George Bush was declared President by a court in the US. As of most leaders. So you'd be looking for an argument for argument's sake??

Divide and Conquere. Plain and simple. We are classified, grouped, sub-grouped and sub classified, till we have a plethora or little groups. The more we are divided the more that one group can be pitted against another, or several. Left, right, conservative, liberal, socialist, communist, ect ect.. The Internet is bringins us together, then commercialization took over the internet, and now it is just a large focus group. But we are not focusing on the same things.

Your domestic issues sometimes arise when foreign policy is not good. In the US, they have a 3 trillion deficit, record houseing foreclosures. Two major banks ready to burst. Because the focus was on Foreign and not Domestic. But overall I agree with your statement. -

GostHacked replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Americans sure gave a shit about Foreign Policy right after 9/11. That is how the ignorant and stupid were lead to beleive in false items that lead to the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Now you say they are not interested in Foreign Policy? It is because of the Foreign Policy that things like the economy, healthcare, price of gas at the pump are the items that were affected by the Foreign Policy. Ignoring how one affects the other is absolute ignorance. And there is no excuse for absolute ignorance. If my feeble Canuckian mind can understand that, any stupid American should be able to understand it. ... Canada again .. But I will use Jerry's idea of, we are not talking about Canada. What do you expect from Canadian Optics. If you don't like the views, there are plenty of political forums in the US that you might feel more comfortable in. What do you expect from a Canadian political website?? Australian Optics? -

I would say you are wrong. Russia and China have large militaries. They have been doing exercises together for years. Russian bombers are now in Venezuela and Cuba. China is currently ramping up their navy, something they have been doing for years. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5013871,00.html http://en.rian.ru/world/20070727/69828953.html Just because they have not projected their power (I would argue they have been doing just that, like the US, but we never hear about it.) does not mean they cannot or not willing to. Russia is showing they can now. Projection does not necessarily mean invasion.

World Might Blow Up or Something Today
GostHacked replied to Ontario Loyalist's topic in Health, Science and Technology
I have been paying attention to this thing for some time now. Little realizing this has been in the works for about 20 years and 9 billion later. This thing is the most absolutely amazing piece of technology on the planet. I am eager to hear what they discover. If they can get ahold of that graviton and maybe find out how to use it .... new frontiers. Maybe find out how to fold space. Oleg Bach The Atomic weapon is an abhorable thing. But wow is it ever fantastic. Einstien never meant for the atomic bomb to happen when he discovered Theory of Relativity. Usually anyone who wants to make a weapon out of anything is in the military or an outfit that works with the military. Leave it up to mad men to turn discovery into a weapon that kills. Thousands of scientists around the planet have taken part in this project. The fact that this facility crosses the border twice of two countries indicates it is a really huge multinational effort and cooperation. More so than the ISS. Multinational effort on a single project does bring about unity and civility to the world. More or less, science nerds do take a risk. But that risk is calculated out the wazoo. A few crappy equations do not churn out such a fantastic piece of equipment. Actually this is a whole slew of different pieces of equipment to make up this facility. Even after playing so many computer games depicting end times or 'when science goes wrong', I still want them to fire this puppy up. Screw it, roll the dice, balls to the wall. Dr. Gordon Freeman to the test chamber please. http://www.shackpics.com/files/largehadron...6p8kuk65ug3.jpg http://cache.boston.com/universal/site_gra..._08_01/lhc8.jpg -
Open warfare in South Ossetia
GostHacked replied to moderateamericain's topic in The Rest of the World
If you think that most inter-ethnic conflicts have been banished, then why is gang warefare (which for the most part is very ethnic) such a problem in most major cities in North American. Gang wars are very ethnic and cause much trouble in Toronto, and I also see some of it here in Ottawa. Los Angeles is a major center for ethnic gangs. Having a 'Quebec' is not necessary to have ethnic conflicts. -

Don't see the relevance, sorry. Sure they can vote for whoever they want. But ask those people why .. and you will get a blank look. Image is nothing without substance. If people vote for the image, they themselves have no substance. You guess correct. -

