DrGreenthumb Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Its kinda sick that military recruiters target children. They show up at schools in the US and in the last few years theyve been heavily targetting young gamers. The US military actually developed and sold an FPS a few years ago with the purpose of recruiting children. The Harper Conservatives are just as bad if not worse. They have had military recruiters visit my kids elementry school twice in the past year. They handed out costume jewellry with armed forces insignia, and showed films glorifying the killing of Afghans. My kids came home talking about how cool it was how the soldiers used night vision scopes to kill. Quote
GostHacked Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 CIV 4 takes up a whole weekend sometimes. My last battle was a large Pangea with two AIs. I took Japan and got crushed both times. Then I took Germany which I usually can conquer, but alas not this time. Currently trying a game as American. The other two AIs are now warring and I am just building up my shit untill the bigger once decides to start looking at me. This one is gonna get REAL ugly fast. Good thing I invested in a lot of research early on. One of the most complicated games to play. Quote Google : Webster Griffin Tarpley, Gerald Celente, Max Keiser ohm on soundcloud.com
betsy Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 I just finished Suikoden IV, and now starting an old Arc The Lad. I'm more into RPG and Strategy/RPG. Quote
Bonam Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Its kinda sick that military recruiters target children. They show up at schools in the US and in the last few years theyve been heavily targetting young gamers. The US military actually developed and sold an FPS a few years ago with the purpose of recruiting children. Why is that sick? The military is an important part of the US, its culture, its economy, and military officers have a high social standing and command respect, and also benefit financially. It is not like they are being cruelly tricked into some horrible life. Moreover, no one is forced or brainwashed into joining, they all can make their own choice, and must do so at an age where they are considered to be capable of making choices. I see absolutely nothing wrong with advertising the military and what it has to offer in schools and in games. Quote

GostHacked Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 It free...not for sale. http://www.americasarmy.com/ I used to play that quite a bit. Only map I ever really played was Bridge. Usually I'd take the .50 cal and hide in the trees. My pal who is up near the center radios in ' could you massage the stairs to the right please ..... I aim the best I could through the fog ... ' A little more to the right and few degrees up' ratatatatatatatatatat ..'yeah that's the ticket'. They have updated the graphics and not sure if they are using the same game engine (I think it's the Unreal engine) Also right now getting through FEAR2, picked it up through Steam this past weekend along with the Cyan package (Myst, Riven Uru and a couple others) realMyst is quite nice, from a point a click static images to a flowing 3D environment. DogOnPorch Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Players of ESIV Oblivion who'd like a bit of a thrill beyond the vanilla would do well to try this very well made mod. This will give even a 55th level god-like character + companions a run for their money. Vampire Hunting: Order of the Virtuous Blood (Note: the vanilla quest Order of the Virtuous Blood must be completed before activating this mod) Be sure to add a vampire mod that reverses the effects of vampirism such as this one (there are several others). Bethesda did it bass-ackwards for some PC reason. Numerous other vampy mods can be added beyond those. Load order of the mods is important (last on the list trumps mods loaded earlier). You can adjust Oblivion mod load order using the Oblivion Mod Manager found here. Make sure Vamp Hunting: OVB is near the bottom below other vampire mods. As well...you'll probably need the rest of the Oblivion executable which Bethesda left out to avoid an R rating to run many 3rd party mods. Found @ the link below. http://obse.silverlock.org/ Once installed, you run Oblivion from the new .exe (as administrator, of course). GostHacked Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Just got HALO REACH. This game kicks ass, the best one since "Combat Evolved" Great storyline, and excellent online multiplayer. Also playing Bioshock, anyone playing these? Bioshock 1 was great. Atmosphere was fantastic and ran like butter on my PC. It can get a little old with the missions against the Big Daddy's and the Little Sisters. But stick with it, because it is a great game. The hacking darts will save your ass on many occasions. Bioshock 2 has some elements missing that the first one did. Part of the atmosphere is gone (dispensers no longer talk to you after they give you items. I've started it 3x and got about 1/3 of the way through. I am going to finish it some time soon. IN other game news. I finished FEAR 2 and it sets it up for FEAR 3 . if you like creepy stuff, then this is a series you want to get into. AVP - Dunno, maybe avoid it altogether. The game looks nice and not many glitches, models look nice. However the voice acting in the game is just horrible. Bad voice acting can kill a game . GostHacked Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 If any of you love the Sid Meier's Civilization series, you will love getting into V. I've already blown about 24 hrs on it in total this week. Gameplay is quite different. Less micromanaging of your cities, you can concentrate more on conquering and such. The GUI layout is much better and there are so many nice touches and tweaks over IV. It's very very pretty, and the animations are very cool. Combat is a lot different and easier in some aspects, you can only have one unit occupying and hex. So strategically moving around large armies does pose a new challenge. Cities defend themselves in a way, you don't need to garrison units, to protect the city, but it does give it a defence boost when you do. The only thing missing from IV is Leonard Nimoy's voice when you complete research on a tech. I am expecting this to be strategy game of the year. I just picked it up two days ago, and I've spent a dozen hours already. I've found it a little tough getting used to not being able to garrison several units in cities though. I like having a place to store them. But I really like that you can't stack, which adds a bigger tactical element to the game. I also miss Leonard Nimoy's voice narating the research of techs. My favourite from the last version was when he just said beep, beep, beep, for robotics I think. Quote
Moonlight Graham Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Currently playing Red Dead Redemption on my Xbox. Such a real, living, beautiful environment they created for the old American West. Great game, especially if you liked GTA IV. Army Guy Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 The Harper Conservatives are just as bad if not worse. They handed out costume jewellry with armed forces insignia, and showed films glorifying the killing of Afghans. My kids came home talking about how cool it was how the soldiers used night vision scopes to kill. I know this is off topic but it struck a cord....I just wanted to clarify some misconceptions here. Military does not recruit at elementary schools, the minimum age anyone can be recruited into the regular force is 17 and only if they have a parents signature (not many of those in elementary)....they do however send out teams for public awareness vists on "request", or inviation to public events, these teams will introduce groups of civilians on what the Military does, bring in some displays, movies, etc....nothing that is graphic or actualy shows any killing or fighting...it's g rated , They have also been asked Afghan vets to talk alittle about thier experience. these talks are monitored and should not contain anything more than a g rating....ie no graphic war stories.... Yes they hand out trinkets and yes it does carry Armed forces insigna, it is who they are after all, besides Wall mart was all out of teddy bears....As for showing films on afghanistan yes they do, but like i said it's g rated, does it glorify the killing of Afghanis i doubt it very much....in fact i'd bet a months wage on it, it showed some operations but nothing that was graphic or glorified anything.......and while i will agree with you our children should be spared the details of killing and war they should be made aware of what we are doing over in afghan in our nations name, and just to be clear that includes closing with the enemy and destroying them...be it with a night vision scope or American A-10 providing air support... Yes they hand out trinkets and yes it does carry Armed forces insigna, ] My kids love the armed forces pavilions at the Ex..They had an obstacle course complete with a motivational M/Cpl yelling encouragement at the kids. My son thought it was a hoot, he did the course 3 times and 3 times he did his 10 push ups along with the whiskered M/Cpl...My heart was out for the M/Cpl it seems that every kid wanted to do push ups...after the tenth kid, the M/Cpl called for his mate to take over....maybe they aren't as tough as they used to be...100 push ups used to be the warm up... And they still use their dog-tags they got....they keep there silly bands on them. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
