So, if the government is taking an aditional 36% with the already 36%, that leaves you with not much. By your math this means that the government will take more than half of your money To clear this up, it will be an aditional 3%. It goes up from 36% to 39%. Don't forget all the breaks you can get by being a small business. You can claim much on your taxes and even give some to charity for a tax wright off. The other thing that is pretty easy to understand here Shady is that the tax will be on a GROSS over 250,000. Because NET is the total minus the taxes. You are welcome. So, Obama is taliking about GROSS income. (Or is it the other way around??) We should really do some searching on how many small businesses make more than $250,000 a year. Even if they got the Corp identity. My pal owns his own inventory company (incorporated). He makes about 80,000 a year after his taxes and expenses. That is nothing to laugh at. So he wont see a change in his taxes under Obama's plan. BC About as socialist as Bush currently is, buying up bad banks and nationalizing them. Obama has a long way to go yet before he becomes the socialist that is currently in office. Socialism can be a good thing when applied properly. So can Capitolism. But we see how Capitolism is playing out right now. The game is broken and the players are crooked. So, time to switch to a new game, or get all new players.

Final Obama - McCain Debate
GostHacked replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Such weak posting. At least try to stay on topic for more than one post. -
I think the Colin Powell's endorsement will hurt Obama in the long run. Powell was railroaded into promoting the lies during the run up to the Iraq war. He may not have been responsible for the information, but he seemed to have gone against his better judgement and presented the so called evidence. Powell has since then come clean with his involvement in it. He knew the intelligence was wrong, but the boss will tell you what you are going to say and present. I really don't think this will benefit Obama at all.

Final Obama - McCain Debate
GostHacked replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Like do we really want a Hussein in power?? He could be a muslim. People who are desperate to make someone else look bad will use the Osama and the Hussein, to make Obama look and feel like an untrustworthy muslim, when we know that crap had all been debunked during his battle with Clinton. They also do this because they have no record of their own to stand on. But the Repubs love to beat dead horses it seems. Also, this is probably the first election for POTUS that both candidates were not born in mainland USA. Obama was born in Hawaii, and McCain was born on the military base in Panama ... which I find odd. -
Wal-Mart to close unionized store in Quebec
GostHacked replied to Bakunin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If WalMart can afford to put up a new store and then abandone it, they can afford to pay their employees beter under a union. The employer needs to be kept in check in treating it's employees fairly. I am not a big fan of unions, for they can protect the itdiots that are part of the union as well as the good employees. But this could be a great strategy to get rid of WalMart in Canada (i am not a fan of WalMart at all) Threaten to unionize, and watch them leave. Blueblood. Amen to that good sir. When people feel they are being taken advantage of then the threat of a union becomes very real. Employees don't mind being used (meaning the job they were hired for) but employees definately don't like being abused. -
Not to mention the voting turnout was the lowest ever. Around 55-60% of eligible voters actually voted.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081016/ap_on_..._the_plumber_20 Just 5% of you taxpayers out there. Only 5%. And it will go up 3%. so 3%of 250,000 is?? 6000?? Not to mention many breaks you can get as a business already, and if you are smart, you can put money into savings, or charity stuff for tax wright offs. This really wont hurt people wanting to start or already own a business. Most small business owners will benefit from Obama's plan.

McCain's dirty politics may lead to violence

No elections for the Queen. By nature the Queen is part of a Monarchy, there is no vote. This was the case decades ago. The Queen is represented in Canada by the Govenor-General who right now is Michelle Jean. The Queen no longer has direct or any real control or power over Canada, it is a symbolic postion more or less now. The GG has all that power I would guess. No, she will be Queen either way. Part of the reason you are born into the Monarchy hierarchy. Outsiders can only get there through marriage.