GostHacked replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The image means nothing if there is no substance. And if you are basing your vote on an image, then you should not be voting at all. Policies matter, plain and simple. If they do not matter, we can get a monkey in office. People are idiots plain and simple if they vote for an image. But if it is about image, then Palin as a former beauty queen should be Pres and not McCain. An image will only get you somewhere if you are in Hollywood. -
What is your take on Sarah Palin?
GostHacked replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
So double standards will have to do ... hell and I almost thought there were no standards Stewart is not a lowlife, just a comedian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHFhzwyZFLw Just some of those double standards we se every day. It is really messed up when a person like Stewart can deliver more news in 30 mins than CNN/FNS ect ect .. sure .. how about Canwest, CTV, CBC, blah blah .. BBC, AL-freakin Jazeeeera ... any of them in a single day. WIP ....lololol...... To add to your bit there, kind of like how Palin says it MIGHT be gods work, they just don't know yet ..... Considering she was waiting for a job description for VP before she decided to take it. ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=006axc2aELEKimmy I did go on that bandwagon, and after I thought about it, well, it was really dumb to bring that to light. This is how they got Bill right?? This one I will say is fair game. Bush_cheney Those double standards comes to mind ... again. One man's Allah, is another man'd God. Where do I begin .... Kimmy Obama inhaled. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uju8srfGw2I Bush was a drunk. Jeffariah Meh, check out the link above, she definately wants it to be Gods work. Not to mention you can see more of the speach clip on youtube. So, if they do not make it God's plan, or they find out that oh crap .. this was NOT God's plan.. what then? When will everyone just give up God? It is the plan of men, and only men. God does nothing, for he is nothing. It is like it is an excuse to get away with almost everything... THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT !!! I WAS ON A MISSION FROM GOD !!! Anyone who brings that up, most people just say .. screwball, idiot, freak. But in the US they get the nod for VP. Guyser SHOW ME THE PLANS !!!!!! Cause, we all know God just hands things over ... right? No one knows that it is ever God's will. He works in mysterious ways right? We may never understand his plan... maybe nuking the whole freakin planet IS his plan. If that is true, then you are all idiots. What's in the suitcase?? -

Pliny I beleive that was the case. It was the Repubilcan senator of Alaska Ted Stevens, that had made sure those earmarks went in for that Bridge to Nowhere. It was Congress who killed the bridge, not Palin, but yet she takes credit for it. Ted Stevens end She sacraficed integrity and honesty right there and then, just like a true politician. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravina_Island_Bridge And the flip flop. EDIT le. I think she likes the shirts !!! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4...lin_nowhere.jpg -
At what age can you legaly own a gun?? It is 18. You can get a permit to use a gun under 18, but not to own one. Those kids wont be in the registry. Their parents might be... so what do you do then? Why not just look into the registry of every student in your school before fall classes start? Why not just prevent those people from showing up to classes. Ugh. Illegaly owned guns do NOT show up on the legal gun registry. Those are the guns and people you need to concern yourself with. But it always seems that the people living by the rules, always get more restrictions put on them because of the few that ruin it for the rest of us. If jonnhy is being bad and has an illegal gun, deal with jonny and the gun. Will jonny be in the registry?

Black Dog Many parents take care of special needs children. To the majority of those parents, taking care of a special needs child is a full time job. This job like the VP is a 24/7 job. What do you have time for? So when she becomes VP, she will have black suit nannies to take care of the child. She may be able to handle both as govenor of Alaska, but moving up to the second most important position in the land is a huge step from governing a state with a small population. Even with how things are today with both parents working full time, nannies, daycare, they have little time to really interact with their children. It is not just about money, (it helps though) it is about making that connection to your children. IF she is able to handle it,, then hats off, and I applaude it. Hopefully she did not take the nod from McCain without really thinking about it. If she needs to ask this question .... http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/08/29/s...president-does/ ...then she really is not qualified to be VP. -

Stephen Best. Methinks many do not understand what you are trying to say. Twisting it and offering really disingenuous situations that do not reflect what you are saying. Does a woman put her career ahead of her children/family? If so, why would she put her career ahead of her children/family? If she puts career ahead of the children/family, what will suffer most? It is not considered 'progressive' to abandon your children for your career. It is also not considered 'conservative' or 'liberal' to abandon your children for a career. That is just plain stupid no matter how you look at it. From the information here, Pelosi waited untill her children were old enough to take care of themselves before entering politics. Is that a bad thing? Not at all. I consider that responsible parenting. When you become a parent, you have an obligation and a long term commitment to raise the child as best as you can. This means personal and proffesional sacrafices along the way as well. For those who make the concious choice and effort to have a child, they will also put the time and care needed to raise the child properly. If you are a single woman or man without children .. then by all means, go for the career. But if you have family, .. please take care of them. -
Righto again Bushy... our government is just as messed up and corrupt. Geez we went over this many times that I agree with you here when you say CANADA is just as bad. I get it. Hard to hold them to a standard when they keep lowering their own standards to say the job WAS well done.

