No Wonder the Israeli's attack the Palestinians!

Actually, Jewish inhabitation never totally ceased. Further, the Jews' ability to survive in much of the Diaspora proved extremely questionable.

neither did palestinian habitation cease, it's myth that jews had the region to themselves even in ancient times....at the time of the partition palestinians muslims were in the majority and had been for many centuries...

unending occupation...during WW2 it was called resistance...

I don't think the Free French fighters "fought" too many supermarkets or night clubs in Germany.

True 'nuff. Conquest will do that at times (majority). The original Phoenicians and Philistines were hauled off into slavery by Alexander for the whole Siege of Tyre dealie. Don't piss off Big Al. I'm sure the odd one escaped from that affair, as well.

Then there were the Romans....Trajan, Titus et al. They had interesting ways of dealing with revolts.

The place is on a highway of ancient invasion. This war has been going on since Kadesh. This piddly-ass stuff is just the latest chapter.

But Yom Kippur...biggest tank brawl since Kursk. Impressive stuff. Thank goodness for Arab generals.

Resistance tended to target the military. You're occupied...right?

not easy to attack germany proper for a civilian resistance movement in the occupied countries...attacking german civilian targets was left to allied bomber crews....what did the Germans call the bombing of civilian targets? Terrorism...

What are you people even talking about? World War II was a war for the very existence of nations and survival of peoples. There was nothing off limits in that war. Any new weapon or new method was free to use, anything that the allies could possibly have done to hasten the defeat of Germany, including targeting German civilians, was more than justified to win that war. People have forgotten since then what all out war is: there are no rules in such a war, no glory, no deed too terrible; the only mandate is to win, to win at any cost to the enemy and at as little as possible cost to yourself.

Neither side used chemical weapons during WW2. Other than Auschwitz and such. So there were limits as per the Geneva Protocol that were kept to...probably out of mutual fear.

Italy went chemical in Ethiopia before the war, and Japan used mustard gas, phosgene, and lewisite in China until 1944, though not to great effect.

My father said the chemicals were used often - white fospherous...He saw guys jumping into the water to attempt to extinguish the eternal flame of torment - once the emerged from the water - it kept on burning to the bone - there is nothing new under the sun - It's all been done before.

When they keep pulling this crap!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8089535.stm

.....Gaza is nothing but an area full of terrorist's they get what they bring on themselves!

in 1948 the Palestinians weren't bringing it on themselves --- it was being brought to them by the Brits and a Europe, reduced to rubble, which was still unable to deal with the Jewish community and their counter, the anti-semitism which survived the war -- the Brits saw an opportunity to dump the issue on the middle east ---- for the Palestinians, it was just another invasion by another group willing to kill them off in order to steal their land

Where does the Grand Mufti fit into the picture in your assessment? He's the Palestinian Arab's Theo Herzl, afterall...the 'Palestinian Cause' being born as he took power in 1919.

I'm sure they do....but Arafat was no George Washington.

that, naturally, is not for you to decide but for the Palestinians ---- George Washington faced challenges which Arafat never saw --- but the reverse is also true - Arafat saw obstacles Washington could not have dreamed of

That's why all the Palestinians are dead now.... oh... wait, nevermind, there goes that theory. By the way, there were no "Palestinians" in 1948.

Much like we don't talk about the horror of the Killing Fields or the Boat People anymore. Leftie embarassment.

Ex-hippie: Crap! We did that? A pox on Jane Fonda.

Yet they tow the line and call Saigon Ho Chi Minh City.