Final Obama - McCain Debate
GostHacked replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
JBG I thought that was interesting as well. Gave us a view into the people that Obama would take on if he becomes President. I thought Obama did well. When McCain brought up the Ayers thing, I was really expecting McCain to bring up Rev. Wright. Which he did not. I was surprised. I actually liked some of the things McCain talked about. Obama kept his cool and did not interupt McCain as much as McCain interupted Obama. Breathing heavey, rolling the eyes, being more reactionist than strategist. Joe the Plumber was used so much, he ended up to be a pawn in the debate. Who can work Joe's scenario into the debate so that the candidates can use Joe to explain how he will be affected by each other's plan. McCain to me talked more general than Obama. Obama went into many specifics I did not think either of them would touch. Like the people Obama wanted to take on in his cabinet. It was the first debate I saw between them, and auraly it is hard to get past McCain's whislte when he pronounces C's and S's. McCain was definatley more animated than Obama. One thing I found funny was how McCain did not know which way to go around the table at the end of the debate. It could have been a 'Dean Scream' moment. American Woman It is like saying, yep, dealt with, move on, next topic. I also very much liked how Bob Schieffer ran the debate. There was a lot of great questions in a short time span. -
McCain's dirty politics may lead to violence
GostHacked replied to stevoh's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Good for you. See, you have , in your view, valid reasons for voting for McCain. I can't knock that. But to anyone that just votes because they have no clue... or votes because she is a woman, or he is a man, or he/she is black/white/yellow, those are the ones we all needs to address. If we vote A, just for the heck of it, and if A messes up, people complain that A is no longer what they thought the voted for. Actually it is because they did not think and just put an X somewhere. This is a problem. I guess it worked out well for Harper. I did not vote for him. It is too bad that the candidates don't represent everything I want, hell they don't even represent half of what I want. I made a choice, it came close to what I support, however, it's much less than what I wanted. But Harper get another minority government. Which is alright for me. The opposition will keep them in check. Actually it proves that there is ignorance in terms of the population being knowledgeable in their government and candidates, worldwide. And this is the crux of my post before you called me a racist elitist. Sorry for wanting something better than what we have. Actually we deserve a lot better from our governments. Something tells me, I don't want to be part of your club. Might be your attitude. When people have standards, the people they vote in will have standards. You have standards in most of your daily activities, why can't voting with knowledge be one of them? I can't force people to do it, but I can sure bring it to their attention and possible make them think more about what/who they are voting for. I hope you have something to back up calling me a racist. Some might consider this a personal attack. That could get you banned from MLW, but I will chalk it up to ignorance on your part, eventhought you know better. I know you know better. I know same sex marriage might not be acceptable in your parts or even allowed, but I think we would make a perfect couple. -
McCain's dirty politics may lead to violence
GostHacked replied to stevoh's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Again if this is the sole reason you vote for the other guy, then you are wasting your vote and allowing more of the same to continue. Since you support lies and deceit,(based on many posts of yours) it is no wonder you are frothing at the mouth when it comes to this. You have no problem with pointing out Canada whenever something is said about the US. So, I have no problem in telling you how to vote. Everyone else is trying to tell you who to vote for, I just want to make sure you know HOW to vote. I want to make sure you make the best decision possible. This is an election, or is it a popularity contest? Both? You are proof that there is ignorance abroad, and that is something I would like to see go away in this world. There is no room for it anymore. And when you made your statement, women already have the right to vote. So bringing that up again is not working for you. Having blacks and women voting is a good thing. But go ahead and call me a racist and elitist again, please. -
Great post. A good deal of food I eat does not even come from Canada anymore. Granted there are some stuff you just can't grow/produce in Canada's climate. But you can blame this on people wanting cheaper things and not caring where it came from. People do not seem worried about it at all. They just do not understand the impact it has. This is something I have noticed as of late myself. It does a double whammy on the economy. You have paid to outsource everything overseas. You now have a people out of work. Skilled people out of work. As that T.I. facility got shut down, many out of work, many may need schooling to get new skills because theirs are not usefull anymore. There is a cost to outsource, there is a cost to not having a strong well paid work force. So, without the plant making money in Texas, and with a workforce that now is not working. What happens? There is a much larger loss than just having a plant shipped overseas. It is a permanent loss untill, .. IF those jobs ever come back.

McCain's dirty politics may lead to violence
GostHacked replied to stevoh's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Touched a nerve here now didn't I? The fact is we need standards. Because the bar that the current batch is trying to raise only makes me limbo lower now. And if you are voting for someone based on an image, do you really deserve the right to vote?? It does not matter what country you are in. If you vote for an image, you don't vote for substance, and wasting your vote, and allowing the current status quo of asshats to carry on with the bullshit. So again, I ask you and everyone else to vote, and make it count. Vote because you support the person and the platform. Vote because you really believe that your man or woman is right for the job. Vote because you have done the homework. Don't vote because he/she is black, white, man, woman. Check their record. Which needs to be done more on both sides. Everything else is just a distraction from what really matters. To me this is common sense. And if common sense needs to arbitered to those nationals, then that is what will happen. I am not telling you WHO to vote for. I am just making sure YOU know who you are voting for. By that, not many are familiar with women suffrage or even granting blacks the right to vote. Not many of us lived through that time. -