Managing a small business is far different from running the biggest business in the US that is the US. Large corporations don't like to aquire VPs that are green, why should the US VP spot be treated any different? You'd want the most qualified person or the second most in the VP seat. From what it seems, Palin is still wet behind the ears. Obama is fresh, but has been in politics for twice as long (at least) as Palin. No, you want someone who has some years in them. Someone who has at least made mistakes and learned from them. Couple hundred thousand to over 350 million.... .. can be overwhelming. Huh? -
Like you care, which you don't, besides, you would just say it is irrelevant anyways. A typical loaded question from you. You are a troller and love to fan the flames. If you want your sovereignty respected down the road, you would want to respect others. But we know that will never be the case, and next time, I won't cry when you get another 9/11.

Edmonton Police Private After Hours Club
GostHacked replied to August1991's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Police are the ones to enforce the rules of not serving booze after a certain time. In Ontario and Quebec it is 2 AM. Bars/pubs get shut down if they are caught serving booze after those hours. If they want their own private spot to drink in, they can do what the rest of us do. GO HOME AND HAVE A BEER !!! This way, drinking and driving does not become an issue, among other things. Even if it is 4AM... It is something I have done. Hell when I worked night shift, I would be home at about 8:30 am and crack a beer. Nobody is serving booze at that time anywhere. If the laws allow this to be in place, then we need to rewrite the law. fellowtraveler Why not just have it in an open fridge instead of a vending machine if it is not serving the public? Cybercoma Hmm, I'd love to have one at work. But that would be just asking for pain. Since I work in a grocery warehouse, a few drinks would mean serious harm (even if legal) by heavy equipment. No thanks. -
Everything is traceable. If it is on record and true, then you will be able to find it. If people are fudging it, then you will loose product. The reason everything is tagged and trace is to make sure there is no loss of product, and no loss of money. No matter what your business, you have all the information on suppliers/carriers. Everything has a bar code to be electronicaly traced. Maple Leaf Foods have existed for over 100 years. If this is their first major screw up, I think I can let that slide. Oleg Bach My projection is that people will be going back to a real butcher to get their meat. Days of the large everything in one box store are numbered. But you can even have problems with a butcher.

The US has already been doing covert operations in Iran for the last couple years now. http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/06/29/us.iran/index.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8062901881.html http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,373407,00.html It seems these articles rely on what Hersh has to say about the operations. However, I would not doubt that the US is doing covert operations in Iran. Just like the US is saying Iran is funding some terrorists groups in Iraq. I recall how effective the last round of covert operations in Iran were. That is what led to the hostage crisis. Overthrowing the leader of Iran and putting in a puppet. We saw how Iran reacted to that. As to Alex Jones. Take him with a grain of salt, just like you would everything Bush has to say. Alex Jones is a loudmouth and quite the ranter. I do listen to him now and then, and do browse his websites. There is good information on there, just as with MSM sites, compare notes. Don't reject him outright, but at least pay attention to some of the things he is saying. TOPAZ .. you gotta post links. Everything you do here is a drive by posting with nothing to back it up other than .. I HEARD something on the news. Dude, we all hear things. Link stuff, or don't post at all. Please.

Well, things break, and things crash. A 20 thousand dollar vehicle or one that costs a billion. Mind you there are things that can minimize the losses. AngusThermopyle Old sure, but reliable and will work in many environments that guns like the M-16 just do not perform well. In Iraq, I recall reports at the start of the 2003 invasion there was complaints from the US soldiers that a great number of guns would jam up often enough. If your gun always shoots in this environment compared to a new gun that jams up now and then, who comes out on top? The AK might not be accurate, but it does not break as much. This is why many rebel groups and militaries use the AK. I will also guess that the AK has been proloferated more than any other weapon out there. wulf42 There was a gun developed by Nazi Germany that shot around corners. But the Israeli's always improve on any tech they are given.
