what they did during G20. Can they themselves tolerate a rebel force in their own country attack the government?

Actually, Western nation politicians are more evil than Gadaffi, because the rebel in Libya is supported by the western nations. So it is obvious that it is the western nations who started this war and blame others, just as they always did.

They use their powerful media to filter out all the information that people die under western nations fire and the rebel's fire. They blame everything for Gadaffi by misleading information in the mainstream media. In this way they fooled people in their own nations, and control the public opinion and votes. For the people who understand the real truth, they arrested them if they go peaceful protest just like what they did in G20.

Anyone who support attack Libya is equal to an evil murder.

This is about as huge a distortion of what happened as one can imagine. The Libyans were simply trying to overthrow a tyrant just like the Tunisians and the Egyptians, and who could blame them, the man was a monster, his kids were monsters who were going to run the regime just like the old man.

What is your bizarre need to defend the guy?

Anyone who support attack Libya is equal to an evil murder.

And with that, folks, I think we can see just who William is.

Well, that’s funny because after a 2 minute google search I found this:

The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs has oversight responsibility for the Export Administration Act. Pursuant to the Act, Committee staff contacted the U.S. Department of Commerce and requested information on the export of biological materials during the years prior to the Gulf War. After receiving this information, we contacted a principal supplier of these materials to determine what, if any, materials were exported to Iraq which might have contributed to an offensive or defensive biological warfare program. Records available from the supplier for the period from 1985 until the present show that during this time, pathogenic (meaning "disease producing"), toxigenic (meaning "poisonous"), and other biological research materials were exported to Iraq pursuant to application and licensing by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Records prior to 1985 were not available, according to the supplier. These exported biological materials were not attenuated or weakened and were capable of reproduction…

These nasty chemicals were included.

Bacillus Anthracis, Clostridium Botulinum, Histoplasma Capsulatum, Brucella Melitensis, and Clostridium Perfringens

This is especially interesting: "It was later learned," the committee revealed, "that these microorganisms exported by the United States were identical to those the United Nations inspectors found and removed from the Iraqi biological warfare program."

Yup...all used in raising livestock if I'm not mistaken. Industrial solvents for the oil industry which were used in mustard gas production, as well.

The Libyans were simply trying to overthrow a tyrant just like the Tunisians and the Egyptians...

But not Bahrain? We're allied with the Arab League in support of freedom-fighters in Libya while the same Arab League rushes to support the suppression of freedom-fighting in Bahrain. The sheer chutzpah and hypocrisy is phenomenal. What unutterably ugly times we live in.

This sort of moral dissonance is high octane gasoline to radical Islam.

Humanity has truly taken a hard turn towards the surreal.