I am not sure where you are comming from on this, can you clarify? Are you arguing that holding our elected leaders accountable for their actions will 'disenfranchise' millions of voters? Not all my posts are aimed at Ignorant America. That post was for ignorant people everywhere. -
Poll: Palin v. Obama
GostHacked replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Nah, you get exactly what I am saying. Howver, it is not racist or elitist. It is just a reality you do choose not to face. Better than mud slinging slimey politicians. So if you want 'change' to come to Washington, you need to start with yourself. -
You don't get the response because you are looking for something that is not there. What I am denying is your single'ing out Obama when McCain had meetings/events with ACORN as well. So you started out this thread by tying it to Obama, because of your bias against him (don't deny it). And because of your bias against him, you don't even realize McCain was part of the process with ACORN. So, no I am not denying that ACORN has it's problems, but you are trying to shove it into Obama's face when you know both are to blame. We can revisit your opening post if you want, so if you want to blame Obama for this mess, you know you are going to loose. Shady Are you getting it now? I doubt it.

McCain's dirty politics may lead to violence
GostHacked replied to stevoh's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ahh so it is all speculatiuon on both sides, but most of the speculation is propped up here like it is the gospel truth. Once we get past that bit, we can really dig into the candidates and test their substance. This needs to happen in every country, we need to hold their feet to the fire. They work for us, not the other way around. This is something we the people in every country need to get back to. We all want more transparency in our governments, and we want them to be accountable for their actions. Not only that we have to be accountable for our actions of voting in someone when we know that is not what we want. We throw our vote to one guy because he is the lesser of the two evils, and not because you actually supoport their platform. Campaigning is a media circus where the politician who can give the best non-answer, wins. Sad sad sad state of affairs. The win also goes to the polititican who can lie their ass off about the other candidate to make themselves look better, which gives the opposite result of a candidate propping themselves up by standing on their own record. This is why most elections piss me off, substance means nothing anymore. Everything is fake and clean on the surface, because no one wants to see the broken uglyness that is beneath the clean fake surface. If you are voting for an image, then you should not be voting at all. Sure you have the right to vote, but you also owe it to yourself and your fellow countrymen to make an informed decision. I know that I cannnot vote in the US elections, however, if someone wanted to vote for McCain because of his record, and really beleives McCain is the right choice, then at least the person had done the homework and weighed all the options. Of that means a votr for McCain then that is the way it will be. Most are not going to take the time to really dig into their candidates. We on this board here are the exceptions, we are at least trying to make sense of it all. Brewster's Millions starring Richard Pryor. 'Vote for None of the Above!' -
Poll: Palin v. Obama
GostHacked replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
But if you are better than that, why stoop to that level? If leafless decides to vote that way, then he becomes part of the problem and not the solution. Many are voting on an image and colour. Those are the people that need some education. Leaders can do what they want when the population is as dumb and ignorant as a brick. -
Gun Control Doesn't work...Never did, Never will!
GostHacked replied to wulf42's topic in Political Philosophy
Like banning guns. No, it is to say that you don't need a gun to kill someone if the intention is there in the first place. All weapons have the ability to kill. Even non-weapons have the ability to kill. Sure guns make it easier for an idiot to kill someone. But it is not the legit owners who are creating the problem here. It is the illegal guns in criminal hands that are the issue. And this is what you fail to see and understand. Huh?? Now we want to free the guns?? The guns are slaves?? There is also no place for ignorance in tomorrow's society as well. Education on gun saftey is key here. -

Who is Barack Obama?
GostHacked replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hell, Canada has problems as well. As does most of the planet. I find the American politics more interesting, mainly because they do end up having world wide implications. Canada, not so much influencial on that part. And being Canada's closest neighbour, and being the only self proclaimed 'lone super power', you'd be an idiot to not pay attention to it and well, call out idiodicy when it happens. Like you supporting lies and such to get to Iraq, and you have no interest in substance eventhough your vote actually does matter. And that is what scares me, the idiots who eat up the sound bites like they were Big Macs. You support Palin because she has a pretty face, and not her record. For what it is worth, I think you are going through some kind of denial phase. I understand it's a long program. I am here for you if you need me. If you recall, I picked McCain to win. I think he is in either way. I would prefer Obama to be in, but as you point out, I cannot vote, being a Canuck n all. Your 2-0 on your post end statement. -
Who is Barack Obama?
GostHacked replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Even a better reason not to vote for McCain. And I was more focusing on your kind, the kind who support 'Palin around with Terrorists' and McCain fries. So the problem might not be the canditates, but who is voting for them and why. See how that works?? -
Will Russia be kicked out of the G8?
GostHacked replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
For everything I am seeing in the news it is back to refering to it as the G7. So eventhought it might not be official, people seem to be changing their letterheads.
