Limit protests to a defined area

Recommended Posts

I think protests should be limited to a defined area and not allowed to take over city streets with impunity.

Limit them to Queens Park or similar venue. Any protests going on elsewhere will result in the riot police arresting them en masse. A warning given first to disperse, if after 5 minutes they don't comply then I'd use tear gas, rubber bullets, bean bags and then arrest them all.

People will get the message. They will learn to protest in the designated area or they'll be arrested. Same goes for everyone.

I want to see a new Charter written up. If provinces don't sign it then the non compliant provincial government will be arrested and tried for treason.

Everyone must carry and show papers, especially immigrants. If they fail to do so they will be arrested, if upon their arrest they aren't in the country legally they will be deported with no right of appeal. Simply put on a plane and flown out on their country of origins expense. If their country of origin doesn't pay up Canada with hit them sanctions and all trading/aid will cease and the consulate closed with that nation until they do.

We have to keep our cities and country safe at all costs.

So you are the opposite of the people?

you do them a favor to allow them to say but you need not care about what they ask for, without solve all social problems that make them un-happy?

They need to obey your rule and stay in jobless and enjoy the bad economy and let corporations take more money or they will be arrested.

What the different between you and a dictator?

Even at a billion $, the police didn't have enough resources to arrest everyone.

Perhaps not officially arrest but detain. The police can detain anyone on a suspicion without charge for 24-48 hours. They should exercise that. Tackle everyone and zip tie them, if the try to get up without permission hog tie them and leave them on the street until they're all zip ties then start carting them off in buses. If they resist then charge them with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

Something like what the National Guard did in the 60's in the US during those unlawful protests. Arresting and beating those protesters who went against what their leader commanded.

Sooo basically.... you want a police state?

Gotcha.

Many of the protesters and socialists idolize Che and the USSR and China. These are all Police states. So I think I would have their support.

That's what they did this weekend. They had 5000 cops and an almost equal number of protesters.

"Tackle everyone and zip tie them"

The police did a good job of managing the situation in my opinion. Almost no injuries, and despite the scale of the operation just one politically visible screw up. Your suggestion just isn't practical given the resources, and the politics around this event.

Like at Kent State you mean ?

You would have the support of the protesters, or of the USSR ?

If somebody suggested just letting them do whatever they want, that would be as extreme as your suggestion.

Letting these thugs protest wherever they feel like it is obviously too much for them to handle. These thugs need to be put under stricter controls.

Queens Park and City Hall should be the only places allowed for public demonstration. That way the riot police can set up in only one area and easily confine these animals to it. Anyone caught protesting or trying to assemble outside these sites should be arrested and charged and made to pay any and all damages to businesses during any rioting done by these thugs.

What you do is set a defined protest route. This is what normally happens. You don't want to close down every street, after all. Then you let the protesters go and monitor them, with cops among them to grab anyone who gets out of hand. If someone breaks away and starts marching down different roads you stop them, tell them they're blocking traffic, and they either get on the sidewalk or go back to the main protest - or be arrested.

Sid Ryan did this. Since this was his protest he should be held responsible for the damage caused during an event he organized.

As much as I hate Sid Ryan, what you suggest is unfair. Organised and restrained protests were hijacked as a cover for the violent vandals. That's not Ryan's fault.

Ill gladly take up arms against you and any co-conspirators that push this kind of idiotic shit. You wont just be up against a few protesters this time though, youll be up against the courts, the constitution, the bill of rights, and most of your fellow Canadians.

We have to keep our cities and country safe at all costs.

Pussies that casually surrender their rights in the name of trumped up security concerns dont DESERVE to be safe.

And the vast majority of real Canadians, especially Toronto residents, believe that political circle jerks like these summits should be held in an isolated location, rather than in the middle of downtown in Canada's largest city! But fascists want to use a few broken windows and abandoned police cars set on fire to justify a blanket denial of everyone's civil rights.

When these fools want to get together to decide how the WTO and IMF are going to run everybody's lives, they can do it on a conference call!

The courts which try to stop this progress would be arrested and tried for treason immediately.

Under my plan, the Charter and Constitution will be re drafted and refusal to sign will result in arrest and being tried for treason. Most of the leaders in this country are already guilty of treason against Canada as it is.

I'd like to see a strong leader like Francisco Franco in Spain to rule here in Canada. He was an excellent leader. Strong right wing, anti communist a strong Catholic who demanded traditional values from his countrymen.

He is one of the most perfect leaders of our lifetime.
